We came here to purchase meat for a family get-together this last Saturday and came away very…read morepleasantly satisfied with the quality of meats and the prices. As is typical of these meat markets, it was busy on Saturday with people lining up to purchase from the meat counter. 3 order takers were doing a good job of keeping things moving along fairly smoothly. We purchased entraña limpia (trimmed skirt steak) that has the silver skin (gristle) removed for $8.99 per pound. This is the more expensive cut than the entraña sin limpiar which is $6.99 per pound but you'll have to trim it at home. This can be quite a chore so be careful when ordering between the two. The packages range in size from 3-7 pounds. I bought a large 7lb package which was enough to serve about 10 people. The quality of the meat was excellent and very flavorful, equal if not better in quality than the choice cuts available in the higher end supermarkets and $2-$3 per pound cheaper. I grilled them up that afternoon and everyone raved about the flavor! We also purchased an excellent whole salmon filet for $5.99 per pound which we cooked Sunday evening. Although it was frozen and cryo-packed, It tasted fresh and was flaky and flavorful. At this price, the salmon was a bargain. Lastly, we also bought a 28 oz. pack of Don Quixote dry chorizo for $9.99 which is another bargain! So why only 4 stars? Well, it's because of the way this place us set up. You have put in your order at the counter where your given a numbered receipt for your order, you then go to another line where you go to the cashier and pay while another guy is pulling your items from their cold storage area. You never see your merchandise until you've paid for it. This kind of bugs me but I'll grin and bear it if I can enjoy these quality products at these bargain prices. Think of it like a Costco but without needing a membership, and with more meat variety when it comes to cuts and sizes. This is a great spot to go to if you're planning a larger party as they have a ton of sausages, things to picar, and meat and seafood to choose from. I picked up tuna steaks for $6.99 (8 oz portion) as well as a 11 lb bonelesss pork shoulder for under $30. I will definitely be back for their assortments of cheeses, arepas, and cured meats (hellooo jamón ibérico). I also noticed they have frozen empanadas and other bakery items that looked perfect for my freezer or party prep. The service is really friendly and I found it to be clean and easy to navigate. There's a parking lot as well as street parking. I'd suggest coming during the week, as I did hear on the weekends it gets crazy. This morning I went before 10 am and I was in and out in 15 min. The only downside is that some of the products are a bit overpriced. There are definitely other places around Miami where you can find certain Colombian items for less. That said, if you're in the area or you're craving something specific, it's a convenient stop with quality products. The one thing that keeps us coming back is their Colombian chorizo. It is absolutely outstanding and, in our opinion, one of the best we've had. They use a generous amount of cilantro, which gives it a unique flavor that really sets it apart from other chorizos. It's become a family favorite, and honestly, we'll make the drive just to stock up on it. If you haven't tried their chorizo yet, I highly recommend it. My biggest issue started with the cashier interaction. I was waiting to be helped and noticed other customers being served ahead of me. When I questioned the cashier about being skipped, I felt like my concern was dismissed instead of being handled respectfully. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I simply expected the same consideration as every other paying customer. I then spoke with the owner, and that interaction made the situation even worse. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, the owner went back and forth with me and defended the situation rather than acknowledging why I was upset. Since that incident, every time I go into the store, the cashier's attitude toward me has been noticeably different. She doesn't greet me or acknowledge me when I come in. When I receive my receipt, she snatches it, balls it up, and doesn't even ask if I want the receipt. These may seem like small things individually, but when they happen repeatedly after the previous situation, it makes me feel intentionally disrespected. I cannot say what anyone's intentions are, but the cashier interaction, the owner's response, and the way I have been treated since then have left me with the perception that race may have played a role in how I was treated. That is a serious concern, and I believe customers should be able to speak honestly about their experiences. I'm not asking anyone to take my word for it.
