Walked into a puddle of water in my kitchen in the morning. The filter under the sink was the…read moreculprit. The filter was there when I moved in, I repalced the filter. It was a year old. It never really worked. I used to own a farm, I know how to test water. I turned the water under the sink off completely and cleaned up all the water. I called Dave's Plumbing on recommendation of the previous homeowner. The man on the phone was nice enough, said that he may or may not be able to get someone out here, but tomorrow definitely. Fine. I got a call from one of Dave's employees that he was stopping by in the afternoon. I showed the man the situation under the sink. I asked that the shut off valves be replaced. They were 40 years old and one turn away from leaking themselves. I asked to have a filter of my choice also installed since the old filter was clearly not functioning properly and, read above, it didn't even work with a new (expensive) filter. The plumber guy even told me that the filter I wanted wouldn't help. The TDS on the new filter I installed is ~7. Folks, most bottled "spring water" is about ~35. Florida water out of the tap is ~200+. Dave - this is the part you need to read! The plumber that showed up clearly did not want to do the work; he clearly had a major attitute. I smiled, invited him in, asked how his day was going.... The Work: Replace a couple of valves and install a new filter. I did not have the filter, but I wanted the old leaking filter removed and new valves installed (one of the old valves barely shut off and leaked) so I could get use of my sink again. I would order the filter and then have them install it. Easy since the proper valve to the filter would be shut off; once the new filter was installed, just flick the switch to let the water flow. The plumber kept repeatedly saying, "You can do this yourself right?" "This job ins't too hard". He also said, "Why not just fix the existing filter". I explained to him it was not effective in the least. Again,, "You can do this yourself right?" "This job ins't too hard". "Why not just fix the existing filter". I work like everyone else and it is overwhelming sometimes. I needed to hire a plumber for their expertise to knock out the job. Needless to say, not having your kitchen sink working is a bit of an inconvenience. I could clearly see the plumber didn't want to do it. As I was showing him the door ( I mean he doesn't want to do it), he starting saying, "We are open M-F 9-5, just give us a call". You all need to understand that this was all being said with an attitude. Why would I call you? You clearly didn't want to do the job. I bought two shark bites, a coupler for the new filter I bought. It took about 1.5 hours to remove the old plumbing and install the new filter. My total cost ~300. My savings doing it myself? I'd say ~500. I will not be called Dave's Attitude Plumbing ever again. I'm glad you all have all the work you need and can afford to be selective. Florida = the state of contractors with wet diapers.

In this last visit, I needed a pair of pants hemmed and they were able to accomplish the task with no fuss or dely. The time quoted for completion was when the pants were ready and the job was done exactly as requested. The price for a pair of pants to be hemmed was, unfortunately, high but that is also the norm everywhere you call for alterations. $16 in my case so just be aware that the cost to alter might be on par with the cost of a new pair of jeans ($22). In any case, I would use them again for cleaning and for alterations. Big, shared parking lot in front.

Their name comes from the bible verse Matthew 17:20, Jesus said, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." The Mustard Seed Ministries mission is "to coordinate the energies of the Christian churches of St. Lucie County to meet the spiritual and material needs of the whole person and to make referrals to all available relief agencies in our community to take care of those in need". According to their website their "services include assistance with food insecurities, past due utilities, rent/mortgage payments, furniture, transportation/travel, emergency shelter, prescriptions, medical equipment, clothing, gasoline, medical care vouchers and many case-by-case interventions. As part of our food program, we implement a summer food program for school children who receive free/reduced meals during the school year; operate a Community Bucket Garden and an annual Community Thanksgiving Feast." For more than 3o years the Mustard Seed Ministries has been using a grass roots model to meet the needs of the community holistically. They are supported by hundreds of volunteers and community members who administer 17 programs and services available to individuals and families in St. Lucie County. They also operate a food pantry at their thrift store and provide medical education. Proceeds from this thrift store and the one in Ft. Pierce raise funds for their programs. The thrift store receives donations from businesses and the local community. They sell art, small appliances, clothes, furniture, accessories, and household goods. They sell a varied selection of items and prices are inexpensive. Strangest item found here this trip, a very serious portrait of Fred J Ball. Who was Fred and how did he end up here? I have so many questions but he is keeping watch on the store. So many cool treasures here. You can donate and shop in confidence knowing you are supporting one of the worthiest charities in St. Lucie County.

