Martial Arts World is much more than a martial arts school--it's a community. The instructors genuinely care about their students and help children develop confidence, discipline, respect, and leadership skills that carry over into everyday life. Kids grow both on and off the mat. For adults, it's an incredible place to challenge yourself, get in shape, build community, and learn practical self-defense that actually works. There's a reason Professor Lemuel Muhammad is an 11-time Grand Champion in Self-Defense with Regional, National and International Titles! The training is phenomenal - it's very effective, very professional, and very rewarding. If you're looking for a place that helps build stronger, more confident people (youth and adults) while teaching real self-defense, Martial Arts World is hard to beat. And on top of all of that - it doesn't feel like a gym or dojo you show up to, but like a family you belong to! read more

Martial Arts World is home to Jigokan Jiujitsu and we specialize in Self Defense. We offer classes for youth and adults. We accept members age 3 years and older. Our anti-bullying programs help develop confidence, strength and martial skill. Learn to competently defend yourself against armed, unarmed and multiple attackers. Although we have a team that competes nationally, Martial Arts World is not a competition school and we do not teach sport karate or sport Jujitsu.

History

Established in 2006.

Martial Arts World is the fulfillment of a dream to bring effective self defense training to everyone. Our school was founded by 2-time Black belt Hall of Fame Martial Artist Professor Lemuel Muhammad in 2006. Since opening our doors 20 years ago we've trained individuals, families, organizations, companies, security as well as law enforcement agencies. Our chief instructor has over 40 years of uninterrupted martial arts training.

Meet the Manager: Lemuel M.

Professor Lemuel began his journey in the martial arts at the age of 14. In 2006 he opened this self defense school. A space dedicated to the transformation of human life through the martial arts. Professor has competed in and outside the U.S. and was instrumental in the establishment of VSK Jiujitsu in the midwest. Now retired from competition and a 11-time black belt grand champion with 7 national and 3 international titles, he has written (2) books, Produced (15) Self Defense Training DVD's and was Black Belt Hall of Fame recipient in 2011and 2019. Today, Professor operates the only Jigokan Jiujitsu school in the United States and concentrates most of his time teaching youth and adults the traditional and core values of martial arts. Professor’s personal goal is to produce 1,000 Black belt students and 100 Jiujitsu Masters.

The Senseis will let anyone in the class that their listening skills are lacking. This way when I do watch I know why it will take my son longer to gain a stripe. I am happy with this teaching as a first time nervous mom. Also listening skills is very important. When my son is not listening. The Sensei is sure to let him know. This helps me help my son enforce his listening skills. We are both learning. I love it.

From our point of view this action was unacceptable. It showed that all they care is business. My daughter suffered so much that she came home crying and very sick.

With the firework bombs and loud people I was kind of shaking siting in open field because of all of the mass shootings happening here. But On the 4th of July there were plenty of police but that did not stop the teenagers from running in the crowds with M-80's bombs. They did catch the "cool" teens who kept doing this but it still scared the daylights out of the younger babies there. Fireworks: The firework show was exactly 20 minutes long and worth the wait and mosquito bites. The colors were big and vibrant! my brother couldn't take his eyes off of it. They were so close it looked like you could touch them. they were very beautiful! I recommend bringing your family, but keep them in eye reach.

My name is Malik, and I've been attending this school of martial arts for about a year now. After having experience in another art form, I have to say that this is a lot better. I'm learning a thousand times more than what I was learning in my old art form, and because of this, I'm becoming a lot better at self-defense. The teachers here are outstanding, and they make sure that you're on top of your techniques, and even help you out after class if you ask them! I finally found a place I can call home. Martial Arts world & Fitness Center is an excellent place for a Dojo, it clean, organized, and the staffs are professional. Shihan is one of the best teacher I have study under since I have been in Martial Arts. All of his Sensi's under him are great instructors. His whole staffs is hands on. Great classes teachers are awesome Especially Shihan Lemuel Muhammad when you look at him work you see his teacher Grandmaster Anthony Muhammad also when you see Shihan black belts Sensei Deon And Shodan Aqeel you see there teach in them.
