I ended up at Dockside, and man, was I glad I did! First, they offer waterside outside seating, lots of free parking, and $18 specials if you get here before 5pm. The offer some spectacular shrimp, super fresh flounder, and better-than- average crab cakes. Coleslaw was very good. Service is prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. I found out that Chowhound recently rated the best restaurants for fried seafood in each state, and Dockside earned the best in Virginia, and well deserved IMHO.

My family and I met the tiki boat at lynnhaven public boat ramp. Captain Robbie was our guide he greeted everyone with a smile and a lei that was a nice touch. The boat was a 30 by 15 foot pontoon boat wonderfully decorated tiki style with ample comfortable seating no matter where you sit had a great view of the inlet.Learned a lot about the inlet on the cruise over to our first destination lots of bars restaurants and beautiful houses cruising down the river every one waving at us. Tiki boats bring good vibes . We then arrived at the park beach Captain Robbie expertly docked us. Had a swim call and picnic it was so nice pretty much had the place to ourselves. Then back on board to cruise the rest of the inlet. Watched a beautiful sunset! I am really happy with this tiki trip my daughter said it was the highlight of her week. Our guide was captain Donny and he was wonderful. He was very informative about the area and the history of the lighthouses. He was also very engaging and asked us our comfort level because the water was very choppy. The dolphin watching was amazing. I would definitely go back.

We had wanted to give a birthday gift of a fishing trip to grandpa and one of our kids and we're going to be in the area and we're so happy we found Blind Date Charters. The boat was great, we caught a bunch of fish and the kids and adults had a wonderful time. We did the 1/2 day which was perfect for our group considering we had kids. I called the main number on several occasions and nobody returned my call. The website indicates some of these sellers are motivated. However, I don't believe they'd be happy to know potential buyers are being turned away due to poor customer service.

My boyfriend and I called GoKayak this past Monday (July 5) to join a 2 hour guided dolphin tour by…read moreFirst Landing State Park the next morning ($119 for 2 ppl). Bryan was very helpful in getting us set up (and also kept asking if we could handle 2 hours haha). The next morning we met up with the tour guide Will at 840am and signed the waiver before starting the tour at 9am. Will was very helpful in getting us situated and starting to paddle. My boyfriend's kayaked once but this was my first time and it wasn't bad! Will provided some ecosystem information but unfortunately we didn't see any dolphins (he said there were 6 or 7 who lived in the area). We finally saw three or four dolphin fins in the water once we reached the dock and unloaded at 11am, the end of the tour. Unfortunately most of the time was spent either paddling or trying to spot dolphins so not too much conversation was made during the tour but it was still interesting and fun for my first time. Hopefully if we get another chance to come down to VA, we can see the dolphins and enjoy another tour. Pro tip is to wear waterproof shorts because your butt and legs get wet. Also bring a towel in the car and make sure to put lots of sunscreen on before the tour. Our tour was July 6th 9am to 11am and it was hella nice til 10am when the sun greeted us veeeeery well. A hat would help!
