He spent the last week of his life here and was treated with dignity, care, and respect. I noticed that the hospital staff (or volunteers) had crochet butterflies with a short prayer attached to them. The butterflies were placed on his pillow and chest. He looked peaceful. The receptionist at the front desk was sweet and pleasant. She took a photo of all visitors for the temporary badge. The hospice is located in a very peaceful setting, overlooking Long Island Sound. Out of the 3 months, the Aide was here 10 times. When questioned, I was told there was a problem. My parent had no Aide for the entire month of September. When she became in-patient, giving me Respite, I was contacted 3 days in a row. I was asked questions on how to handle my parent. Isn't this Hospice? Shouldn't they know how to handle a dementia patient???? The nurse schedule changes, no consistency. I'm so disappointed in the non-services of CT Hospice.

We recently visited a relative receiving palliative hospice care there (they have many levels of…read moreservice, btw). We did not tour the building, but what we saw of the facility and staff was reassuring. Protocols were clear; PPEs were provided and hand sanitizer was just steps away from every location. The rooms were bright and cheerful and the all areas that we saw were tidy and smelled clean. Our relative's room and bed were fresh looking and it appeared that good care was being taken.

Most of the staff were very short and condescending while speaking with my mother. You could see that they were clearly annoyed that she was calling for help so many times. Many of the workers here are senior citizens, I imagine they have been working here for like 50 years and just don't wanna give up the job, but they clearly cannot do it any longer. How can you have a 70 year old nurse assisting another 70-year-old person who is disabled getting her out of bed very unsafe. They are not equipped to handle anyone who is not bedridden. I would not ever recommend this place to anyone for any time of care unless they are truly on their very last breath.

Nicole, who handles scheduling, is also so kind and responsive -- together, they both make everything feel effortless, even though I know how much work goes on behind the scenes. Our nurse, Erin, has been such a steady, compassionate presence. She explains everything clearly, is so patient with our questions, and makes us feel truly supported. And I have to give special mention to Tanessa, our aide. My dad has never been someone who is particularly comfortable with people helping him -- but he absolutely adores her. She's not only skilled and attentive, but she brings warmth and kindness that has made this experience so much easier for him and for all of us. I wish that I could give them zero stars. Stay far away!!! The aides were so kind & could not…read morehave been more helpful, but the nurse was MIA for 3 out of 6 of my loved one's final days. On top of that, I feel like the nurse suggested that my loved one take too much morphine. My loved one passed away in the early morning hours on a Sunday, so maybe you'd have more luck on a weekday, but it was like pulling teeth to even get a nurse to come visit on that Saturday. I feel like our family was left to fend for ourselves and the whole experience left me traumatized. I can only hope that my loved one was at peace and felt no pain. I recommend hiring any other hospice to avoid running the same problems.