Her vision was to help families who have families in the hospital or may be themselves an inpatient or outpatient and require medical assistance. At such a young age she had the wisdom and compassion to care about others, even while she was going through her own hardships. Her father, Kevin Sharkey, has made it his mission to continue to fulfill her dream. Molly's house has 14 rooms plus a library, an office area, 2 kitchens, 2 living room areas with games, a play area for children, and a chapel. Additionally, there is a garden in the backyard specifically meant to attract butterflies with one of the most beautiful fountains. If you are looking for a place of healing you have found it in Molly's House. We stayed for almost 2 weeks due to my son having surgery to correct his tibial dysplasia. I have never stayed at a place like this, but I know that I would love to stay here again if we ever needed to come back. The staff is incredibly loving and kind, the whole house is clean and tidy, you can cook your own meals to help save money rather than eating out constantly, and it is so close to the Saint Lucie River you can't help but go on walks down Stuart's Healthy Trail and let the breeze soothe your soul. Relax in the Serenity garden for some healing while taking in the colors of the butterflies and foliage. Maybe go to a nearby park to let the kids exhaust some of that excess energy. Whatever you need Molly's House is here to help. We were fortunate enough to meet some amazing people while staying here who made our stay even more healing with just their presence. I highly recommend Molly's House. When we move to Florida we are now considering Stuart as a top choice and I can't wait to volunteer at Molly's House. Life is all about getting back what you put in and Molly's memory lives on through helping others. I wish I knew you, Molly. You are the epitome of a beautiful person and I'm glad I was able to learn about you and your life. The group chose St. V\incent de Paul, patron saint of the poor for their name and under the guidance of Sister Rosalie Rendu, they increased the number of people they were able to help. Volunteers of the organization are called Vincentians. The charity spread from France to Europe. In 1845 they established in St. Louis, Missouri. The organization is now world wide in 150 countries with 750,000 members. Every year across the country the St. Vincent De Paul Society provides 1.4 billion in aid to more than 4 million people every year. The store is staffed by volunteers and proceeds go to providing food and clothing, housing, rent and utility assistance, to the Port St. Lucie community. They sell donated furniture, household goods, lamps, small appliances, art collectibles, books, CD's, clothes, and accessories. They had a great selection and the prices were very reasonable in their clean and well organized store. They had a cute boutique section and you may even find vintage and antique pieces tucked into the shelves. Follow them on Facebook for notification of upcoming sales. If you are looking to donate, they accept household furniture, household goods, clothing, and toys in very good condition. Donations of food must be nonperishable and not expired. This long standing charitable organization is a wonderful place to shop and to give to.

Zero stars, the most stressful time of our life. Visit with treasure Coast Hospice liaison. 1st…read morevisit was suggested by martin south doctor caring for my husband. Hospice liaison said "he is not ready for Hospice". Gave us brochures and went on her way. Husband was moved to Encompass, I did not feel he was ready for rehab, that night Encompass called me moving him back to Martin South hospital he was not doing well. Martin South called me that night and were sending him to Martin North for critical care. Next AM I went to hospital he was not doing well, was treated for several days they moved him out of critical care. My intuition thought they made a mistake; I was with him every day he was in the hospital watching his body slowly going into giving up. After couple days I said stop with the massive poking of needles, trying to draw blood and he is in pain. I left that evening he was going to sleep he said goodbye love you, he had always said goodnight. I prayed for him; I knew that would be the last of his pain. That morning he was in coma they moved him to a private room and then called hospice I said ok maybe they will learn something from this. We all said our goodbyes he passed away that evening. Now hospice wants to help us with our grieving, I went through the hardest time of my life. Don't believe the rosy picture they paint! Maybe a big $ donner helps with the fancy brochures but not hospice care. God took care of my husband and will take care of me.
