During my second visit, I thought that my other tooth had a cavity, yet Dr. Mullenaux examined the tooth and determined that it was just a stain that needed no filling. Additionally, both times I felt grateful for the fact that everyone in the office was very respectful about my choice to decline preventative care (as a general rule, I go to a doctor only when there is a problem, and good nutrition is the only type of preventative care that I ever employ). Being a healthcare professional myself, and working in healthcare, I know how hard it is to find a doctor who is skilled, honest, and respectful of patients' choices. So much happened those two years that I had to keep putting it off (parent death, kid issues, and a bout with Valley Fever). The last dentist I had gone to in Chandler had told me I had multiple cavities and said I needed to have my three silver fillings replaced and they would likely need to be crowns. I had one crown done at the previous dentist and it didn't go great. So imagine my surprise when Dr. Pardazi told me my teeth were fine and we were going to just watch some stuff. He said no need to replace the silver fillings! It would probably cause more trouble than it was worth. And if they were working then no need to replace. I love his conservative approach. I'm so tired of dentists that just want to drill at the first sign of anything. For the first time in a long time I trust a dentist again. I'd like to clarify a few key points, as the office staff's response contained several inaccuracies: 1. My husband did not request a narcotic pain medication. He asked for a stronger antibiotic due to the severity of his symptoms. He only inquired about pain relief if the doctor was unwilling to prescribe a more effective antibiotic. At no point did he seek a narcotic, or a "Strong Pain Medication". 2. The $1,200 invoice already factored in our dental insurance coverage. My husband presented his insurance card at the time of the visit and asked if his benefits had been verified. He was told it would take 30 days to receive that information -- a statement that is simply not accurate. To assume my husband was a "Cash Patient" was incredibly inaccurate and only shows the lack of professionalism with this office staff. After reading more Google reviews, I've come to realize that many patients have had similar experiences. I truly wish I had done more research before sending my husband to Affinity Dental. It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing to be treated with such a lack of empathy -- especially when you're in severe pain and depending on a healthcare professional for help. Earlier today, Dr. Harker contacted my husband via my cell my phone number. I responded politely and explained that there was nothing further to discuss. He seemed confused by how the situation escalated, but it's clear his sudden concern is a reaction to the review I posted -- not a sign of genuine care. His lack of empathy was already apparent during and after my husbands visit, when he dismissed my husband without offering any real support. A stronger antibiotic at that time could very well have prevented the infection from spreading and causing such intense pain. Unfortunately, my husband's condition has since worsened. The infection has spread across the entire left side of his face, with significant swelling near his eye and a large lump at the site of the infected tooth. Thankfully, he has an appointment today with our previous family dentist. I reached out to our insurance agent, who was incredibly helpful in updating our dental coverage so we can continue care with a provider we trust. For that, I'm deeply grateful. I truly hope others are able to find compassionate, professional dental care -- because everyone deserves peace of mind when it comes to their health. I strongly encourage anyone considering Affinity Dental in Queen Creek to read the reviews on Google and Yelp. There is a clear and concerning pattern of unprofessional behavior and a lack of accountability in how they treat their patients. Following the posting of our review about our experience with Affinity Dental and Dr. Harker, we received more than ten back-to-back phone calls from Dr. Harker -- despite clearly stating that we did not wish to engage further. Despite their pleasant demeanor, their dentists lack experience (QC location) - having obtained their licenses only two to three years ago which significantly impacts their competence. They recommended an unsuitable type of veneer for my teeth, despite knowing I grind my teeth at night, which led to the first set cracking. As a result, I had to pay again to replace them - they felt they did nothing wrong. I equate this experience to owning a car that is mainly driven in the snow. What kind of tires would you expect the tire shop recommend and install on your car? All season, snow, track, etc.? Qualified dentists should take into account your current situation, especially when you talk to them about it almost every visit. I didn't know there were different types of veneers, but they definitely did. However, the first Martin Dental dentist that did my veneers apparently wasn't trained on how to do the type I needed, so instead, they just gave me the standard veneers. I would have gladly paid more ONCE and had the proper veneers placed, than go through what I had to go through. It was absolutely horrible and at not be dramatic, but I have nightmares about the pain and 27 different visits I had to go through to get everything back to normal. And... guess what... the issues were never resolved, so I had to move on. I have since switched to a much more experienced and qualified dentist that actually cares about the end result instead of how much money they can steal from you. This new dentist fixed the mess that Martin Dental made and I would caution others to carefully consider their options before choosing this practice, as patients WILL bear the financial burden of ALL errors Martin Dental makes, which will be many.
