Came here with some friends after eating at El Patio down the street, great Mexican food there by the way. After we ate, we decided to try the Martini room.it definitely has a cool bar and vibe. Tons of places to sit and sip. Our waiter was very attentive and came around just in time as I was finishing my drink each time, I tried about 4 Martinis which I know is a lot. I heard they have a special during the week too so definitely check them out. I tried a the strawberry shortcake/cheesecake which I did enjoy. The banana foster wasn't exactly what I expected a little artificial. The starburst and jolly rancher martinis were good. Overall a great place to stop by for drinks in downtown Elgin!

I don't know what I was expecting from a little martini bar in downtown Elgin, but I can tell you what I wasn't expecting, and that was a NYC-vibe. I was over-the-moon to discover this place after picking up hubby from the train station around the corner. We were greeted by some of the friendliest bartenders that made some fantastic martinis. I was thrilled to have a conversation with them before the evening rush came in, and I can't wait to visit them again next time we are in town. I am pretty sure the owner was sitting in the corner at the bar, but I didn't verify that, so I can't say for sure, but either way we met three super cool people. Will have to ask our friends to meet us here instead of the city next time we visit for sure!

Went on a weekend to watch a Halloween themed Drag Queen Show. I think it was $25 at the door & $20 online. They announced there's a performance once a month. There's no food menu & a very comprehensive Martini menu. It's surrounded by restaurants along this street so I'm sure you can bring your own in but call to make sure. The drag queens were very flexible, very nice & spent a lot of time on their make up & attire so make sure you have those dollar bills ready to hand it to them via hand. Not a risqué type event. I was not 100% prepared but luckily had sort of enough dollar bills/cash. It's good to do something different & not have to deal with driving to Chicago but still a long drive. There's a parking garage right across so convenience & plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Feels like a very safe part of Elgin even late at night.

Always amazing & the owner is a sweetheart. Drinks are always fun and delicious. The bartenders are lovely. Love the art & decor. So beautiful!

Great atmosphere, wonderful bar tenders, and kind people there! The Martinis were well crafted and very tasty. They had a good balance of alcohol and other flavors. If you want a BOLD flavor, there are multiple options! Subtle flavor is also present on the menu.

Staff- friendly Food- bring your own Appearance - shabby chic Service - lacked coordination Drinks - meh Bottom line up front. My first impression is that the Martini Room focuses on too many things (eclectic presentation, homey seating, entertainment) and not enough on quality, classic bartending. This bar quickly filled up on a Wednesday night (we were early, but a show was in the making after dinner) and appeared popular for groups of female friends gathering for drinks and carry-in food (allowed) around the dinner hour. The establishment hosts numerous varietal shows (drag, music, etc), and there are lots of seasonal, and colorfully sugar-enhanced concoctions of martini flights. Bar seating upon entry, with some high boys flanking the opposite wall. All of this flows into tracts of sectional, low profile seating with coffee table style serving on two levels. All the comfy couture aside, my gin martini arrived first, a weirdly solitary delivery, and was adulterated by too much vermouth or warm olive juice; whatever the reason (hot stemware?) the drink was tepid. The flights would all follow minutes later. I just drank up anyway because I needed to dart out. The carry-in food was ready down the street. I'm not a fan of sugary drinks anyway, so skipping the signature martini flights, I had hoped that a standard gin martini could be well prepared at a namesake bar. Additionally, my martini was served in a glass with an unusual, counter-balanced stem that curves to one side, which made the drink unwieldy and more challenging to hold than the ordinary funnel-cone on a stick. Even my waiter had problems transferring it to the table. Ian Fleming's James Bond certainly would add this prohibition to his maxim: "shaken, not stirred, and not poured into curvy or zig-zaggy stemware." Toward the end of our drinks and carry-in food bazaar (everyone seems to love this "bring your own food" feature), our party of four was interrupted by a stream of showmen with suitcases, theatrical lighting sets and flying extension cords--literally over our heads-- a troupe setting up for a show that evening. I had just flown in from Philly to meet family and friends, so this was my first visit to a bar in Elgin, but I'm sure there must be a better place to relax and enjoy a well crafted, classic martini.

Fantastic! Almost didn't go in but I am so happy I did! The great mixologists behind the bar were so welcoming. Music was pretty alright, and the vibe in the crowd was great. There wasn't a single moment that I didn't enjoy myself. Can't wait to go back! The Smoking Gun martini was my favorite, but everything tried was delicious!

Ladies Night Out! Attending the drag show here at the martini room!

