In short, my experience with Colonial Tax Consultants was easy, expertly handled, cost effective,…read moreand highly supportive. In fact, I quickly found everyone there to be highly competent, resourceful, and focused on getting me what I needed. I could actually trust and rely upon each person and every person on the team. CTCtax.com, you certainly live up to your reputation (resolving tax liabilities and ensuring my rights as a taxpayer) and you deliver on your word. What a relief! Say what you will about the hazards of tech and social media, in this case, it paid off! How else would a gal from the West Coast find an amazing tax consultant (in Denver, CO of all places) for a tax issue that had nothing to do with Colorado? Over the years, I've successfully navigated IRS/tax challenges on my own. In fact, I might be one of the few who has actually found the IRS easy to work with - some agents more than others, but overall, a good experience. Well, THAT changed! In 2020, it became nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get through to a human being at the IRS. When I was lucky enough to finally speak with an actual person, I could never resolve my pressing issues or get answers to time-sensitive questions. I was beyond frustrated and needed help. No, in fact, I was done! I just wanted a Super Hero to *handle things* for me! After a bunch of due diligence and online research, I reached out to Colonial Tax Consultants as one possible option. In comparison to the others I called, I felt reassured during my initial conversation with Rick Peart (Senior Consultant). Immediately I had information and with that new-found knowledge came choices. Given my burnout and demands on my time, I opted to hire Colonial Tax and have them take care of things on my behalf. The BEST choice I could have made. In the relatively short time it's taken to resolve my issues, I've gotten to know three of the folks in their office. Since I am out-of-state, I was initially concerned and wanted ONE point of contact. However, working with them as a team has always worked to MY benefit. Here's why - Colonial Tax Consultants is a rare breed. Their internal communication and overall systems must be in great shape, because regardless of who was helping me, everything flowed - always! I never had to repeat myself or get someone else to speed. They were always on top of things and kept me informed. Thanks to Colonial Tax's expertise and follow-through, I'm in the home stretch and on cruise control. In the end, they were able to reach what I felt was a fair agreement with the IRS and work out something sustainable for me. In addition, they found something else that I was NOT expecting and this really helped me out. Bonus! Colonial Tax Consultants... you're doing good work in the world. Thank you ALL for being my Super Heroes!

There was NO sales pitch, NO promises. Rick asked for pertinent info so he could ascertain IRS' view of the situation. He impressed that he would be back in touch in 2-3 days. When I questioned this, Rick stated he provided info and 'if' i did need tax resolution services down the road that he and Colonial Tax Consultants are here for me! Aside from his invaluable information, I was deeply touched by his sincerity and 'do-the-right-thing' philosophy.

Not Trustworthy. My experience with this accountant was extremely frustrating and unprofessional…read more Over the course of 2 months, I was repeatedly told that my tax returns were 80% done or would be finished "by the end of the week," only to discover later that no progress had been made. I followed up respectfully every 2-3 weeks to check in, but was accused in an aggressive email written in all caps "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!" and of bothering him every 2-3 days. The tone of that communication was unprofessional and unnecessarily hostile, especially given the delays and lack of transparency throughout the process. His excuse was always that he has over 400 clients to "deal" with. Reliability, honesty, and professionalism are the minimum you should expect from a tax professional, and unfortunately, those were sorely lacking in my experience. On April 15 I gave him an out by specifically asking if an extension would be filed, and was told it would be. As of May 10, I have no confirmation or documentation that this was ever done. The lack of transparency, dishonesty about the timeline, and hostile communication made this an extremely stressful and disappointing experience. I would not recommend this accountant to anyone seeking reliable, respectful, and professional service.

She's gotten my returns done on time, even when I'm late, she charges less than any other CPAs I've hired/met. Which, I want to point out that while her price has been lower, and that's great, the value she has added to my life is immensely more; and paying her is something that I'm happy to do, even when im owing to the IRS. She's pragmatic, positive, and has always responded to my (usually last minute) requests with "I've got you covered", and does it. While it shows through as a professional, Kate is really a wonderful human being. She genuinely cares about you as a person, I've never felt that I've just been a tax client. Not even close. For many of us, tax time is uncomfortable at best and for some, just plain miserable. *Raises hand*. Again for many people, taxes are incredibly personal, far beyond your salary and if you have a dependent. Your tax return puts your year (and all its highs and all its lows) in the spotlight. Your tax return is a reflection of you, and not many people, preparers, and much less both, possess the means to present you in the best light like Kate does.

Specifically, she taught me a very helpful framework that would give me clarity into what I wanted next, but also into what I actually needed. Alana thus helped me set clear boundaries and discover what my next step looked like. Once this was clear, one of the most difficult parts of my work was done. Alana is able to play a very personal role in helping you achieve your career goal. She takes her time to listen and understand your inner needs very well before she comes up with a plan. She truly believes that we all have a potential which we can achieve, if we take the right steps to get there. Once Alana understands your inner needs, she is able to easily unlock any personal or professional limitations and help you fulfill your potential by focusing on the specific areas that need action. I would highly recommend Alana to anyone who needs guidance with their career, seeks help regarding the job market, has uncertainties about the psychological part behind getting your dream job, is interested in recruiting -- her knowledge & experience around the area is incredible; or simply getting to know a gifted soul! :)

She genuinely…read morecares about you as a person, and that remains priority #1 while she lends her extensive experience in Bay Area (and beyond!) recruiting to your personal situation. Alana will take the time to understand you as a person and provide counseling beyond what could be expected of a typical 'HR-type' looking to fill their next open position. With her inside experience she is able to guide your resume, conversation skills, and expectations to highlight your skills and strengths, and help you expose potential employers to the 'you' they really want to meet. This can be difficult for those with 'engineering minds' like myself who tend to be more objective, and Alana definitely helped me step out of that box. Most recently, I worked with Alana to update and improve my resume. After a single session we had completely re-worked one section of my resume to better reflect 'my voice' and clearly state my accomplishments in a way that highlighted my abilities as well as reflecting my personality. The difference from the initial draft I sent her to the final draft I used for interviews is subtle but dramatic, and I am positive it played a role in the callbacks I received. To hand over a resume that truly represents you makes everything that follows more natural, and that is a HUGE deal when making career moves! Beyond the resume, Alana was there to talk out any concerns, nerves, and provide encouragement throughout multiple levels of interviews and offer negotiations, something that can be overwhelming for someone at any level of professional experience. She has helped me aim higher than I would have on my own and provided the insider confidence I needed to push for the best possible outcomes. Could not recommend anyone higher; do yourself and your future a favor and let Alana guide you through your next professional moves.
