If this is the same Doc Martin from 1980s time-frame? If so, he is absolutely priceless. All personality. Remebered everyone's name and had a nickname for all. A fun story about Doc... Years after having my braces removed, I stopped by the office to say, "Thank you for straightening things out." During the brief conversation, I told him I lived in California. He immediately told me to hold on picked up the phone and dialed. "Hello, Sweetheart, this is Dad. Mark H. He lives near you in CA. I gave him your number. You two should meet." He winked at me while she protested. In the background, I could hear her TRYING to tell him, she did NOT know me, which she wouldn't have since I grew up 50 miles away from Watseka. Was going here through years and years of braces, retainer checkups, and a very sad farewell to the original Dr. Martin who was one of a kind! But well before Dr. Rose became the main, issues were becoming difficult to handle. On top of the hour drive here for the fair prices which were well under the price gouging of my Tippecanoe country options, the mismanagement and lack of smart scheduling pushed wait times to insane delays. It is beyond me how an established setup with centuries of experience among the staff is unable to ensure appointments are easy to make and kept on time. I even popped in one time without an appointment and forced my retainer checkup into their schedule because it had become so difficult to drive two hours and wait another half hour for a five minute visit. These guys desperately need a proper system to set times and days online and reduce waits. That leads to the main problem, my feedback is ignored. I've requested an entirely plastic based retainer over five years running. I pointed out each visit with everyone how I could not wear my retainer every night due to it cutting my gums and make me bleeding by the third morning. They did not care but happily tried their pliers on the wires every year then asked if it felt better. This is why these old fashioned medical setups are going down. It is crazy enough with insurance corruptiom and corporate trash taking advantage of us to top it with basic requests being ignored while wasting hours. read more

This place is the cheapest for obvious reasons. They CONSISTENTLY overbook and take much longer than necessary to get your child in-and-out. EVERY time we are at this place, our wait to be seen is WELL over an hour past our scheduled appointment. Plus, we drive 60 miles to/from this place. It's nothing but a hot mess. They have zero consideration for people's schedules. There is a FIFO method that is supposed to be in effect, yet they blatantly pick through the stack for jobs they prefer first. Very dated decor and overall layout... very antiquated book-keeping methods... most of the staff are severely lacking in customer service skills (except for Portia... she's the only one with softskills... she's lovely and helpful). The hassle and utter chaos of this place is not worth saving 2k! I mean that with every fiber of my being. Do yourself a favor and pick ANY other orthodontist! read more

About 17 years ago I began going to Dr. Martin & Dr. Rose. I was in the third grade. I was too young for braces at the time but I did get a space retainer and four years later they put braces on me. My oldest brother and his good friend also received braces there. We all had the ABSOLUTE BEST experience anyone could hope for when it comes to dental work. They even worked out plans with our family to make sure we could handle the financial aspects. They showed a great deal of respect to our family regardless of our family's less than appealing financial situation at the time. Mouth work is hardly something anyone looks forward to but Dr. Martin, Dr. Rose, and their staff actually ease the tension considerably with their vibrant personalities. Dr. Martin especially was the most jovial. His great success is NOT financially driven. You can tell he loves what he does and more importantly he loves working with people. I wont get into his personal life but I can say sometimes life itself attacks good people... his defense: Smile back with an army of happy customers... all with straight teeth. read more

Drs. Rose and Foreman have been doing the orthodontics for our family for years. We are always in for the appt time promptly and out 15-20 minutes later. Drs. and staff are efficient, professional, and very friendly. This practice does not price gouge to fix teeth--I call them our ethical orthodontists. The office is in a quiet neighborhood in a converted house, with an entire wall of windows, and a lovely view. We live 104 (yes, you read that right) miles away, and the drive is 100% worth it. read more

This orthodontist is always the least expensive one around. There is a reason for this. The wait time is long every single visit. The hygienists are rude and speak hatefully to the patients. There are never enough chairs in the waiting room. Kids are sitting back in the exam area on the floor. Dr. Rose and Dr. Martin ruined my child's teeth by leaving in a palate expander too long. Our dentist told us he had seen the same problem with many kids who went to this orthodontist office and recommended we find someone new. We immediately did and are so glad we got out of there. Drs. Martin & Rose has been a life saver for our family. With an insurance that does not cover orthodontics, we were not sure that we were going to be able to foot the cost for braces. Locally, we were given an estimate for our sons mouth that was shy of $8000. We have family that has taken the 2 hour travel to see Drs. Martin & Rose in the past and had nothing but good things to say, so we decided to make the trip. Even with the travel, it was HALF of what our area was charging. They work with your income, making a payment plan that works best for you. My son has raved about both doctors and their care. They are also able to fit you in when an emergency arises. We have never waited longer than 30 minutes total. There is ample seating for parents and patients. And while I agree that there are times the staff is more direct with your child, it is solely due to the fact that your child is not following the prescribed directions for oral care. If you don't brush your teeth regularly, they are going to call you out on it (or mail you a flyer!). If you don't wear your rubber bands, you will hear about it... as is with any other reputable office. We have 3 more children entering braces ages and we will MOST DEFINITELY make the 2 hour trip to be cared for by this amazing office. Absolutely worth the trip. Previously had good experiences years ago . Definitely not the same, dr Rose soent time explains and reassuring my child that he would find experienced surgeon . Evidently , had a new graduate pick her friend and surgeon had not spoken with him. Staff had new computer system did not know how to use and refused to even call the surgeon office for help when they tried to work with them . Staff member argued in waiting room with me . One of the long time staff members who is the office manager I think later told me my insurance was bad and they were tired of waiting for payments from the state of Illinois plan . A review below someone else had similar experience . Staff refused to even ask Dr Rose a question I had , this was after I had personally spoke with him on some previous issues. When the staff members feelings came out in several comments about our insurance plan , and the refusal to ask the Dr a question , but took it upon themselves to say no . We decided to go else and found a orthodontist who had experience with our case and went to a major hospital in Chicago to personally meet with the surgeon and collaborate . He did a nice acting job , because he did not follow through , did not even follow up with a phone call later after a complaint was made . He knew that this procedure would take communication between offices . It would have been better to just say not interested in the beginning . We had known him for years , after the insurance remarks and staff saying they didn't know how to do things electronically that was it. The experience we are having with the new orthodontist and their office has been wonderful . You would think if you cared about the pt and new the seriousness of the surgery you would at least call after an issue was brought to his attention . You will be treated according to your insurance plan. He need to educate staff on filtering what they say to patients . He lead us to believe he would personally be involved which turned out to be not true , never even thought about why we never came back . So far we have been pleased with the orthodontics care, but we've just started. The three stars are for the office staff. The woman at the desk argued with me that our insurance wouldn't pay because the state is broke. However, our insurance isn't affiliated in any way with the state. She said it's because the insurance payment address is in Illinois and no insurances in Illinois are paying. The insurance had just recently paid a tooth extraction claim within two weeks. She told me that was impossible. She then told me the insurance would pay $1450 toward orthodontics. I told her that was incorrect. Our plan only pays $1200. She argued with me that state plans pay $1450. I again had to explain we didn't have a state employee plan. I finally gave up and just said whatever. I am pretty well versed in our insurance plans. I've been in healthcare for almost 20 years. I know how to read a policy. I hope she isn't there at our next visit. I really think she needs to learn to listen instead of thinking she's right. read more
