After my father passed away, I was tasked with finding a real estate agent to help sell his home,…read moreeven though I was not local. In addition to not being local, there was a reverse mortgage on the home, so I wanted to find someone who had experience with reverse mortgages and help me determine if it was worth selling or just walking away. I did some internet searching and Sabrina came up on a few local lists. I decided to reach out to her and she immediately responded and we had a call to discuss our situation. She immediately struck me as honest, compassionate and intelligent. After she looked at the house, she sent me very detailed information about the options we had and what she would recommend. My sisters are local, and decided to bring in a few other agents after meeting Sabrina, as they wanted to ensure we were picking the right agent. After meeting a few others, they immediately let me know Sabrina was their favorite. So, we hired her! Throughout the process, she was so responsive and on top of things. We were able to sell the home quickly and efficiently, and I appreciated her communication and consultation throughout the process. She also navigated the delicate situation of me and my two sisters very well, as handling a parent's estate can be emotional and my sisters were full of questions and concerns regularly, but she was well aware as the trustee, I was the final say in certain things. I highly recommend Sabrina if you are selling a home in Chico!

I did not expect him to turn up with another man Spenser Keables, claiming it was his son in his first sentence whose attitude and behavior, from beginning to end, did not indicate they were blood relatives at all, nor is it mentioned on the Dufour site that they are relatives as one would normally expect for a father/son team at one company. Curtis agreed with my initial estimate as to my house value even though I vastly overstated it deliberately and produced no facts to substantiate his opinion. In the month he revealed no useful knowledge of rooves, stucco, foundations, hvac, or other major costs, instead overstating the difficulty of simple indoor repairs. For the property I found without his help closest to my needs, I made an offer based on my own experience. He stated a new roof was necessary, which I initially took on faith, considering his statements on the Dufour site initially. Then as he did not tell me the title company handling the transaction, I gave him a cash initial deposit. Thereafter, all the indications he made as to the need of the new roof were to peripheral trim and sideboards only. He made no recommendation to perform any additional inspections besides those paid for by the seller already. In particular, he refused to inspect the attic, after I found no evidence that an entire new roof was necessary, and his excuse was to inform me he was not required to by law, after I requested cancellation due to lack of quality inspections. After his final inspection, the seller's agent continued to try to negotiate with me directly even after multiple statements I was already at the top limit of what I could afford. He totally avoided making any statement about possible damage from apparent stucco replacement of the original siding. Both him and Spencer acted entirely like salespeople, diverting attention from potential real issues, or claiming no knowledge of them, while chorusing on the simplest of features to enjoy as one might expect of car salesmen rather than buyer's agents. When things started going totally South, they started storming my front door without masks. After his final inspection he refused to answer my requests for information, instead telling me just to do what he said, and the two of them stormed my door several times when I had asked them not to, and without wearing masks. Although I could say much more, I conclude by saying he made a mistake on the cancellation form, which reports I was holding the initial deposit, after which I am led to believe he mailed the initial deposit to the seller after I declared I would proceed no further, as determined by the title company. That is, by appearances, he kept the initial deposit himself instead of putting it in escrow. I am only glad the sellers agent was honest and deposited it, because I would not have got it back otherwise. This is my second extremely frustrating interaction with Dufour agents. The previous agent, who cut a deal on both sides then charged me the full commission at the title company, sold me a mobile home and closed escrow before I had a credit check to get in, which might have resulted in me not being able to live in the property I'd just bought. When I tried to repair the situation, she ordered me never to contact Dufour again, and shortly thereafter, Im told she was fired.

She did an awesome job in advertising with signs, pamphlets and the photographer she chose made the house look even better... It sold in 2 weeks!!! The quick of it is: Sima did not do comps prior to listing our home. She overpriced it and then wanted to drop it dramatically 13 days in. When we attempted to address numerous issues with her, we kept getting "I thought we were friends". Um, we can be friendly, but no, this is business. Instead of focusing on saleable elements, Sima recommended repairs and replacements on items that, in the grand scheme of it, were completely unjustified. She knew the curb appeal would be critical, yet we spent 10 hours with her handyman swapping out 4 hard water stained toilets instead. We don't sell houses for a living and, to our detriment, relied upon her expertise to guide us which, in hindsight, we should have questioned. But isn't that why you're paying that commission? Hiring a professional? The day after the contract expired, shortly after our first responder went to sleep, there was a knock at the door followed by the turn of a key and someone calling into the foyer. It was an agent saying he had an appointment. Behind him were his clients. According to him he reached out to Sima the day before to schedule the viewing. She failed to notify me and failed to inform him that the contract would be expired. The agent was very kind and left with his clients, leaving the key from the lockbox with me. When I texted Sima instructing her to remove the signage and lockbox immediately, she said it would have to be the following day. I firmly said no, it would have to be immediately. [See text messages herein] The story doesn't end there. We since learned that Sima had slandered us and have recorded evidence. We question her ethics as she proved to be grossly negligent at a number of levels. If you are considering using her to broker your home, we highly encourage you to look elsewhere. Chico is inundated with brokers.

She started guiding us on how to prep our house for sale and began to show us what was on the market. Long story short, after Becky had worked so hard to get us what we wanted, we walked out on an offer at the last minute of contingency. She was so gracious and lovely about it! When we got ready (again) about a year after that, Becky was ready to help us again and NEVER said word one about how we had left her at the altar the last time. This time around we found a fixer-upper by the park immediately, and our realtor recommended several professionals to contribute to our remodel when it seemed that nobody was available. She got our large house sold, after much work and lowering of our expectations, paying for some of the buyer-requested repairs herself to get the deal done. Through all of this, her sunny personality and down to earth honesty kept us going when we needed a boost. Becky is still supporting us now, after we have owned our new house for three months! He is quite thorough and will stop at nothing to ensure that his client is receiving the highest level of service. I've found Dustin to be extremely knowledgeable when it came to the local market, kind, and very patient with my myriad questions. He made the remote buying process a breeze and was able to creatively negotiate with the seller to where I was able to secure a purchase price UNDER asking - which is almost unheard of in this current market. I can't wait to enjoy many years in my new home, but when I'm ready to buy or sell in the future, I'll know exactly who to call. Thanks, Dustin and team! You have a customer for life.
