After nearly 2.5 months of radio silence from them, waiting on a policy after an initial consultation after speaking with their head of small businesses, I contacted them to see where we were in the process. It took a week after this to respond and they still had not secured a policy. During this time I found another insurance agent, John Bradford in Sacramento, who found our business a policy in one week. One week! Our business did not seem to be a priority for Purves which is a shame as I also use them for car insurance and those agents have been great.

My phone and wallet were locked inside my vehicle. The gas station attendant was less than helpful or understanding and would not allow me to use the business phone. A few nice folks allowed me to call Farmers on their phones but, the 30 minute ETA I was given for the tow had come and gone several times over. I was hot, tired, hungry, and frustrated; both with myself and the call taker who misunderstood my location and who could not grasp that I could NOT access my phone to answer when the driver was looking for me (I later learned from a different state altogether ). A customer allowed me to use his phone and I ended up calling a local agent. I am quite certain Mr. Mann was about to walk out of his office for the day. Not only did he calmly listen to my frantic self but was at my location within 5 minutes with a plan. He contacted Farmers and I was back on the road shortly. If this is how he treats clients that are not even his own, I can only imagine the lengths he will go to for those who are. Thank you, sir!

We've been with State Farm for about 6 years, as long as we've had our home. We bundled everything…read morewith car insurance. When we needed them for a catastrophic drain and water issue in our kitchen, State Farm weaseled out of coverage. Heather has been great as an agent over the years; very easy to pay them over the phone, helpful when we needed to make changes for refi, sending reminders, but the people behind her were not there when we needed them. We eventually did get help for repairs and dry out but it took a lot of anxiety, time, out of pocket expense, legal consultation, and arguing with other agents in the chain (to be clear: Heather was not involved in this part of the process). Insurance companies predictably write contracts that make it difficult to make claims. State Farm at least, in my experience, has been good at using those contracts against us. Maybe insurance companies are all like this, but I was surprised and disappointed at how aggressively they interpreted any ambiguity in the contracts AGAINST our situation. The kind of flooding we had (a burst pipe collar behind our sink, in the wall) seemed like the type of thing that we have insurance for in the first place.

What appears at this point to be a simple collision has taken 3 months to manage & it is still not done. At the insistence of Farmers I took countless pictures & uploaded them on their app, I spent countless hours chasing the claims staff down & was lied to repeatedly on the status (the second claims adjuster admitted I was lied to). They do not care about the consumer on bit. The other party that rear ended me refused to cooperate so Farmers made it my problem. After finally agreeing to have the vehicle repaired I was told all the time & effort I had dedicated to upload the pictures was a waste of time & I had to spend 1/2 a day at home waiting for a Farmers claims adjuster to duplicate all my efforts. He laughed when he arrived at my home & said "yes it is duplication of work", "not sure why you were told to use the app" and then he came to the same conclusion as my original estimate. We are now 3 months into this hell & I was finally given permission to have the vehicle repaired & was told to pick up my rental vehicle at Enterprise Rent-A-Car which turned into another disaster. We own a high end SUV & they rented the smallest vehicle in the Enterprise Rent-A-Car fleet. Run do not walk away from Farmers, they will gladly take your money but when you need them they won't be there for you.
