We purchased a dog from a pet store that was sold to a broker by this mill "breeder". I do not support pet stores or the puppy mill industry but I was tipped off to a dog dying in the care of a store which they purchased from these mills. She is a Scottish Terrier with inherited autoimmune meningitis. We have saved her from 3 relapses in her short (under a year) lifespan. These mills share dogs with their relatives who also run mills like this spread across a select states then sell litters to a prominent broker for the Amish community who then ships them, very young, to pet stores all over the US. Buyer beware and do your research on the Amish puppy business. Looking nice and quality, health tested breeding are 2 very different things. I committed to saving this pup despite the thousands in vet bills, daily meds, and a shortened life span. It's hard knowing any little thing could trigger an AI response and we could lose pup but I have peace knowing we've given a loving home and pup won't die alone in a kennel suffering. We picked up Kirby, now Pickles a week ago. Such a sweet boy! When we brought him home to our surprise he was potty trained!! We had no idea that he would be, and of what a nice surprise. We first saw Pickles on Lancaster Puppies and fell in love with his picture. We put down a deposit and Erla was kind enough to hold him for a few weeks as we were coming in from NY. Naturally I think all prospective pet parents research any kennel to no end before going to see their prospective pets. I saw good reviews across multiple sites, but I'm personally always hesitant until I see something in person. As we walked up to the door, we saw a cat in the window who was hanging out with the puppies. As we entered we saw the same cat then walking around and balancing on the puppies dividers. Although we do not have a cat, I thought it was fantastic that the pups had this exposure at a young age so that all puppies born here will be able to live peacefully in any home with a cat. The puppies living area was clean and had enough space for them to be comfortable. The day after we picked up our dog we took him to a vet to make sure he was healthy. They told me he was in perfect health, and was well developed for his age. We are so happy with Pickles, and when we are ready for a second dog we will go back to Erla. read more

We purchased from Martins E. Kennel on 2/22/2022. Our "Cru" has unfortunately passed away after an experience with "giardia" according to our veterinarian. Overall, he seemed fine but a bit less energetic for a puppy and not so enthusiastic in general. Our veterinarian had concerns as well but we thought this might just be his "personality". He began vomiting and having diarrhea over the course of 6-8 hours prior to our finding him in a still state. I spoke with Erla who stated that she needed to seek advise from her "nephew" to replace our puppy. So far, no result. After further follow-up regarding this particular "facility" it seems as though this may, in fact, be a "puppy mill". I am hoping that we will see a resolution to our issues as our children have absolutely LOVED their puppy - despite the issues. As you can imagine, it is very difficult to explain this loss to a 3/4 year old child. No one seems to be very empathetic or responsive. You will find our veterinarian records shown here which reflects the parasitical state of the puppy. EDIT TO ADD: This is the "facility" claiming we exposed the puppy to Clorox and/or rat poison. EDIT TO ADD: I spoke to Erla and she mentioned having to confirm with the veterinarian that the puppy has now deceased. This will absolutely go uncontested. He is no longer with us. However, whomever is posting here has some serious issues. We are not looking for a "free puppy". We simply want one that has a full bill of health is likely to be with us for years to come. You are essentially heartless by your response. I will be contact you tomorrow for a resolution yet again, and hope to be satisfied in some manner. We had hoped to adopt our puppy's "brother" simply out of love, but clearly, this is being used as a part of your scheme to prevent yourself from any accountability. Bank check sent with a "partial" refund was denied by my bank as this business put a STOP PAY on it, therefore, they got away with selling a sickly dog as well as not following through with their "promise" that a refund would be issued per their policy. This "business" has removed their page from social media in lieu of this review INCLUDING their original YELP page. I purchased my Scottish Terrier Maggie (rename) back in 2012. She is the sweetest dog there ever was. She has been healthy, happy, and loves my grandchildren. We picked her up in April and she was born in February. I would love to get another Scottie and would definitely go back here. Maggie is going strong. She even swims in our unground pool with the kids in the summer. This breed is not known for swimming. She goes in by the stairs and comes out the stairs. We alll just Love Her to bits. **DO NOT GET YOUR FUR BABY FROM HERE!!** I have had my sweet Sawyer, a Havaton formally known as Carl, for 3 years, and he has JUST now been given a clean bill of health....as in yesterday. -- I honestly do not know where to begin with his health issues. Upon his 1st vet visit, scheduled within 7 days of having him home, his vet noticed a large umbilical hernia. She was shocked that the breeder hadn't noticed it because any reputable, loving, breeder would have noted this in their dog. He obviously was not getting any one-on-one attention from the breeders. I contacted the owners and they reimbursed me for his hernia surgery without any problems. 1...Within the first month of having Sawyer home, he had several emergency vet visits. The 1st was because he was having difficulty breathing. After a CT scan, the vet said he has a collapsed trachea. A collapsed trachea is common in small dogs, but in small OLDER dogs. Not in a 12 week old puppy. The damage to his trachea appeared to be due to blunt force trauma. I work from home and do not have little kids visiting, only my older parents. This trauma did NOT happen in my care as I am with him 24/7. 2....That same week he was rushed back to the emergency vet because he became lethargic and limp. I found 2 MAGGOTS in him!!!! The kennel they were keeping my Sawyer was beyond filthy!!!! They maggots passed a horrible infection to my poor dog! -- I am sure you are wondering, "Why are you JUST now posting a review??" Well, yesterday at his vet she was so happy this his bloodwork FINALLY came back 100% normal! She said, "He's had a long road, but we made it!" It's then I realized that I needed to share my experience about this place. I wish I trusted my instincts, but I am glad that my sweet Sawyer is part of my family, because at the end of the day I rescued him from this AWFUL puppy mill. I was looking for a scottish terrier breeder a month ago, and Martin's Kennel was one of the few places in the area that bred them. The so-called "Puppy Tales" on their website are generally positive and numerous, so I thought they would be pretty reputable. The location is on a farm. When we arrived, we were taken to the kennel where all the puppies are kept, and they were all in their own small cubby-like space. There were at least 30 puppies in there, and there weren't any signs that the dogs were mistreated, but just the sheer number of dogs being bred there made me feel uneasy, as it almost felt like a puppy mill. The owners were nice enough, as well. We ended up taking the puppy (whom we still adore), and he does seem pretty well socialized, but this kennel didn't feel the most humane, and I would caution against adopting their puppies given the way the operation is run. read more

We bought a Sheltie puppy in April this year. She had persistent diarrhea, we thought maybe it was the goat's milk they gave us so we stopped giving it to her. Took her to the vet on day9, she had coccidia. Treatable, luckily. They paid for the meds, but are refusing to pay for the vet visit. Buyer beware, you can find nicer, healthier puppies somewhere else. read more

I adopted my puppy from here. I was provided with a lot of information and full records of vaccinations and workings. She was clean, healthy and free of worms, fleas & ticks. She immediately used pee pads and has been very easy to train so far. Despite these breeders working with multiple breeds, I did feel the pups were well cared for. I will update if anything changes, but I feel good about getting my baby from here. read more
