I was referred by another Dr and given the wrong address. When I called got A recording for another address. When she was not in that building one of the employees told me she was across the street. When I get there A receptionist told me I was four mins late and would have to reschedule. She had was the most unprofessional receptionist I have ever met ..Luckily I am able to choose my own physician. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Cavnar-Johnson and her team for over 14 years. Her office help has been up and down over the years (which is very common in the field) but I would never go to Anyone else. Period. Her Nurse Practitioners are top- notch and I trust them all 110%. I have referred them to several friends and family. I myself was a BSN nurse for 15 years and I know enough about the medical field to look beyond office personnel issues vs. actual problems with medical care! When Dr. Cavnar-Johnson left her affiliation with Baylor, over a year ago, it was handled poorly by Baylor which and made it difficult for her to communicate with her long-standing patients. Attempts for a smooth transition for her patients were blocked by "medical red tape" and were out of her control and reflect no wrongdoing on the part of the Dr. Now Dr Cavnar-Johnson and her NPs are with Genesis Medical Group and everything is so much smoother. I am still referring friends with enthusiasm. read more

Dr. Johnson was my primary care physician for 10 years. I was not often sick but saw her for physicals. I had insurance changes that took me away. She was always friendly and I noticed her as part of our new insurance. I've been battling an illness and wanted to see her. I had to wait over 2 months to get in to Dr. Johnson and by then, I really need some medication...to continue healing. I went to her office and I was looking forward to seeing her. I even brought her some probiotic tea that has helped me. I arrived exactly 10 minutes late...due to circumstances beyond my control and congestion on Kingwood Dr (construction). I'm the type who feels you're late if you're not early. Her office has a sign offering a 10 minute grace period. I thought I made it by the skin of my teeth. There was no one at the front desk until 2 to 3 minutes after I walked in. The girl didn't say anything about the time when she came to the desk and I was the only patient in the office. She seemed to proceed as normal and then she informed me the doctor might not see me because I am too late. She told me the doctor messaged her at 13 minutes after and told her she would not see me. But the girl didn't come to the front desk and used up those 3 minutes. She knows this but doesn't seem to care. The doctor would NOT see me and sent me away. It didn't matter that I was standing in the office within the 10 minute grace period. There is no grace offered here. How convenient that no one was at the front desk...maybe everyone went home early? I will have to go to an emergency clinic to get my medication and then find another doctor. I can't see a doctor who offers no grace when they claim they do; and one who has such apathetic office staff. I wish them well anyhow. I would have left the tea for Dr. Johnson but I was so shocked by the lack of concern, a 2 month + waiting period, the 10 minute grace I never received etc...so I didn't realize I had her gift with me until I walked out. It's the thought that counts. For the record, I always offered her and her office staff grace because they have made mistakes and were never the greatest. I have waited over an hour to see her before. She was a friendly doctor...not sure how great she is in an emergency situation but other reviews seem to indicate she's not so great in a crisis situation. I can and will do better. read more

