I will start by saying this, Marty the owner is amazing. My husband worked for his company for 50 years, His boss alway told him take care of the customer. Called for appliance repair service. The man that answered said I had to call some other repair service but his phone kept cutting in and out so he had to repeat information and he did NOT like that. After 3 attempts he screamed a name into the phone but when I called that number, the service is permanently closed. We live in Lake Tahoe and Marty's installed our Jen Air 20 years ago and then when it died, installed our new Kitchen Aid oven. They are the best. We did wait awhile for the oven and then there was an issue with the down draft, but that wasn't their fault. I highly recommend this company. The two installers were very polite and respectful of our home. I'll always recommend this company. Hopefully, though, this will be our last oven. read more

My dryer wasn't heating properly and I called Marty's for a service call. Erik answered my call, asked me a couple of questions about the problem, and recommended an easy check to possibly correct the problem. His suggestion worked, the dryer is now heating properly. Gayle and I recently had a very positive experience at the Marty's Appliance store and with the employee who installed our microwave. We are a couple months into our new house and the first appliance challenge was our microwave that shut down in the middle of re-heating a cup of coffee. The previous owners of our home left everything in first class shape, and in this case the microwave turned out to be 20 years old. So things happen. We figured that the fuse blew and realizing the age of the appliance and the effort it would take to remove it from the built-in and repair, we opted to buy a new unit. So, I did some Yelp research and found Marty's Appliance as a local small business with great recommendations. So we drove down to the shop (with measurements) and I'd say within a half hour, we picked out a unit and set a date for installation. We talked with Marty himself, who was very knowledgeable and interactive on what we needed. We settled on a nice Whirlpool unit and paid what I thought was a good price (with installation, including hauling the old unit away). The only downside to our visit is our feeling that mask usage among store employees could be improved. But unlike other reviewers on this page, I'm not willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater. But I will deduct 1 star from an otherwise stellar consumer experience. In the several day interval between purchase and installation, we came to realize all the ways we use a microwave, and what we were missing. Gayle depends on it as the kitchen clock, while we had long lost count on how many reheat tasks we perform. So when the new unit was installed, it was like welcoming back an old friend. The installation guy (who was wearing a mask) was great and diagnosed that the fuse blew, which then tripped the breaker. We also learned through this experience that microwaves usually have a 1 year warrantee and that it's almost always easier and cheaper to buy a new unit, rather than repair. The fact that our old unit was almost 20 years was fairly impressive for what I understand about microwaves. Anyway, who knows when the next appliance challenge will present itself. But if and when it does, Marty's Appliance will be a prime consideration. read more

I called Marty looking for a soap dispenser part to my dishwasher. He found the part and advised the cost of repair. At this time it's difficult for us to do the repair but he told me you don't have to fix it now, you can still use it just throw the soap pod inside the washer after you load it. I loved the fact he didn't push the repair but took the time to give me advice. Great guy, it's hard to find appliance repair people these days . read more

We have purchased several appliances from Marty's Appliance. We find Marty to be a straight shooter and fair with pricing. They have a large inventory so we've always been able to get our appliances quickly. Recently I was looking for a Kitchen Aid dishwasher and didn't see it available on Marty's website so I went to the KitchenAid website and it was available there. But thinking we prefer to shop locally, I went to Marty's Appliance in person to check on availability and Marty said that he had the dishwasher - on sale - and could be delivered in a few days. Woo hoo! I learned through this price checking endeavor that Marty's prices are fair and honest. If you're going to have an appliance delivered and installed, I would lean towards purchasing through Marty's Appliance because they're reputable and their workers are vetted. You don't know who will show up if you buy online. I also didn't get a good vibe from the KitchenAid website. Why would a manufacturer sell their product and compete with the merchants who sell their products, often times under-cutting them in pricing? I feel KitchenAid should be directing online customers to their distributors. All I could think is that KitchenAid is re-selling merchandise - maybe refurbished, sold as new. They accept returns, so it's plausible. That's just my guess. I'm sticking with Marty's because every experience we've had has been positive. read more

