After I saw an oculoplastic surgeon who performed several unsuccessful surgeries to treat my lagophthalmos, I decided to find someone who would approach my condition with a different strategy. I extensively researched oculoplastic surgeons practicing in the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area. My research led me to Dr. Zatezalo. From my first consultation with Dr. Zatezalo, I knew he was the surgeon for me. He is kind, smart, and compassionate along with experienced, talented, and creative in surgical procedures. He clearly explained to me that I needed full thickness skin grafts (FTSG) to functionally improve the operation of my eyelids. I had read about eyelid skin grafts from various Internet websites that described it as a last resort because of its complexity and routinely poor cosmetic outcome. Recovery may take up to a year or more before the grafts blend into the rest of your face and even then, they are usually a different texture and slightly off color. Dr. Z exerted no pressure on me to have the procedure. Deep down inside I knew I needed it. I had to do something as I could not go on living the way I was, and yet, I was afraid of what I would look like after a FTSG on my lower eyelids. I was using eyedrops nonstop during the day, and at night I would awaken every few hours in pain from the dryness and had to instill dry eye ointment. I wore sunglasses indoors because my eyes barely tolerated room lights or being out in the sunlight. I was miserable and my quality of life had gotten so poor, I did not want to leave my home. Dr. Zatezalo was very patient with me and again very honest. I had read many of his patient reviews of how he gave back his patients' lives through corrective surgery. I decided to move forward with full thickness skin grafts as Dr. Zatezalo recommended. In my case, it took approximately six months before the grafts started to blend in well with the surrounding skin and not be noticeable. My level of comfort improved immediately after the surgery as I now had more skin in my lower eyelids to help my eyes close completely. I no longer needed to use eyedrops and ointment like before. I was also able to tolerate artificial and natural light without sunglasses. I had the FTSG surgery in 2018. Today, people don't know I had it unless I point it out to them. The Zatezalo Group is located in a beautiful and modern office with easy parking access. Amelia and Kimmy, Dr. Zatezalo's staff, are super friendly, efficient, and helpful. I highly recommend Dr. Zatezalo to anyone who needs functional repair or desires cosmetic enhancement of their eyes. Thanks to him, the quality of my life has improved greatly. He really is a remarkable doctor and person.

Pre-surgery, he spent a significant amount of time answering all my concerns/questions, listening carefully to my expectations - which was a natural looking result. He was confident he could achieve my wishes and the outcome was just as I imagined. His office is easy to work with and very responsive. Post-op care was also top notch. Would not hesitate to recommend him to others.

However, immediately upon waking up from the surgery I had excruciating pain in my right leg and foot. I had an MRI and was told it was a hematoma and would go away in 6 weeks. THe hematoma went away but the pain did NOT. I got to the point where I was unable to walk or stand, period. I could not leave my house except to go to doctor's appointments. I could not walk ev en with a cane. I continued to go see DR Goldsmith and his PA Carl Durias, who basically minimized my pain and blew me off. He NEVER seemed curious about what might be going on. They kept offering me more and more medications which really didn't help with the pain and were very sedating. He said I had "complex pain syndrome", what the hell is that? He told me to go to a pain physician in town who is using a new nerve conductor called "the Scrambler" to the tune of $3500 (not paid for my insurance). I went 2X and when I got my CT scan results I stopped. My problems were way beyond "The Scrambler. In March 2025, I met with 2 Neurosurgeons and had a CT scan and another MRI at that time. From studying the CT scan and looking at the screws in my back were loose, there were 2 spinal fractures , severe stenosis with nerve compression .Both of the Neurosurgeons agreed upon the diagnoses and the procedure. I got operated again on 4/4/2025, with Dr Louis Chang, less than 6 months after my first surgery. Dr Chang had to perform a bigger surgery to revise MISTAKES Dr Goldsmith had made, and then some more. As soon as I woke up from my 2nd surgery, my 24/7 excruciating right leg pain was GONE!!!!. Goldsmith was negligent in his treatment of me. Why didn't HE order a CT scan when I was in so much pain for so long? Why. because he just didn't care. Maybe he didbn't want to see how he screwed up???? THis was and is the worst medical experience I have ever had. I hope my writing this will discourage you from having him operate on you or a loved one. Four. months out from my 2 surgery I am walking 2 miles, and have my life back. If I had not sought out some other consultations I would be where I was, 24/7 pain, not being able to walk and stuck in my house.