I was a patient of Dr Cavnar-Johnson for 14 years. I thought she was a good doctor because I never was really sick for the first couple of years. But, then I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, received a cortisone shot, and she showed me on my way. It turned out to be Bacterial Meningitis. I survived but the infection was in my brain and spine for 3 months. After hospital care, the team of doctors released me to be under Dr. Cavnar-Johnson's care but with specific guidelines. It worked out fine up until a couple of years ago. Office staff was never the same. Every three months there would be a different staff to deal with. Then she started to change. My visits began to switch to Dr. Cavnar-Johnson rushing in, not checking my vitals, but proceed to tell me about her problems. Whether they were her medical problems or just vacation problems. Her moods seemed to shift as well - laughing sometimes or screaming at staff other times. She would forget what medication I was taking and I always had to bring it in to remind her. The last straw was when I asked her if my blood pressure seemed higher this visit. She had to go check because she never checked before that day. She said it wasn't bad but quickly prescribed a BP pill I had never heard of. She said document your BP for 2 wks and come back. I documented my BP and saw it was normal and I went back to tell her my BP was normal and I did not even have to start on a new pill. She flipped out and screamed that she wanted me to take that pill and I need to do as she says. This was so unprofessional. I told her I had right to refuse a pill if nothing is wrong with me. She threw my file in air and ran from room screeching that she was tired of patients refusing to take meds. I asked to speak to office manager. Officer Manager apologized for Dr. Cavnar-Johnson's unprofessional behavior. She said that she has been under too much stress after Baylor took over practice and she told me two other doctors that I should see. She said this has been happening regularly and I had a right to go to the Board of Baylor St. Luke's and let them know about this incident. I thanked her for her help. I told her that I did NOT want to ever step foot in that office again. I do not trust this doctor with my health any longer. I asked for my records right then plemailed Dr. Cavnar-Johnson's office on the same day for my records. I have not received them. It has been a horrible two years and I will always make sure I go to professional doctors in Medical Center. read more

Dr. Johnson has been my primary care physician for 17 years, and my mom has been going to her for even longer. She is really an exceptional doctor. Her exams are thorough and efficient. More importantly, though, she is kind and caring. She actually listens to you and seems to really care. I highly recommend her. Before you go, it is good to know that her appointments fill up fast, so you may have to wait. She does have in her practice another doctor and nurse practitioners that can see you sooner in case of illness. The office staff is much better than in the past, and they seem to get patients in quickly once you get there. I have not waited long in the office. read more

My husband has been going to see Dr. Johnson since 2014. She would be my doctor if I could. I have seen a lot of PCP doctors and really like how knowledgeable and patient she is with my husband. She is very thorough. Her office used to run like a well oiled machine in 2018 but when she informed Baylor-St. Luke that she would no longer be under their group effective January 1st 2019; Baylor came in and closed her office doors around October 10th. She no longer had access to her own records. Between October and January Dr. Johnson had to relocate to a new facility and begin again with a new scaled down staff. This was a horrible transition time for both her prior customers and herself. Baylor-St. Luke transferred all of Dr. Johnson's patients over to Dr. Nunnery in addition to the current roster of patients that Dr. Nunnery already had. When I called Dr. Nunnery's office to ask how Nunnery could accommodate all those extra patients her staff said they had added two nurse practitioners. I agree that there are not enough people answering the phones but I believe it will smooth out as time goes on. Dr. Johnson is worth the wait. read more

Update: After reading my review Dr Johnson's office manager contacted me. They were very apologetic but did not (could not?) explain what happened or why. They did set an appointment for my mother with Dr Angela Nunnery. The letter from Baylor wasn't received until days after receiving the new insurance card. It stated that Dr Johnson changed insurance plans as of November 9. The letter was dated much later. Someone dropped the ball and they owe all of Dr Johnson's patients an explanation. read more

I was calling to make a new patient appointment. I was put on hold right away. Held for 15 minutes. Called back. Put on hold again, 10 minutes. Called back. The person was rude and disrespectful. I will be looking for another physician. If you can't hire quality staff, you probably don't do quality medicine. read more

Dr Johnson has been my physician for about 18 years. She used to be wonderful. Couldn't tell you if she still is, because you never get to see her. EVER! Her office staff is rude and disrespectful, they do not know the first thing about patient care and especially not compassion. I will be looking for a new doctor and I will most certainly discourage anyone from going to this office. read more

This doctor was a great office for years. I was a patient for a very long time. I came down with a very serious disease and was just released from the hospital after having an upper lobectomy for non small cell cancer. (upper lobe of lung removed) I was on very serious prescriptions. I questioned why they had not found out sooner and also had words with their office manager Rene. They banned me from their office very rudely. I apologized to the office manager but she would not accept the apology. I feel as a patient for over 20 years that this was very uncalled for. I would not recommend this office due to their incompetent staff. read more
