I have been with State Farm for many decades thanks to Doug Prichard. He is friendly, approachable, and trustworthy. He investigated options for me in shaping my auto insurance coverage. He was similarly thoughtful when I needed to adjust the coverage on my house. And when it came to an umbrella policy he taught me how to assess the risks that goes into selecting coverage. We have been with State Farm in Davis since the early 80s. We started with Doug's predecessor ad have stayed to the current time. Doug insured our business, business vehicles, our home and our personal vehicles. At one time someone struck one of our delivery vehicles and tried to state that we struck them. It went to small claims court. I went, of course. Doug appeared and brought with him someone from the regional office. We won the case. I was very thankful for the backup. I've been doing my insurance business with this office for many (at least 12) years now. Their response to my questions and needs has been swift and friendly. When I call and ask for some documentation, someone answers the phone and talks with me on a first-name basis. I cannot recommend Doug Prichard highly enough. I inherited Doug through my husband's longstanding (decades-old) relationship with State Farm, albeit with another agent who retired. I was concerned because Doug was comparatively younger. After more than a decade with Doug and his office, I could not have been more wrong, or more pleased, satisfied and confident that we were now appropriately protected. Doug has the perfect professional and personal balance. We have always felt cared for, with my family's best interests at the fore. Doug patiently, with our best interests at heart, walked us through neglected insurance updates for home and auto, set up and consolidating our IRAs sprinkled at various colleges and jobs, and, despite my aversion to life insurance, advised on affordable life insurance that would serve us, especially given our age differences. Doug answered with sincerity and even enthusiasm my myriad questions. In the end, Doug's updating our auto and home insurance was divinely timed. State Farm in the whole has been excellent with auto accident claims, Doug has always been right there to walk us through the process and be sure deductibles were refunded. These were life-altering accidents that could have ruined our lives, had we not trusted Doug with recommended (affordable) updates. Unexpectedly, my poster-child healthy husband fell ill, about the time COVID-19 lockdowns started, with a serious cancer, and because of Doug's foresights, I now have a financial cushion until I can draw my own social security. You cannot do better than Doug Prichard and his office. I must add this includes Doug's staunch support during COVID-19 and its impact on the world. Somehow, I never felt shorted or limited in Doug's time, caring and protection. If Doug didn't have an answer, he was honest about that, then did all he could to find the answer. I respect and admire Doug Prichard as a family man and professional businessman. We had the pleasure to learn about his family over the years (I asked), and Doug listened and learned about ours. Doug's staff, even favorites that moved on, embody and reflect Doug's values; they've each been terrific and are also good, caring people. If you are an immigrant with a lot of driver experience outside the US/Canada, do not get a State Farm auto insurance! Kimberly is nice and willing to help, but my experience was really bad... Briefly, I went there because I bought a car short after moving to Davis and I didn't have a US driver license. They offered me a pretty reasonable prime taking into account all my foreign driver experience. But then, they asked me for documents to prove that experience and nothing was good enough. I spent 2 months trying to get these documents that they asked me for. Meanwhile the cost of the prime doubled! What I paid for six month only covered three... In the end, after trying with all the documents that I could get from here, I changed of company to one that do consider my driver experience, no questions asked, and I'm paying less than half for a better coverage. read more

For starters, I still use State Farm for personal effects coverage and looking into renters insurance and maybe auto insurance again (please see my review of esurance for explanation) even though, State Farm is not the cheapest and considering, this particular office is located 80 miles away! I love the girls that work there. I'm not saying that in any sleazy way - I'm just saying that after going there twice, they knew my name. I have a very difficult last name to pronounce, but when I call, they always know my first name after I give them my last or vice versa. Quyen Lam has been incredibly helpful for the past 6 years that I've been their customer. I can't say enough about their entire office. With many businesses resorting to outsourcing their customer service to India, State Farm has always provided outstanding customer service with a personal touch. read more

Because I have relocated to Oregon and no longer have a rental property in California, the only policy I can still keep with Doug Prichard is my life insurance. Disappointed, we had State Farm for 17 years. We relocated to So Cal due to a transfer of job change. In 17 years we were good customers with no claims. When I called to let State Farm Insurance in Davis Ca know we were moving they could not tell me if they were going to cover us until they did some background on the area. I understood that, when I did not hear back from them I called them to find out what was going on with our transfer of coverage. The lady I spoke to told me they could refer me to a broker! I asked why, she still did not come straight out to say we cannot cover you until I asked? Are you not going to cover us? She then proceeded to tell me things were pinpoint up on her screen that we were moving to a high fire area. What? Really? I bought the house, I did my homework. No it is not a high fire area and AAA with no problem took our policy. So State Farm dedicated customers, be careful. Ask questions, they may drop you one day. I've had Doug Prichard as my agent since 1998 and have always had timely, friendly, and professional customer service. A few months ago, when a nightmare happened and we had a house fire, Doug was immediately there in person and stayed until he was absolutely sure that every important detail had been handled.
