Small in terms of socio economic pecking order, yet large in terms of square footage, this Middle Eastern supermarket is quite frankly a shambles. They have a great range of products, everything from take away fast food to mobile phone accessories: range good, quality - not so good.. The pizzas are especially un reccommendable as a friend of mine claims to have seen dead flies among the pizza toppings. The front of the store is coscaded with an weird array of things: electronics, cakes and vegetables. They often have an open truck full of hanging lamb carcasses infront of the store not very appealing. The service is very poor as the staff send most of their time yelling at one another rather than paying attention to you, the customer. read more

Marwa is a pretty big store. They sell a range of almost every food product and convenience product that you could need. They also do a 12 inch £2.99 pizza which is really good value for money however doesn't taste great just average. At the front of their store they do mobile phone covers and unlocking services at a competitive price. They also sell cakes and other sweet foods at the front of their store. I would say the service their is average but a convenient place to go if you want the odd bits and pieces. Its pretty cheap there but not 99p store cheap. read more

I'm giving this shop 3 stars because it sells Middle Eastern foods (especially spices) you can't get anywhere at very reasonable prices, and because of the truly excellent Middle Eastern sweets counter. Not only that, but you can buy Turkish coffee there and unusual teas. I would give it 4 stars but for the abysmal naan/pizza/chicken counter. That counter is a disgrace quite frankly. You have to explain your order to a toothless old man who can barely understand what you're saying (when he hears it). He may prepare others' food before yours, and is quite likely to forget your order in the process even if you're standing right in front of him. He doesn't check your 'paid' ticket, so people are quite free to go up there are ask for what they want as if they paid for it. Sometimes he will give a free naan to whoever he wants. He refuses to write anything down at all and relies on his own very weak memory when taking orders. As a result you could be standing around for half an hour and have no idea whether he has any recollection that you ordered some food. He has about a 50/50 hit rate of success when preparing naans: watch him and you'll see he bins half of what he makes because it comes out messed up due to his lack of skill with a pair of tongs. You always feel ripped off because he has no interest in seeing your ticket, or checking whether you've actually paid. You can't help wondering whether you could have simply asked for what you wanted and then walked off with what they asked for, for free. Or how many other people are in the habit of doing exactly that. Experiences at the naan/pizza/chicken counter depend heavily on how lucky you are that day. If it wasn't for the lack of organisational competence of the guy serving fresh naans/pizzas/chicken, this would be a perfect superstore, as it stocks all of my favourite foods. read more
