They only brought out 3 tiny dishes of sweet potato, pasta, and kimchi. I am used to a more varied selection of at least 6-8 mini dishes to start the meal off. The kimchi was fantastic though! I will give them that. I don't know if that's how they do here in Australia or just at this particular restaurant. Our meals came out in an appropriate amount of time. I ordered the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap and it was pretty tasty. Not the best I have ever had but filled the craving. We also had the No. 22 with chicken and rice and spicy seafood soup. The ladies are now fans of Korean food! :) The water they served us was really nice and ice cold. The service will come to you if you need them but they won't really bother you. When you're ready to go, you just come to the counter and pay there. After going to eat here, my roommate and I discussed Korean food. But luckily, they are with someone who never scares to try new food in a new restaurant. And that 'someone' is me! The only thing I'd change, aside from the reception was probably less sour cream. A touch was nice, but there was a rather large glob of it and I had excess upon finishing the wings and fries. The meal came out quite quickly and I was impressed with the freshness of the hot battered pork chop. There was ample rice and tastily gluey curry sauce. There's plenty on the menu that has piqued my interest. There's also a sushi train with dishes ranging from $3-8. I'll be coming back to venture beyond good old reliable Japanese curry.

However, after giving it another try for dinner one evening, I con quite confidently say that the much touted Korean places in the city (Maru and Madtongsan - I'm looking at you!) have another competitor that can go toe-to-toe. The first thing that separates Noritor is that it's on the ground level and has ample open space for everyone to sit comfortably in the semi-open air restaurant. The second is that Noritor specializes in dol sot bibimbap (stone rice pot). I've tried the beef and spicy calamari options on 2 separate occasions and have walked away satisfied. Particularly with the calamari, I found that there was ample squid and the level of spicy sauce and gochujang (tangy chili sauce) mixes well together. There are the typical shredded carrots, cucumber and sprouts, and I normally take the kimchi side and mix it into the stone bowl as well to give the dish an added kick. Noritor also touts itself as a Korean-Japanese restaurant so naturally I had to try the karaage (fried chicken). It was quite different from what I'm used to since the chicken was drizzled with sweet Japanese mayonnaise and mustard. Typically, the chicken comes with a side of ponzu or is just served dry. However, this interesting little mix of sauces wasn't bad at all! Also, the chicken had the right amount of moisture and was not dry in any sense of the word. Prices were in the normal-higher range for the Korean restaurants. $15 for the dol sot bibimbap and $7 for the karaage. The service was a bit chaotic since it seemed like there was only 1 person running around for the entire place. However, it was fairly well organized and the food came out in a timely manner. Definitely a place to try for lunch and/or dinner. The only downside is that the air conditioning doesn't seem to be turned on since the restaurant is open to the street. Therefore, if you're looking to eat any hot food, you might find yourself sweating a little bit. But otherwise, good food and good environment equals a satisfied customer.

This might not be a fair criticism, as I have a pretty big appetite coupled with the fact that I hadn't eaten lunch that day, so it's likely I would have been disappointed with anything less than the whole cow. I tucked in and sadly I was disappointed again. The flavour was lovely but it just wasn't strong enough for my taste. My dish also came served with a small bowl of rice, as did all the mains. I'm fairly sure this wasn't the correct way to eat it but I improvised and threw the rice in my soup, making a thicker concoction and I'm sure any staff watching me glower in disapproval.