Came here for the first time last night for the drag show event. Tickets were priced reasonably ...$21 plus tax! The martini menu is extensive! So many to pick from. I think we each got a different one. Staff was great and very friendly! The place was clean and vibrant. Lots of colors and cool decor. They have an open bar here so no need to worry if tinis aren't your thing ;) the restrooms were cleaned and stocked! No mask was required and did not have to show vaccine card. This was a safe space as well, open for all! I will be back again! If you see they are doing the drag show event, you should definitely check it out! We had a blast. Only downfall, no food at this joint however, you can BYOF! Next time I will do that! They even have a list of local spots who deliver there.

Good service and drinks, no food. Came on a Wednesday for their martini flight special $17. Parked in the free parking lot down the street.

The bartenders are fantastic, all of them. They are always quick to fill a drink or make conversation and have great recommendations. Get there early though, because it fills up quickly, even on weeknights. All the old fashioneds here are perfect, and that's my go-to here. If steak isn't your thing they have a tremendous Caesar salad here. It's quite large too, so I'd suggest splitting it with whoever you bring. The popover rolls are a must. Meaning, you must get them every time. The pasta I had once, it was good, but I love the risotto. The French onion soup looked phenomenal (I didn't get it) but 3 people next to me did, and all loved it. My favorite sandwich on the menu is the French Dip. The interior is beautiful and the dress code is what I would call business casual. Make a reservation or get to the bar early at the best place in town, The Greggory!

We ordered the Pop Over Rolls to start off our meal and they were some of the best rolls I've ever had. I really liked that they had a hint of cheese and the butter was also delightful. To eat, I ordered the Summer Corn Ravioli and it was one of my favorite pasta dishes I've probably ever had. I did get it without the mushrooms as I typically am not a fan of mushrooms but the ravioli was perfectly cooked and the flavors were simply divine. My party also ordered various meat dishes that they all raved about as well. We did order the brussel sprouts and asparagus to share - I enjoyed the asparagus but did not try the brussel sprouts given they had bacon in them. We didn't order dessert BUT did get a fantastic vanilla cake with raspberry sauce for dessert that our server brought given it was my mom's birthday dinner. The cake was SO delicious and I was very happy we got it! To top it off, our service was amazing throughout and it was an overall wonderful experience. Thank you, The Greggory team, for a great first experience! We cannot wait to be back!

What we ordered: * Steak Hash- my husband said this is his new favorite breakfast meal. This is a man who loves breakfast over any other meal. Order the steak hash, you will not be disappointed. * Piquant sausage crostata- I absolutely loved this dish. It was bursting with flavor in each bite. Definitely had a kick of spice, which I love. I think we have found our new Sunday brunch spot! Thank you Chef Patrick and Kathleen for giving us wonderful food and a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy our early Sundays.

Let me start by writing that this place deserves five stars and should be five stars, and I wanted…read moreso badly to give it five stars. But sadly there was a private event that spread the kitchen very thin and it took away from the overall experience. Food: 5.0/5.0 - Everything we ate was awesome. We did the Wood-Fired Artichoke, the Two Pigs in a Basket Crostata, the Steak Hash, and the Arugula Salad. Everything was cooked and flavored nicely but I wish the steak hash had more steak. (See my photos) Service: 4.5/5.0 - The server was kind and Joe was walking around checking in regularly, making sure we were protected from the rain. I dinged half a point because the server didn't have the best explanations for why everything was out. More on that later. Ambiance: 4.0/5.0 - I think on a normal evening on a date, this place would be 5.0/5.0. The decor is rustic/modern and it felt like a vacation spot that you'd visit on the Florida coast. Loved the brassware and the attention to detail in the presentation of food. It was a Sunday afternoon when we were there, so the band across the street was disruptive to the feel outside the restaurant in the garden and patio. By 3:00pm the flies and gnats were becoming annoying. So good scores in general and worthy of 5 stars, but alas, the kitchen was not prepared for the afternoon private party along with the crowd from the night before... apparently. They were "unable to make" or were out of several dishes. From what I can recall, there were no: pizza pies, whitefish, and chimichurri. They also ran out of all soda except a few bottles of Coca Cola. And there was no beer on tap because the keg was broken, so they only had Guinness and Stella bottles. Because of this, it stung to pay the prices we did for our items. I'd say a fair price point with all said and done is probably $3-$4 less on any item here. Crostatas were great, but maybe for $13. I'd pay $16 for the steak hash. I'm sure if we came back on a weeknight, this place would be amazing. Great people, great food, and everything in stock. If we came back, I'd love to upgrade this review to 5 stars. The problem is, the price may keep us from giving this place a second try.

See, Grumpy Goat consists of two indoor dining areas and an outdoor seating area within a slightly larger building also that has a locker room, golf shop, and meeting room. The food ranges from pub food, to sandwiches, to flatbreads, to great steaks. Both times, the bar area was louder and people tend to focus on drinks and appetizers there. There's a separate dining room beyond the bar area where full dinners seem more common. Given that my 2 trips were in November and December, don't have a good sense for the outside area.
