Not to mention rude rowdy younger generation. I will continue to use Marta it is Smarter.

Please either get a gun lock case or don't leave your weapon in your vehicle. I normally carry mine but you can't do that at the Dome. Just be aware it's savage downtown right now. Like other taxis I've taken from Hartsfield home, the ride was good. We got home quickly and safely. I continue to enjoy the convenience and time savings of airport taxis over rideshare (Lyft, Uber) and think the extra cost (roughly $10-20) is worth it. The City of Atlanta has flat fares for taxis leaving the airport for certain in-town destinations. For this ride, Airport to Midtown (Zone 3) cost $38.00 for the first passenger plus $2.00 for each additional passenger. Then there was the $1.50 "Airport Passenger Surcharge per Vehicle Trip Fee." I think I was overcharged by Cascade because my subtotal before tip was $43.50. I think it should've been $41.50, hence my three stars instead of four. The receipt (digital) wasn't itemized which is common for taxis in my experience. Also, the receipt was from "Royal Cab Company," not Cascade. That's not uncommon in my experience either - to be charged by a different vendor than the company name shown on the outside of the cab. At the Atlanta airport's domestic terminal, taxis wait just outside of baggage claim, on the west end of the terminal. At the international terminal, taxis wait on the arrival level (lower level) outside door A1. If there's a line, it moves fast. It's a roll of the dice which cab company you end up with, but they're all about the same. I've now ridden with Buckhead Safety, Cascade, City Wide, National, and Omega and they've all been fine to me.

Once in each direction. On this particular trip the train was supposed to leave around 11:30 pm. I arrived around 10pm. I checked my bags with no problem. Amtrak allows you to check two bags under 50 pounds each for free. The baggage handler tagged my bags and put them on a belt with no problems. My ticker eas tagged handicap so I was directed to a seating area near the steps and elevator to wait for the train. The station is small but it is kept up well. The waiting room has ample seating for the amount of customers they have every day. The train arrived at 10:30. We were called to line up to go downstairs to the track. Handicap passengers used the elevator. The attendant took us 3 at a time to the train on a golf cart. The front of the train is closest to the station. It is a long walk down the platform to the cars. The conductor will ask you the name of your destination, give you an assigned seat and then direct you to the train car. The conductor was a little tart when customers were asking her questions. After boarding, I tried to get comfortable. Keep in mind there are already people on train. Some were sleeping due to the time being very late. After a few stops the train emptied due to passengers getting off in South Carolina. I was able to move to a seat by myself. Very nice. The ride is long but I still would take the train again.

Coming to the train station really brings back memories of my kids and I, just taking day trip to each train station and reading what history if any was posted on the walls inside. And getting off at certain stations to talk a walk around that area. Come to think of it, this is something I need to introduce to my grandson. The station hasn't change at all really. But I can say it is much much cleaner. The station is very will lit and I noticed several security officers, which was nice. I don't know if it was because of the football game, or if they're there all the time. Also the parking was plentiful. Also with security.

West End has a parking lot - probably the biggest parking lot too within the proximity of Downton Atlanta. I occasionally park at West End MARTA to attend sporting events. West End is also one of the stations my local bus stops at. So I'm more likely to frequent it for that reason as well. Especially if I have a North/Southbound journey to make. West End Station is local to West End Mall, Lee+White mixed use development, Wren's Nest (an underrated Atlanta landmark and staple), the Westside Beltline, and the Atlanta University Center to name a few. The station itself isn't the cleanest. I've witnessed people handle their business is various ways around the West End property. The smell is a dead give away as well. But that's neither here nor there. Generally speaking, safety is ok at West End. A few pan handlers and gray market salesman may approach but none of them usually mean any harm. Lighting in the parking lots could be better overall. The lighting is dim in the area further away from station. There is a farmer's market every now and then at the station. I've bought a few things. But I usually find myself on the way to work or not heading home so I don't typically buy stuff at the market. There's also a soccer field on the Southside of the station. It looks like an artificial grass surface that's roughly the size of a basketball court. Don't usually see people playing on it though. Last thing. The view looking north while on the boarding platform is nice. One of the best views of the football stadium and south part of Downtown Atlanta.

I went to a few stations and ended at Ashby Station. I've heard a lot of compliants about Marta but my experience was fast, not crowded and it was efficient. Ashby station isn't the cleanest station but everything worked and flowed. And yes the station isn't in the best area, but it's definitely patrolled heavily.

When we first got off the train, we didn't look at the signs and just exited to the street so we ended up walking a lot more the first day but once you realize all the demarcations, you'll be fine. We actually found an exit closer to our hotel, without having to walk up hill. SCORE!!! The station looks clean and feels pretty safe. I agree that it's a bit dark but I kind of think it adds to the charm a bit. I love the monitors that let you know when the next train is coming. The escalators are interesting to say the least. They do take forever but they are very long and better than having to walk up 4 flights of stairs, especially with baggage. And once we found the exit that didn't involve a hill, the escalator in that area was a bit shorter.

This is a pretty clean station; it has plenty of entrances/exits. , Tip: I highly recommend always making sure you get a regular Breeze Card as they have a life of 3 years (plastic) and can be reloaded over and over again, which can save you from having to always pay a fee $2 or having to always pay a $1 fee each time you pay for a paper ticket. Remember: Paper tickets are single-use, paper, and non-reloadable. Each time you get one, you pay $1 plus the cost of the fare. Plastic Breeze cards are reusable, reloadable, balance protection if registered. They can be used over and over again for 3 years, and only have a $2 fee once, until they expire after 3 years, and you need another one. As for Marta? At a cost of $2.50 per trip with up to four transfers allowed in a 3 hour window, it is a "breeze" to use in the city. This past weekend, when many gas stations were empty, car rentals were over $100 a day and a lift from the airport was up to $233, MARTA was an easy and affordable way to travel in Atlanta. If making a lot of trips, passes are $9 for the day or $14 and $16 for a two or three day passes. Check the schedule so that you know where to transfer, which exit to take and what is running. The Convention Center is huge, so be prepared for a long walk after leaving the terminal. The redline has limited hours on Sunday, so plan ahead.
