This is the perfect place to help your little one learn respect, winning and losing, listening skills, and working well with others. My two rambunctious boys have improved in their ability to follow directions as well as their understanding that they won't always win or be the best but to keep at it. I'm so glad I bit the bullet and gave it a try. If you're curious but not sure if you or your child will like it, they offer the opportunity to try a class for free without any commitment. So you don't have to sign up, or put down a credit card. They offer monthly payments or you can pay in a lump sum for six months and get a great discount. The classes are unlimited, so you can go as much or little as you desire. Grasshoppers have three 30 minute classes each week (because at that age they don't have the attention span for much more). Remember that this is for kids and adults of all ages and all body types. This places operates like a family and that really makes a difference in helping the students feel comfortable. They're awesome!

In the classes, we always start with a warm up. Then a discussion of the intent of the session. Usually there a a break to regroup on what the professor is observing, and discussion of points of emphasis. I also am impressed with all my training partners, especially higher belts i have worked with, having open discussions of what is working, effective and not. Of course the professors are always available for questions and clarification. On a personal note, I am very active 60 year old. I found my core strength is improving and other areas in need of strength and conditioning are exposed for me to work on. I try go get to classes 15-30 minutes early just to loosen up.

The owner Jason Laine is probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and will make you at home along with the staff and other students. The gym and its members may look a bit intimidating at first but do not let that scare you. The whole team is very hospitable and welcome newcomers of all sorts, athletic or not. The gym has everything you would need from a boxing ring, cage, Olympic weights and a large grappling area. I have been part of 3 gyms as a member in other cities and locally plus dropping in on countless others when I am travelling and I have to say Vision is my favorite. He found it. A terrific and caring staff . . . confidence and encouragement. Soon the staff as asking m why I didn't try it . . . I was an older parent, in my mid 50s, who had not worked out in years, was overweight and out of shape, and had a bad back and arthritis to boot. I thought they were crazy, but their gentle encouragement, and my desire to get healthier made me give it a try . . . And the change was incredible. I am 30 pounds lighter . . . my arthritis, which used to affect my knees terribly, is much less a problem . . . I feel better and more energized . . . Some of the instructors have trained in Okinawa, and have a deep respect for the culture and the art of Shuri-Ryu karate. At the same time, they are extremely approachable and down to earth. They're some of the kindest and most patient people I've met, and they care deeply about their students. They will meet you at whatever level you're at, whether you're young, old, fit, or out of shape (even if maybe you've never formally exercised your whole adult life...). They will push you to improve, but they are mindful of your limits. I've always felt challenged, but never singled out or left behind. I recommend them regardless of your age or experience level.
