My son has had issues with reading for the last year. My son is a pretty confident kid, except when…read moreit comes to reading. My son and I both dreaded reading time because he would put up a big fight. I started looking for tutors and I came across Mrs. Moxcey's facebook page (search "Reading with Mrs. Moxcey" on Facebook). After speaking with her on the phone, we met her for an informal evaluation and she created a lesson plan for my son. He currently sees her twice a week for one-hour increments. After every session, she lets us know what concepts (i.e. vowel pairs, sounds, etc) they focused on so that we can work on the same concepts when he reads to us in the evenings. In three short weeks, we've seen such a huge improvement! Reading with him in the evenings isn't a battle anymore and he's reading at a faster pace. What I like most about Mrs. Moxcey is that she really cares. I highly recommend her tutoring service!

We are a military family and are so pleased with Berryhill Elementary! My child has some additional…read moreneeds and his teachers have been advocates for him when needed. His teachers (Mrs. Etheridge and Mrs. Wilson) have made our time at Berryhill so wonderful. Additionally, The school secretary has answered my many questions and knows my child by name; the teachers (at least the ones we have had) are very communicative and keep me in the loop with my child's needs as well as great moments to remember; the SRO is wonderful and I enjoy seeing him interact with the kids during drop off; and our MFLAC has gone above and beyond by checking on my child in the lunchroom to see why he wasn't eating his lunch. It truly takes a team to help guide children when you can't be there as a parent. Any issues or concerns that we've had have been addressed quickly and thoroughly- emails, calls, meetings, follow ups.... and if more information is needed, the appropriate staff is seeked for the right answer. And I have to add that I love seeing the school spirit at drop off and hearing music play as the kids come in! It makes school seem fun and welcoming which is a great way to begin the day!

We were very happy and enjoyed the Southern hospitality. However it didn't take long for my children (Who love school) to dread going to sleep knowing they would only have to wake up with the anxious uneasy feeling. This school was a nightmare!! I had meetings with the teachers (zero help) I then called to speak to the Principle she did in fact return my call (after 3 attempts) I spoke with her and she was very kind hearted and sweet to my face. I realized I forgot to leave her our new address information so I went back only to hear her speak with a lady beside her office. This is what I heard. (MILITARY FAMILYS they're all the same I need some wine after all that wine) I was very embarrassed and now like my children I didn't ever want to go back. I pulled my children out and we never looked back. About 3-4 months later I seen Miss Chapman at a local wing restaurant and she was very intoxicated. Not that it's a crime. It was in fact a weekend. My neighbor had also informed me the other Principal was & very much still is in a band and was a party animal and that they were very close friends with him. My personal experience with this school was very emotionally draining. Please don't make choices on my review. I just want other military family's new to the area to expand there searches and also don't be "That Military Family" This school isn't for the soft hearted by any means.

Well Happyland was the first to call after being on the waiting list and I was hesitant because it was so small and not as fancy as Crosspoint. Once we were accepted and told our new friends that our son was going to Happyland people automatically asked how we got him in there because it's one of the more desirable schools in Niceville. I guess we got lucky. Once school started my fears automatically went out the window. it's a small class, they only accept a small amount of kids so every kid gets the attention they need. The teachers were great. I don't know how to express how amazing they were with my kid and how well they treated him. They truly deserve more pay then what they get and you can tell they love being there and interacting with the kids. I saw my kid grow into a social butterfly and each week he would come home more knowledgeable then the last. I saw my friend kids come home from Crosspoint, and although Crosspoint is also a good school I was able to tell the difference between what the parents told me and what was happening at Happyland. Crosspoint is essentially Wal-Mart and Happyland is the mom and pop shop. If you have the opportunity to get your kid into Happyland, Do it. Put yourself on the wait list and wait it out, you won't be disappointed. It actually broke my heart having to tell the school that we were moving and won't be returning after the summer. You want a school with amazing teachers, great curriculum, family environment with involved parents and teachers that's care, this is the school. I will always have a happy place in my heart for Happyland. I hope I find a place in Navarre like this.

Crosspoint is very "popular" and has a very impressive facade/website. Well... we got on the waiting list as Happyland and Crosspoint were all full at the time. My child ended up going for a short time to the CDC at the NWF college. While it's nice too, we got lucky and someone moved and we were called by Happyland with an opening 3 months later. Once my child started going there, she was really happy and social and was excited about going to school everyday (unlike the Previous preschool - but I think she was having some peer trouble there). She loved Happyland all the way through and loved being with her teachers, who are genuinely wonderful! We got a call a month later from Crosspoint as well, but at the time my child was so happy at Happyland that there was no way I changing schools. While I don't have personal experience with Crosspoint - my son who is just turning three is definitely going to be going to Happyland! Yes, we were THAT happy with it!

My main issues were: - The TV was on almost every time we dropped her off or picked her up. Even during scheduled time for outside play. - The front door was propped open more often than not. I'm not sure if that was due to them just putting in a new door lock system but I do feel that it defeats the purpose of having a system at all. - The food provided wasn't even close to healthy. Most days they would have cookies or sugary cereal for snacks. The lunch menus were not posted for 7 weeks in a row due to turnover in the person did the cooking. - The final straw was a one off issue where I felt that the director did not have the children's best interest at heart.

There was a miscommunication and I was concerned why my son was not offered to go on the field trip. And when my spouse decided to talk to Callie on the phone, she wouldn't let her get a word out and was bullying her. So we hung up on her because we couldn't get a word in and she was being extremely rude. Then the next day I get an email saying my children are No longer able to attend South Walton Academy because they cannot accommodate. It's interesting because you were able to accommodate since the beginning of the school year and take my money with no problem. I also asked for half of my money back for the month of March because I paid full month of tuition for my younger child. I also have not heard anything back about the remainder of these funds. I have NEVER NEVER Received any communication with them regarding my son's care plan. I gave them a copy of the care plan before he started school and I'm never received any updates regarding it. When I ask how his day was the only responses I hear are he had a good day. And the only constructive feedback I had received was him getting out of his seat most of the times while they are eating. So if the school did try to contact me regarding his care, plan updates, I would love to see the emails or phone calls trying to contact me. Do not send your kids to the school. There was also an additional mishap where she had to close the school because the school couldn't get their funding together and this has been an ongoing issue for 3 years now. She did not tell anyone or warn anyone till it was too and the day after CHRISTMAS.. And now my child is having to suffer because the owner does not want to deal with conflict. The owner stated that the school did not shut down however it did. Over half of the staff is gone because they did not get paid and majority of the students are gone as well. I should have followed them. Do not send your children to the school. Yes I did happen 2 cuss on Feb 7th and not a week ago however I did apologize. I also have not been rude to any staff member. The only one that I was rude to in accident was Jennifer through email which was a frustration talk to text that I had accidentally sent and sent an email. There has been no harassment from myself to the staff members. I received one email from Callie regarding my message to Jennifer. And I apologize to them both. I actually really enjoyed everyone and when I expressed my concerns, my child gets kicked out of school. I also waited for Callie yesterday morning when I was getting ready to drop my son off and waited and waited for her and she never showed up but decided to send me an email. I also have never signed or received a policy or a handbook guide from South Walton. Long story short do not send your kids here if you plan on sticking up for them. You cannot have a face-to-face adult conversation with these people because if you have any negative concern, they will kick you out and exile you. They took my review down off of Google because if most of you don't know you can as a business owner have Google reviews deleted or paid to have deleted.