My 15 month old refrigerator stopped working and needed a new compressor. I called Maytag and they couldn't/wouldn't help me. Yelp Marty's Appliance My wife and I sincerely do not recommend Marty's appliance, and here's why... We went to Martys Appliance on the recommendation of our only local appliance repair man. Being from a nearby small community we wanted to support a local business. He highly recommended Martys. When we got to Martys, we discovered he only carried stainless steel appliances. The white model we came to find out was $150 more expensive than what we heard from the repairman and what we saw on big box store's websites. Plus $200 for installation. We went ahead: ordered, scheduled the delivery, and paid for it. After the installation crew had arrived and removed the old dishwasher, they began installing the new dishwasher. The problems began when the handle to the water supply valve broke off and flooded the kitchen and laundry room. The crew had to scramble to open the water meter box at the curb, as it was the only shut off. Things got worse when the crew discovered they did not have the right adapter to connect to the water supply as we have a modular home. Why they were not prepared for this eventuality is beyond me. In a rush, they decided to leave the front, lower panel off the dishwasher in case we had to (for some reason) change the water supply hose to the old hose; which they left on the floor. This made no sense because changing that hose would require removing the dishwasher. I was forced to call a handyman, and beg him to come quickly to connect the water supply to the dishwasher. The handyman was floored that they had not done this part of the install themselves. He was forced to go to town twice to get the proper adapter and supplies as I live 4 miles from the nearest hardware store. His services cost $175.00. Later, it was discovered that they had only put one screw to hold the dishwasher in place under the counter when it fell forward much to my wife's surprise. Not only that, but also the crew had left the water shut off tool standing up out of the meter box for all to see. Our last disappointment came when I finally spoke to the manager, Patrick, who would only refund $50 for our trouble. Suffice it to say, I am very disappointed in the sales and service of Marty's Appliance except everyone was friendly and timely. read more

I needed to replace the flooring in my guest house and wanted to put in a new fridge and dishwasher. So I bought them at Marty's but I wanted the old ones out before floor went in. His guys came out and took the old ones and now the floor is done and they will bring the new ones. Most places would only take out old ones and install new ones in the same visit.. My refrigerator died after over thirty years. I was recommended to go to marty's appliances cause I'm new to the area. Patrick, who I spoke to, was so helpful and so friendly and not high pressure. That he made buying a new refrigerator easy, breezy. He gave me a fair price on the refrigerator, but I still did some looking around and went back there, probably 2, maybe 3 weeks later. And they still honored the price that he quoted me. I highly recommend Marty's appliances. If you're looking for any kitchen product, they have good products at fair prices. And also kudos to the 2 gentlemen. That brought my refrigerator and installed it. They even gave me a little bit of time to clean behind the refrigerator. They were on time, they were friendly. We rent and are not usually happy with the service people chosen by the rental agency. We have been very satisfied both times they have come to do repairs. They are prepared with the parts and tools, the people know what they are doing and do the job well. They are in and out quickly. I wanted a new slide in propane range and at first i thought home depot would have better options and cheaper prices but no on all counts.....minimum 2 months delivery, Home depot wont deliver, wouldn't do gas to propane conversion, and if they dont deliver and install it themselves, it nulls out the warranties. Martys Appliance had the range i wanted in stock, they deliver for free the week I order it, did the gas conversion for $75, and all warranties are still valid. They delivered on time, and their staff were competent and friendly. I am glad I bought my range here :-) read more

