Dr. Bortz is not only an exceptionally skilled surgeon, but also thoughtful and compassionate. Anthony, who worked closely with him throughout the entire process, was attentive to every detail and truly made me feel supported and at ease. I had a carcinoma removed from my scalp -- something very delicate, especially as a woman. I was truly impressed by the level of care and attention they gave me. They made sure to remove the smallest possible amount of hair, and someone on the team even braided sections of it to help preserve as much as they could. When the bandage was removed, I was honestly surprised: the incision was minimal, the scar was thin and clean, and the healing process went better than I could have hoped for. This team turned what could have been a frightening and emotional experience into one filled with professionalism, kindness, and true care. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been in their hands.

The staff are professional, responsive and organized. The natural look of his surgery is a good thing as you don't want to look "done", you want to look natural and rested post op. When I was growing up, I watched my grandpa die slowly from melanoma. In the summer of 2015, when I…read morewas 22 years old, I was officially diagnosed with an in-situ type of melanoma (skin cancer). It was too large to be cut out at the office. Dr. Stephen Daane was kind in delivering me the news and describing the path I needed to take to get the cancer removed before it spread. He clearly communicated it was an urgent matter, and that if I did not have it removed as soon as possible it could grow and spread. Spread far enough and I would need chemotherapy. He was also effective in communicating that they would not know until they went in to remove it whether or not the cancer had spread. Come the day of the surgery, I was unfamiliar with the procedure. Remove one's clothing, put on a gown, put one's clothing in a bag, then in a locker, and it would be retrieved after the surgery. No metal was allowed in the case of resuscitation (like CPR) being necessary. The melanoma was not too far from my spine on my back, and Dr. Daane and his helpers were successful in getting all of the cancer out. As of writing this review, on Sunday 30 April 2023, I am 30 years old and still grateful things went well. My only one downside, the reason for the 4 and not a 5 star review, was that parking on each of my visits to the office was horrible. San Francisco parking in general can be gnarly, and this area was no exception. I found allocating a little bit of extra time to find parking to be helpful.

I couldn't be happier that I kept searching for the right surgeon for me…read more Years ago, I had my original surgery with Dr. Prescott (at the same clinic Dr. Eberlin now leads). From consultation to post-op care, I had zero complaints. Fast forward 18 years - my results were still amazing with no issues at all. I simply decided I wanted to switch from saline to silicone. I was sad to hear Dr. Prescott had retired, so I consulted with two other surgeons - one of whom came highly recommended in Folsom. Unfortunately, I didn't feel confident moving forward. Both told me they would need to create a new incision under my breast for the implant exchange. I asked why we couldn't go through my original incision (which is barely visible along my lower areola line), and they said reopening it wasn't a good idea and wasn't even an option. When I met Dr. Eberlin, everything changed. I was immediately relieved when I asked where the new incision would need to be, and without hesitation he said we could use my existing incision. He explained that I had healed beautifully and that areolar incisions are known to heal very well and offer natural camouflage compared to the 3-4 inch incisions that some surgeons still make under the breast. He also uses the Keller Funnel technique, something many top surgeons use - which allows for a "no-touch" implant placement. This reduces the risk of bacterial contamination and, in my case, allowed him to go through my original incision. That was incredibly important to me. If you're considering this procedure, I would highly recommend watching videos on how the Keller Funnel works. Unless you are choosing extremely large implants, in my opinion it's a much better approach than creating a larger incision under the breast. From the moment I left my consultation, I knew I would proceed with him. I never felt pressured or rushed. It felt like a thoughtful, genuine conversation. He gave his professional opinion when I asked, but ultimately empowered me to decide on the size and approach that felt right for me. On surgery day, he came in to speak with me beforehand and made sure I felt completely comfortable. Again, no rushing - just calm, confident care. Beyond his technical skill, he is simply a kind and caring human being. You can tell he truly loves what he does and is passionate about his work. I am beyond happy and so grateful I found him.
