Visiting Atlanta? Don't want to drive?…read more MARTA is an easy way to visit the Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site. From the station to the park is an easy 10 minute walk. Although MARTA is not as extensive as other urban cities like Boston, NYC or Chicago, it is easy to use and very affordable. A one way breeze pass is just $2.50 per trip with four transfers allowed in a 3 hour window. A day pass costs $9 or a $14 or $16 for a 2 or 3 day pass. Double check the schedule as there are limited hours on some lines during the weekend. Definitely schedule a visit to the MLK NHS on a trip to Atlanta and don't miss the Fire House. As I passed through the gate the lady slipped through behind me and I said she should probably buy a ticket and she told me to mind my own damn business. I would have, if she didn't use me to skip paying for the train fare. I bet her plan was to follow someone else out at her stop because you need to use your ticket to enter and exit the stations. When we got on the train the lady was babbling to herself the entire time. I don't think she was all there in the head. At least this train didn't smell like pee. There was no ventilation so it was very stuffy despite the cooler temperatures of the early morning.

I have been in Atlanta for 3 years and up until a few days ago not once did I ever take the bus, train or street car. I honestly enjoyed the experience! Remember: Paper tickets are single-use, paper, and non-reloadable. Each time you get one, you pay $1 plus the cost of the fare. Plastic Breeze cards are reusable, reloadable, balance protection if registered. They can be used over and over again for 3 years, and only have a $2 fee once, until they expire after 3 years, and you need another one. As for Marta? It's $2.50 for one way ($5 roundtrip), but if you plan to take multiple trips over and over again, you can get an unlimited day for $9, $14 for 2 days, $16 for 3 days, etc. [Review 749] - 22nd Review of 2025

Another entrance/exit is at an office building, near an indoor, two-level shopping center. There isn't a dedicated parking lot for MARTA. MARTA train riders have to use stairs, elevator or escalators to go down one level to get to the loading area. MARTA bus riders stay at the street level to get to the bus loading area. Concrete benches against the walls are available for train riders to sit on while waiting for their trains. Whenever it's hot inside the station, MARTA employees place large fans in place and turn them on to move the the air. This doesn't really help unless you're standing right in front of the fan (this comes from personal experience). Large colorful artwork hangs on the walls.

T R A N S P O R T yes... Cute girls do take the bus! At least this girl who doesn't own a car. I currently live in Midtown and I pretty much walk everywhere I need to go but not everything is walking distance or it's just too cold. And on those days, I take public transportation. I grew up here and so I understand that Atlanta is not a huge public transportation city. I always had a car and drove, mainly because the public transportation doesn't go to enough places. I also feel that the stations are not monitored and guarded well enough, so I have time there is a worry of safety. On this particular day, I was just trying to go down the street to Ponce city market. It was about a six minute bus drive from the bus stop that I walked to. Unfortunately, there are literally no signs on the bus stop. All it says is MARTA in big capital letters. You don't see the bus number, you don't see the direction the bus is going. Nothing. (It isn't like this in Dallas!) So of course I got on the wrong bus and ended up being 30 minutes late to where I had to go. S E R V I C E The bus driver was really kind and we had a good laugh about me going the wrong way and overall he made me feel comfortable. A M B I E N C E Personally, within the last couple of years, I have gotten used to taking public transportation in different cities during different hours. Generally, I feel safe. I have never felt unsafe being on the MARTA in Atlanta. But I also don't take it that often. I do feel overall the MARTA could be more clean and the routes should be expanded. P R I C E This is my biggest gripe! You have to pay every time you change your mode of transportation. So when you go from train to bus, you have to pay again. If you go from bus to bus, you have to pay again. So if you have to take multiple modes of transportation you could end up paying Four times for a ticket just for one way. They should be time boxed. Tickets should be per a time limit with unlimited swipes. For example, and Dallas, tickets have a two or three hour time window or an all day ticket. In which you can ride as many trains in as many buses as you wish within the time window that you paid for. Often times, it doesn't just take one train or bus to get where you wanna go. Especially in Atlanta where the routes of MARTA are not well connected. They do have a monthly pass. They also have discounts for students, disabled persons and senior citizens. Stolen Vehicle - I have enjoyed riding MARTA for 19 years, so I am not writing a review regarding…read moreriding MARTA. My review is on the lack of information or the difficulty in finding information on the type of crimes committed on MARTA property like auto theft, type of cars, rapes, burglary, etc. All I have been able to find were the number of crimes, per stations, per fiscal year. No one at MARTA so far, has been able to tell me where I can find information by the TYPE of crime, so if any of my fellow yelpers can let us all know where we can locate this information it would sure be helpful. Because one of my vehicles was stolen, (the 1988 old beat up looking one, but with a great engine) from MARTA Indian Creek Train Station last month, along with the remote to my garage and information with my home address, I have been trying to locate the statistics of the type of crimes committed at MARTA Train Stations. I was aware that you park at your own risk, but honestly, it never crossed my mind that people were bold enough to steal vehicles right under the police noses. My other question and complaint is when a crime is committed, why is it not posted at the stations, like missing children are posted? I believe having this information would make us more vigilant and possibly assist the police in solving crimes, if we knew what we may have witnessed was a crime to report. I do not expect to recover my 1988 vehicle because the parts were probably sold to an underground salvage yard. (A type of business that doesn't require proof of ownership). However, I hope by posting this information it will be of help to someone and possibly lead to others posting crimes that we, the general public are not made aware of or cannot access. On a lighter note, I guess the person or persons that stole my car did not want to ride MARTA that day or thought that they would have a better chance getting away with stealing a car, than getting through the turnstiles without paying. Go figure!
