After getting a few quotes for a small project at my house, I decided to go with this company. After agreeing to a price and a start date, we got the job scheduled. I got the topsoil that was required delivered three days prior to the start date on Sept 20. When he did not show, I called and he said he would be there on the 22nd. When he did not show again, I called and he told me Monday due to rain forecasted. It did rain for about 20 minutes on Friday, but he would have been finished by then, if he started on time.
Anyway, Monday came and at 10 AM I called and asked him if he was coming. He said he was almost there. At noon he showed up. We walked the project over and he immediately asked for a check for half the amount. As that was what we agreed to in the beginning, I cut him a check and he got started. At about 2 PM I went out to check on the progress and he was gone.
His helper started to form up the new walkway and steps. After seeing his crooked and unlevel form placements, I had to show him that the way he had his forms laid was not going to work. I showed him what I wanted and he redid the form to be level and straighter.
The next day his helper showed and started to get the gravel put where the concrete was going to be poured. They has stacked a lot of the old concrete for the old walkway under the forms where the new steps were going. I asked him to remove the old stuff and get rid of it. He told me that that's what they do all the time. I said again to get the old stuff out as I was paying for new concrete not to cover the old stuff. He did remove it and hauled it off. The new concrete was poured and they did a good job on finishing the walkway and steps. After that they started spreading the new topsoil and smoothing out the yard as was part of the job. They also put drain pipe in from the downspouts to the driveway. He asked for the remainder of the money due and I cut them the check for the balance. At the end of the day I walked the project and the drain was not connected to the downspout. I pointed this out to the helper and he said that the adapter part was not correct and that he could not do that part.
I asked him to come back to complete that part. Mind you I paid for this to be done that day, but without the part I had no choice but to accept the delay.
After repeated phone calls and text messages the drain is still not connected and I do not have a completed project yet. It is not November 12th and I cannot get them to finish. I have contacted him several times and tried in good faith to resolve this issue. I am now turning on Yelp for help. Maybe if there are enough complaints about his work, he will not treat any other customers this way.
Truly sorry it has come to this point. I am at my wits end to get this completed.
