Marvin's Garden is a very small park named after Marvin Sjoberg the former "Honorary Mayor" of Ballard. One of the most distinguishing features of this park is the Ballard Centennial Bell Tower. The tower holds the bell that used to be part of the old Ballard City Hall at the top. From 1890 to 1907 Ballard was actually not a part of Seattle but it's own city. The tower was dedicated in 1989. The old city hall building was damaged in 1965 by the earthquake. A few years later the building was demolished. The bell was repaired and refurbished in 1976. There is a plaque on the left side of the bell tower stating that the Ballard Avenue Historic District is a Registered National Historic Place. There is another plaque on the right side explaining when the tower was dedicated. Finally there is another plaque directly under the bell tower on the ground commemorating the 1989 dedication of the tower. The park also co rains a plaque for the planting of the Centennial Tree marking the anniversary of the incorporation of Ballard into the city of Seattle. It's a small park in a cute area. A nice place to take a tea of coffee and relax.

By far one of my favorite viewpoints of Seattle!! Kerry Park is a must stop if you are in the…read moreSeattle area. A couple things to consider as you are planning your trip to Kerry Park: 1) the park is located on a extremely steep hill (you can definitely walk to it, but you'll likely be exhausted walking all the way up to the top from lower Queen Anne), 2) if you are driving it may take some time to find parking as the park is tucked away in a neighborhood, and 3) Mount rainier is viewable from the park on a clear day, you'll want to stop by on a sunny and clear day if possible (the view is still beautiful if the weather is overcast, but it's even better if it's sunny and clear). When you arrive to Kerry Park you'll be greeted with a postcard perfect view of Seattle/the puget sound, and a relaxing atmosphere. It can get busy but spots will naturally open up where you can take photos. I'd recommend going close to sunset if you can time it. Btw, if you are a Grey's anatomy fan some of the house filmed at are tucked away in the Queen Anne neighborhood.

Even though it was a cloudier day, we still have a beautiful view of the city skyline. We found street parking nearby. It's located in a gorgeous neighborhood. They have a few benches and a sculpture in the middle. It's not that big of space, but a great quick photo opp.
