They blew me off twice! Reached out for consultation after I received an email from Alaina Forbes, the office manager offering 15 minutes tax consultation: "Good morning. Thank you for reaching out. Sincerely, Alaina Forbes Office Manager" I sent an email with my question which was answered in a few hours by Errol Roy, Senior accountant, totally ignoring my question and rejecting the advice I had requested citing that they would not be able to help me since I have done my own taxes. I responded back reminding him that I was offered a free consultation and the the question I had is irrelevant to who has done my taxes. I just had a question which I elaborated in the initial email. The response I received later from Errol was "Due to our present volume of clients, we are completely booked and do not have any availability for consultation" This is not how businesses should treat their prospects. Only giving 3 stars because they did a good job on our taxes last year. This year I contacted them via Yelp and phone. After talking to multiple people I never heard back. I was supposed to receive an email with what I needed to send them to complete my taxes and never received one. Reached out via Yelp to make sure they had the right email address and still never received the email. After 3 phone calls, 1 voicemail, and multiple Yelp messages, it would've been nice to hear something back or have some sort of communication. For the most part we have had a pretty good experience over the last 2 years that we have done our taxes here. Last year when we reached out to have our taxes done and had given them our documents, I texted our person who was doing our taxes and she responded as if we were just another ticket number on her list. It was very unprofessional and unsettling. I'm sorry, but if I'm paying you over $400 to do my taxes, I expect you to be professional and responsive. Especially if I am asking you a simple question that would have taken you like less than 5 minutes. When I spoke to the so called tax professional, Errol Roy, about my taxes, I informed him very well of all the forms he would need to use for my tax return. I then asked for a quote of which he replied not more than $350. I asked multi times if that included the extra fee of getting the $1,000 within a day or two. He said it did. Now that was very expensive considering I have been using taxact.com for the past 7 years and it only cost me $18 for both state and federal! I only used this provider so I could quickly get $1,000 of my return in a day or two. Can't do that on taxact.com. I never told anyone at this company, Totality Business Solutions, that I was an accounting major at Metro State and studied taxation under Dr. Rick Crosser, when Metro State was actually a good school (Steven Jordan screwed it up badly). I never told anyone that I had already been through the H&R Block tax preparation class for people who want to prepare returns, which was managed by the owner, an Enrolled Agent! I never told anyone that I too had studied for the annual Enrolled Agent tax exam! I wanted to see how honest they are. They failed my tests. When I went in to sign my return, I questioned the lady about why my return amount was so low. I asked her about the Earned Income Credit and she told me that was already included. I figured I would have to file an amendment to my return and a complaint against them later. So I signed and left to go home and begin analyzing my return. Just as soon as I got home, I received a call from Mr. Roy, who advised me that my return was not done correctly and that he could add a serious amount to my return. I asked what was not done correctly and he stated the Earned Income Credit form was never done. That was lie because I had already spoken to the lady about it and she stated it was done. She even pointed out the amount I was suppose to receive, which was very low. He continued by telling me that for an additional cost of $150, he could get me the additional amount by using that form. My return ended up costing me almost $600 with everything. I paid it just to get my return done immediately, but won't be back ever again. Next year I will go back to taxact.com and pay $18! It is my opinion that, not only was I lied to (which I was), but I was also scammed. It seems that Mr. Roy wanted to trick me into paying the additional $150 for a form that was already done. I paid it as to avoid any type of conflict, but will never go back there again. I would also warn others to watch out for him. The problem is most don't know what to look for to begin with and that's how they get scammed without knowing it. I don't recommend Totality Business Solutions or Errol Roy at all. My recommendation is find an Enrolled Agent and go with them. Especially if you have a lot of assets! By the way, MOST CPAs are NOT tax experts! Most CPAs don't even like doing taxes, it's just another source of income so they do it. It's a lie the AICPA has pushed for years, and unfortunately, most Americans believe it because they don't question anything. read more

Prior to finding Errol our taxes were a mess, we put our trust into an accountant who had no business handling complex business taxes, as a result it left our company on the brink of ruins. I found Errol through yelp and the reviews solidified my decision to give him a try. We are so thankful we did! He has helped us overcome huge hurdles to include a tax audit and other financial/tax issues we suffered from. He and his team now handle our bookkeeping, taxes and I am stress free. Each year I dreaded tax season, but with Errol's dedication and help I no longer think twice about taxes.
