During my second visit, I thought that my other tooth had a cavity, yet Dr. Mullenaux examined the tooth and determined that it was just a stain that needed no filling. Additionally, both times I felt grateful for the fact that everyone in the office was very respectful about my choice to decline preventative care (as a general rule, I go to a doctor only when there is a problem, and good nutrition is the only type of preventative care that I ever employ). Being a healthcare professional myself, and working in healthcare, I know how hard it is to find a doctor who is skilled, honest, and respectful of patients' choices. They didn't listen to a single thing I had mentioned in regard to being nervous and continued to dote on a number that was created due to me being nervous for the coming procedure. I'd like to clarify a few key points, as the office staff's response contained several inaccuracies: 1. My husband did not request a narcotic pain medication. He asked for a stronger antibiotic due to the severity of his symptoms. He only inquired about pain relief if the doctor was unwilling to prescribe a more effective antibiotic. At no point did he seek a narcotic, or a "Strong Pain Medication". 2. The $1,200 invoice already factored in our dental insurance coverage. My husband presented his insurance card at the time of the visit and asked if his benefits had been verified. He was told it would take 30 days to receive that information -- a statement that is simply not accurate. To assume my husband was a "Cash Patient" was incredibly inaccurate and only shows the lack of professionalism with this office staff. After reading more Google reviews, I've come to realize that many patients have had similar experiences. I truly wish I had done more research before sending my husband to Affinity Dental. It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing to be treated with such a lack of empathy -- especially when you're in severe pain and depending on a healthcare professional for help. Earlier today, Dr. Harker contacted my husband via my cell my phone number. I responded politely and explained that there was nothing further to discuss. The infection has spread across the entire left side of his face, with significant swelling near his eye and a large lump at the site of the infected tooth. Thankfully, he has an appointment today with our previous family dentist. I reached out to our insurance agent, who was incredibly helpful in updating our dental coverage so we can continue care with a provider we trust. For that, I'm deeply grateful. I truly hope others are able to find compassionate, professional dental care -- because everyone deserves peace of mind when it comes to their health. I'm going on 73 years old and this was a scary thing to face. Dr. Lemieux made me comfortable throughout the procedure and reassured me to call if I needed anything or had any questions.I opted for local numbing, no anesthesia. Now 24 hours later I have minimal pain. I likely won't need Ibuprofen today. I took Ibubrofen twice yesterday. I was definitely in some pain once the numbing medicine wore off.

There were no complaints, no visible issues, and no discussion other than insisting they were necessary even though additional imaging was not medically necessary. If the dentist had genuine concerns, the appropriate course would have been to examine me first, then either explain the findings, ask permission, or consult my treating physician. Instead, they exposed me to unnecessary radiation against medical advice. My Wife's Appointment For her, she requested only the bitewings and full-mouth X-rays that our insurance covers. Instead, she was pressured into a panoramic X-ray because the dentist insisted it was "better," even though panos are not the standard tool for detecting cavities. Again, this was performed before any exam, along with an iTero scan, even though she specifically stated she was not interested in braces and have perfectly straight teeth. After completing the exam, I was unexpectedly asked to return 20 minutes later for my cleaning, something that felt inconsiderate of my time, especially given the office name, "It's Your Time Dental." Overall Concerns Both of our visits followed the same pattern: diagnostic imaging and scanning were performed first, without clinical justification, and without respecting our patient preferences or medical history. This approach felt more focused on billing for equipment and procedures than on patient-centered care. Dental care should prioritize safety, communication, and individualized treatment and not unnecessary radiation exposure, pressure tactics, or questionable billing practices. So much happened those two years that I had to keep putting it off (parent death, kid issues, and a bout with Valley Fever). The last dentist I had gone to in Chandler had told me I had multiple cavities and said I needed to have my three silver fillings replaced and they would likely need to be crowns. I had one crown done at the previous dentist and it didn't go great. So imagine my surprise when Dr. Pardazi told me my teeth were fine and we were going to just watch some stuff. He said no need to replace the silver fillings! It would probably cause more trouble than it was worth. And if they were working then no need to replace. I love his conservative approach. I'm so tired of dentists that just want to drill at the first sign of anything. For the first time in a long time I trust a dentist again.
