I was surprised by how large and nice this thrift store is. Several rooms are filled with seasonal decorations including a large area of Christmas decorations, household goods, small appliances, clothes, accessories, kids items, large selection of furniture, and books. Everything was arranged artfully to give the store a boutique feel. In addition to shopping at their support stores you can donate your items at the rear of the store as well as give your time as a volunteer. Information on how to volunteer, their programs, and events are listed on the House of Hope website. This is a wonderful organization that deserves all of the community support it can get.

We both shopped around, my husband went one way to look at things he was interested in, and I went a different way to explore the store. No one ever greeted or spoke to me. It was my first time in the store and they had lots of nice items. I did have questions about some items I wanted to purchase, but was never acknowledged the entire time. I walked through the store from the dishes, clothing, to the furniture side. One tall dark haired woman walked past me at least 4 times in the store but only spoke to my husband across the store a couple of times. I was very sad when I left the store. He told me so much about this store and I was excited to get there. Not sure what happened here, but I wonder if it was because we are an interracial couple that I was never acknowledged, but my husband was.

I was there today and purchased 7 items and just because one piece of clothing did not have a ticket label the clerk refused to sell it to me. I really wanted that particular item. I beg him to please sell it but he won't budge. It was not even my fault. It was theirs for not labeling item. I did not think it was fair. I don't think I would return to that particular store.

Fortunately I found this fabulous thrift store from the Jensen Beach Community Church just a few doors down. Proceeds from this thrift store supports the Shepherd's Pantry providing food for those in need, a meeting home for Al Anon, Alcoholic's Anonymous & Narcotic's Anonymous, Indiantown Boys & Girls Club, and Habitat for Humanity. This thrift store is large with two long rooms filled with furniture, small appliances, linens, household goods, holiday decorations, clothing, accessories, etc.. I absolutely fell in love with a 1920's prohibition era wooden vanity that is just waiting for the right person to restore it and bring it back to life. They also had tea cups in my inherited Royal Rose pattern. Everything in the store was well organized, well priced, and in good condition. The volunteers who were working were friendly and helpful. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this store benefits the Angels of Hope Outreach Ministries, a Christian charity with the mission to end homelessness in the Treasure Coast. You can volunteer with them or donate items to this thrift store. The store generates money for the charity but it also offers lost cost items to the community. Some of the items I saw were socks, pantry food items, toys, new power banks for only $3, clothes, and home goods. Prices were inexpensive and the people working were very friendly. I love how this store is helping the community while helping others stretch their budget. Check them out if you are in the area.

The had several Day of Dead decorations and a cute snacklebox but those items didn't have prices. There is an adjacent antique store, Barn Door Antiques. I don't know if it is the same business or two separate businesses? I think they also buy gold? There is a lot going on here. In any case I didn't go over to the antique store. Amelia's Thriftique was a miss for me today but if you are feeling adventurous you may want to check them out.

I especially enjoyed my visit to St. Mary's Closet. St. Mary's Closet is on the campus of beautiful St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Stuart. The charming store has been artfully arranged by friendly volunteers. There is a main room with clothing, accessories, art, shoes, and antiques and vintage pieces. They have a dressing room area to try on clothes. There is also a smaller side room with household goods, small appliances, toys, puzzles, and men's clothing. On the day I visited everything in the store was 50 percent off except for the items like jewelry in the glass cases. I found the sweetest Portmeirion Botanic Garden Bouquet trinket box marked down to $1.50. It has beautiful butterflies and flowers on it. It is selling for over $20 on different internet sites. Meredith helped me with my sale and she was so sweet and welcoming. There are a lot of great thrift stores in Stuart and I would definitely add St. Mary's Closet to the list.

I just filled out paper at the front desk to see if I qualified to shop here, and got a thumbs up a few moments later. We are a large family, and the income limit is very reasonable. I was told by an employee that they get new stuff daily, so I often drop by a few times a week to see what they have. I often find products from Costco and Sprouts and high end coffee and teas. I found a 2 lb bag of Lavazza coffee beans for 4.99 last week! Lots of health foods as well. I've found quality baking goods too, like baking chocolate and yeast. I love going through the spices and baking stuff. And really, all of it! I always find awesome stuff. They bring out new produce daily around 11am, it's hit or miss with the freshness level but it's worth checking out daily since it's always new stuff. It really is like a treasure hunt every time. There's a lot of bulk items that cost less if you buy the whole box, and I'm like, "Is this right? a huge box of chips for 1.99?" Some crazy deals I've found are a 10 lb box of hash browns for 4.99, 15 dozen eggs for 12.99, a gallon of OJ for 1.99, 1 gallon of cooking oil for 2.99, 3lbs shredded cheese for 4.99. But if you go today, you probably won't find these but you'll find some other crazy deal. It changes daily. The only drawback is some of the things are near or at expiration dates, but not everything is. It's not the prettiest store either, but I highly recommend this place if you're looking to save money!
