We are only 3 lessons in, but so far, we are very happy with Master Fry's Taekwondo. Since it's winter, it's a great activity to get the boys energy out and gives us something to do to not go stir crazy at home. The classes are only 30 minutes, which is just right for them. And, they end in time for dinner. So, in terms of your family rhythm, it does not disrupt much at all. Then, there is the training itself. Master Fry is wonderful and has over 20 years experience. So, he knows how to train and get a bunch of crazy little kids in line. Besides the excellent exercise and physical skills they are learning, the boys are also surrounded in an environment of self-discipline, respect and honor. Fantastic! Nice to hear your boys have to say, "Yes Sir!" or "Yes Maam!" and then come home and have to make their beds to pass their white belt test! We had some friends who have used this place for their family, and it is a great group activity. Only 3 lessons in, but kids are asking if they can keep doing it already. This one is a winner.

We were excited to try it out! $25 gets you a new uniform, 5 weeks of classes and 15 minutes full of pressure to sign a $129/month contract at the end of the first class. Those of us with kiddos know that $129/monthly is a bit extreme when it comes to children's activities. Especially when you're put on the spot to sign in a totally unexpected way. I find this alone to be very tricky by the school. Premise is you can cancel anytime within the 5 weeks and they won't charge your card. I've had friends who cancelled but were charged regardless. I cancelled and have yet to have any communication back. Other friends cancelled and had to send three additional emails to confirm the cancellation notice. This is horrible business and makes me wonder why anyone would trust them? We ended up going to two classes before we found a new karate school on Beechmont Ave to attend, one we like much more for less than half of the cost.

She was so welcoming and attentive to all of them. One grandkid is 4 years old, a little to young for the program but Erin welcomed him and was still very attentive to him with him being so busy as a younger child would be :) He is still talking about going back, unbelievable! The class was 2 hours and very educational and more than I expected from it. The 2 hours never felt like it. Because Erin also educated you with protection methods, along with ways to be aware of things around you and information you should know at any given time. How to address unexpected situations of possible harm. How to escape and protect yourself. It was a WOW of a time. I feel like this was the best spent time and money over any entertainment. He is more confident and sure of himself in his day-to-day life and also in school. There is another Kung Fu school that is 5 minutes from my house. I choose to drive 30 minutes to the Academy of Kung Fu because the owner She Yi Ware is very knowledgeable and well respected. He has an outgoing personality and takes great interest and pride in all his students. His instructors are second to none. They are patient but firm. They get the best out of every student, even those who are a little stubborn. It is truly a family like atmosphere where everyone is listened to, helped in anyway within the school or outside of school to achieve their very best potential, and respected regardless of age, race, religion, or gender. The Academy of Kung Fu is naturally a martial arts school that helps individuals learn how to defend themselves when and if the situation arises. This is not their only focus. They are very interested in one's school grades and student achievement in that regard. They want to see each quarter report card so they know the student is succeeding in school. I feel that with both the interest in one's school and self-defense that an individual has the best tools to grow into a responsible, respectful and respected man or woman.
