I was a member of this gym for about 6 months…read more The good- I did like the workouts. I'm not a runner and I liked that it motivated me to run. It's not like just run for 10 minutes..they have various programs and you can power walk or jog/run. The strength was on a screen and you would be at a small area and do your workouts with people very close to you. The bad- While some people think this is great, It came off to me as fake. They will remember your name but nothing else about you. It's almost like they have your picture in a back room and make the staff memorize it. That is the vibe I got. Every coach and front desk staff knew my name but couldn't remember that I'm a single mom on a very tight schedule and could only make it to the classes in the middle of the day. Which brings me to the reason I actually quit... I could only come on my lunch break and it was a struggle with traffic to get there on time. I had originally signed up as there was a 4pm class on Fridays and when my son started preschool in September I would be able to go to a class after work and then be able to pick him up by 5:30. So after racing out my door on my lunch break and racing home I was looking forward to this time slot. Once September rolled around and I could benefit from this time slot it was gone AND around that same time I showed up 6 minutes late to a class that was not full but told I couldn't go in because I was late BUT they could get me into a later class. My response was a sigh and I can't make it to a 5:30 class because I have to go pickup my 3 year old son from daycare. I had been going to the same class time for 5 months. A friend of mine who coaches at another OTF told me due to their insurance policy they can't let in anyone five minutes late or over. Icing on the cake the next week I was there and they let an extra person into the strength class so they worked in a corner when there already isn't much room. Normally, I wouldn't care but I was still bitter because apparently rules only matter to certain people. Also when I was there the a/c was out for about a week in summer - not their fault but it was pretty uncomfortable and I swear they didn't dust the fan above the corner treadmill ever. I would avoid that treadmill like the plague because I felt like dust was falling all over me. AND be weary of all the super positive reviews, one month I was there you got an extra entry in some contest if you wrote a review and showed them. Back to the good- the coaches were pleasant. I liked some personality's better than others but there was no individuality to the classes so no matter who taught it the class would be the same. I did REALLY like the heart rate monitors and felt them very motivating. Overall, if you are looking for a place to be able to get in and out and not think about your own programming and the schedule works for you, I'd recommend.

I completed the on-ramp classes with Coach Craig. I had done CrossFit back in Chicago in 2018, so I definitely needed a refresher. Coach Craig was amazing, he took his time explaining each movement step by step, provided accommodations when certain exercises didn't work for me, and used great analogies and perspectives that helped everything click. He has a great spirit and makes learning feel comfortable and encouraging. In October, I started running again by joining the run club, completing 3.41 miles at my own pace. I used to run years ago with a group of women running on the Lake Shore Drive and really enjoyed it, so it felt good to get back into that space. I currently attend the 5:00 a.m. class so I can stretch afterward and still have time to get home and get ready for work. I've also really enjoyed the 6:00 a.m. class with Coach Estefani. She always greets you with a smile, asks how you're doing or how your weekend was, reviews proper form, and gives helpful feedback. She consistently pushes you to go harder and lift heavier in the best way. Estefani encouraged me to join the run club, attend DEKA training classes, and even sign up for my first DEKA race. Even when I give her the side eye during certain workouts or tell myself I can't do a move, she always reminds me to try first or offers a modification. I also love hearing her fitness and race stories they inspire me and make me believe that maybe I can do those things too. The other coaches are great as well. Overall, this gym has an amazing community where people genuinely encourage and support one another.

Always something to keep you engaged. The last thing you will be here is board with classes. You can try a class at no charge. The gym has gloves you can use for the class, so no need to worry about buying gloves just to try out a class. There are several morning and evening classes available and classes also offered on the weekend. Ladies don't let the idea of boxing/kickboxing deter you. There are lots of women in here all shapes and sizes and holy smokes do they pack a punch! All off the coaches and front staff are amazing. Friendly and so very helpful! They said the 14 year old had to buy a package for kids which was $30 for 10 visits (no smaller packages just to try it out). When deciding on it when she was already with me in her workout clothes, we told the worker that she was going to sometimes come with her friend's family, so we would get it. Nothing was said about any rules against this. A month after that, I decided to cancel my membership because of several reasons (class times not convenient for a teacher. Rigid rules about teen memberships, etc). When I canceled, they called to tell me Tessa's membership would also be canceled since she has to come with me. I told them my understanding was that she just had to be with an adult. They would not budge and told me absolutely no refunds for any reason. This is very poor business. Also, their policies are so rigid...a 14-15 year old must work out with a parent. I don't know many teens that want to be glued to their parent's side when working out. Other gyms have much more flexibility. Other businesses would be more flexible with miscommunications. I'm glad we are ending our membership there.

My how Fitness Pointe has fallen in a few short years is a tragedy. The staff that once went out…read moreof their way to smile and welcome you by eagerly offering assistance are today far too busy sitting on their asses texting on their cell phones. They used to take your blood pressure by just noticing you sitting in a chair. Today, they're too lazy to get up off their asses! Don't blame Covid, that's any easy excuse and a cop out. No mouthwash in the locker room any longer! We didn't forget! Fitness Pointe did! Poor leadership that would rather blame someone for complaining about a problem person, in hopes one of them would cancel their membership so Mr Coward manager didn't have to take a stand. Missing leadership! Arrogant! Excellent at being pompous and arrogant! Then there's the therapy pool piranha and the school of disgruntled, mean followers that believe this is their own personal warm water swamp. The pool piranha feverishly splashes about from side to side hogging up three lanes is a message to everyone...I OWN THIS POOL! I COME FIRST! You must kiss the ass of the selfish pool piranha and follow it around, back and forth like a good little obedient fan. No respect for others! You can't enjoy the therapy pool alone because the pool piranha lacks attention and needs your constant validation. Then there's the employee with the strawberry blonde brush haircut that hates everyone including itself. Mean, belligerent and can easily grimace, flip you the finger or tell you to SHUT UP! Excuse me....Is one of it's tired, dated lines. When management lacks the balls to use their authority properly, you end up with sacred cow staff members, laziness and a few angered members calling the shots over the majority. Fitness Pointe isn't the best place to work out or enjoy your leisure. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! Not worth the aggravation!