I'm so incredibly disappointed! I'm looking for a new range and did some homework at the big box stores in Carson City. I purposely waited the rest of the week for Small Business Saturday to drive the 30 minutes from our home down to Marty's in Gardnerville. I purchased a dryer here from a wonderful fella named Patrick earlier this year and have used their service department, which is top-notch, a couple times in the past couple years. I'm having our entire kitchen and family-room remodeled. I brought my checkbook and was fully prepared to and intended to write a check for a couple thousand (give or take). My intention was to be able to cross a new range off my list. I just need it delivered... the contractor will install when he's ready and I donated our previous 3-year old model, so nothing to haul away. I was greeted by a very nice fella named Anthony, who let me know right off the bat he was an installer, but was happy to help me as best he could. After about 15 minutes of him doing his best to guide me, he finally called for the "boss." An older fella (I'm 60) walked over and his shirt indicated "Marty". I assume he's the owner. I thought we'd soon sew this deal up. Instead, things went downhill. Marty's demeanor was incredibly indifferent, not rude, just cold. He spent a few minutes with me than wandered away behind the counter. He did get a call or two about some service-related issues and I thought he'd return. He didn't and I was the only customer in the store. He stood about 20' away from me behind the counter and gave off an awful customer-service attitude. In my mind, I'd settled on a $1,500 Whirlpool, dual-oven and I asked if the floor model was the only one available, because it had a dent, really more like a dimple on the top part in the back. He laughed and boasted he had a "million dollar inventory in the warehouse and that was just the floor-model." During all this Anthony was trying to print-off some specs for me to look at and he asked Marty how to do it. Marty's reply was, "well I don't know, I don't think he knows what he wants does he?" I stood over the range for a few minutes basically fuming and decided I'm NOT going to give my money to someone so cold and indifferent to me. I sure didn't expect the red-carpet, but they weren't busy at all and Marty really just gave me the cold-shoulder. I turned and left the store and drove straight home. I'm writing this about 45 minutes later... I feel disrespected. I owned a small business for 20+ years and I know many customers can often be a handful. I know how to be a good and polite customer, but am afraid Marty's forgotten how to be a good purveyor. Marty has a nice store and by all accounts has built and maintained a wonderful business over many years, but I can't believe it was built like this. Read my other reviews... I'm not the type to throw stones. I like finding people doing things right and praising them... but my experience at Marty's was awful and I feel I need to share it. read more

Purchased a lemon of a product from this company. Out of the box one of the range burners never worked. A service call to look at and another to replace parts several weeks apart and one would think all would be well. But within two months of having the range the oven went out. Another service call and a circuit board was replaced. They refuse to replace the appliance with a new one only keep replacing parts for something that keeps failing. read more

I was having a horrible time trying to find a washer AND dryer that was in stock, not to mention they have to be stacked and I learned that it's such a hassle!! I was recommended to Marty's by a friend and now I know why. They were super friendly and understanding of my situation and they had some great machines IN STOCK and at a great price!! Not only that, the install crew was exceptional!!! Talk about a one stop shop, they also will service my stacked machines which I was having major issues in finding someone to do that with!! We contacted Marty to purchase all new kitchen appliances and were promised he would go by the house to measure for each and would then work with us for the purchase. We prefer to work with local businesses rather than big box stores. Marty strung us along for four weeks with promises, promises, promises to measure so we could begin the process. Finally we were forced to go to a big box retailer because Marty was missing in action. How do people like him stay in business? This is a man whose word is completely worthless. read more

Marty's was a disappointment. We went in looking to develop a relationship and do business with a local business and found after the sale, Patrick could not remember our name. During the process of deciding to buy from them or not, I had a conversation one time with Marty himself and he said "we live with our customers". My take was ok, this company is going to be much better than the impersonal National chains, like Home Depot or Lowes, but was I wrong. Frankly Patrick can be rather rude on the phone or indifferent in person, really less than friendly, a real don't bother me attitude. We got your money, so move on. We spend over 8300 dollars for all our appliances, washer, dryer, refrigerator, dishwasher, range and microwave, you would think the guy would remember your name, but guess we are small fish. And what make is worse is we spend more to do business with this yahoo. So the moral here is to do business with them only the if the price is right otherwise move on. read more

We bought out washer dryer from Martys a few years ago, it was the best price and the most knowledgeable staff at and appliance store we had been in! My dryer started making a horrible sound the repair man cam out to fix it (of course we did have to wait a few days as they had other service calls) he was professional, and he cleaned up the mess he made! They have a large selection of appliances in different finishes and sizes. They sales team is extremely knowledgeable and walked me through all my options since I needed three appliances. I selected what I wanted and left with a quote. I called back a month later to compete the transaction and setup delivery. The team that came out to install my appliances were one of the best delivery teams I've ever dealt with. They really took their time, ensured to cause no damage, and walked me through how to operate all of my new appliances before they left.