His imaging diagnosis convinced me of the importance to move forward with hip replacement surgery. Summit Orthopedics works closely with Sibley Hospital so I was able to schedule a Monday morning surgery and overnight stay at the hospital. The Nurse Navigator Supervisor at Sibley provided information on Pre-Op procedures and an appointment with Sarah, Summit's Nurse Practitioner, involved a review of the surgical procedures and the list of medications with a review of frequency. Dr. Siram brought together a great surgical team comprised of the Sibley Hospital Orthopedic doctors and nursing staff and an anaesthesiologist. The first nurse assigned to my post-Op care placed top priority on Pain Control and coordinated a meeting with In-House PT/OT Team to review and practice the Post-Operative exercises. I completed 2 weeks of In-Home physical therapy with Potomac Home Health Care, affiliated with Johns Hopkins and Sibley. The PT specialist was exceptional: checked vitals; reviewed my medications; provided a home exercise plan that helped me to begin walking with and without a cane, before starting In Office Post-Op PT. I would strongly recommend the Dr. Siram-Sibley Orthopedic Team.

They are unmistakably driven by profit over patient care, and are a perfect encapsulation of what's wrong with the American medical industry. I had 1 appointment with Dr. Keeling. He was late. He then rushed through our appointment as fast as humanly possible, spending maybe 6 or 7 minutes with me. He told me I had some medical-jargon-named condition in my knee, and that I should start PT in their PT office ASAP, ideally that day. He then tried to leave at the point in the appointment where a good doctor would then sit and talk me through the condition, what I should do, what I should expect, etc. But no, he didn't even tell me the used name (arthritis), and provided no helpful advice or guidance going forward. He just wanted me signed up for PT and he wanted the appointment OVER. So I got home and had to google all of the information that a good doctor would have provided, and, ya know, trust that what I'm finding on the internet is sound medical advice. That would have been enough for a 1-star review, but there's more scumbaggery. Within days of the appointment, I started receiving urgent emails from their office claiming I had an Overdue Balance with them. After getting 5 or 6 of these emails without having gotten a physical bill for them for anything, I called in (they don't have an email address). The woman who answered assured me that the physical bill had been sent out and I would see it in a few days at the most. Several MONTHS go by, and I receive nothing except more urgent emails. Today, the physical bill finally arrived 3 months after the appointment. The bill claims a SECOND co-payment is owed, and that I am 60 days past due. It's this kind of used-car-salesmen nonsense that keeps people, in general, hesitant to go to doctors at all. So my advice would be to stay far, far away from this profit center and Dr. Keeling.

My daughter is a dermatologist and recommended Dr. Hendi to me after extensively researching MOHS surgeons in my area of the country. Dr. Hendi's office is a good two-hour drive from my home, but it was well worth the effort to get there. His practice is located in a very nice suburb of Washington D.C., and there is a Marriott Courtyard just down the street from Dr. Hendi's office, (a very short walk away). I booked a room in the Marriott since my surgery was scheduled to begin early in the morning and I didn't want to fight rush-hour traffic. There is a Metro station (again, a short walking distance away), so we rode into the city for a nice dinner the evening before my procedure. The hotel was very accommodating about allowing a late check-out the next afternoon. Dr. Hendi's office and waiting area are very well-appointed and comfortable, but being able to walk back and lie down following the procedure while waiting for the staining process to be completed, (to ensure no additional tissue needed to be removed -- a lengthy process), was a real advantage. I cannot say enough about Dr. Hendi's skills. I had MOHS surgery on my cheek on August 21, 2019. The area that had to be removed was much larger than I imagined it would be and I fully expected some evidence of the surgery to remain forever given the amount of tissue that had to be removed. When planning the placement of sutures to close the wound, Dr. Hendi had me smile and make normal facial expressions while he planned and drew a pattern for his sutures on my cheek. Now, just a little over a month later the wound is fully closed, and even family members can't tell that anything happened unless I point out the area. I have started the massage procedure that Dr. Hendi included in his very comprehensive and easy to follow post-surgery instructions. His assistant assured me that after following the massage regimen, no one but Dr. Hendi, his staff and myself will ever know anything happened. I fully believe that, although with the way the wound has currently healed I am perfectly satisfied if this is as good as it gets! I hope that I have developed enough renewed respect for sunscreen that I never need MOHS surgery again, but if I do there is only one place I will be going for the procedure, regardless of where I live or how long a flight I have to make.... Dr. Hendi and his crew are that good!

I told her many times that I did not want to be bigger than I was. I have young children including a baby and work at a daycare and she had to advice about how to help prevent damage or injury with little ones. Luckily I had a nurse who was able to help with suggesting protective pillows, etc. As I mentioned I told her each time I had a baby. The whole time I was told no lifting more than 10 pounds for 6 weeks. I planned for 6 weeks to have help from family and friends. At my post-op at 6 weeks she said everything looked good. I said "Ok so I can lift my 25 lb baby now" She said no, you want to wait 3 more months to lift that much weight. I said "Thats something you should've told me before." She rudely replied "Would that have changed anything?" YESSSS I wouldnt have done this part of it! Luckily I have had 4 cousins who have gone through reconstruction (with different doctors) and each of their doctors said 4-6 weeks and then they could lift their children, babies, costco groceries, etc. No one ever said 3 months, she is just afraid of being sued. Not to mention, one of my breasts is dented a bit. Would NOT recommend.
