So you should go to the website (http://lasermonks.com) to read the whole story of this business…read morebecause I can't really do it justice here. In short, you know how Cistercian monasteries have since they began always supported themselves by selling things? Well, if you didn't know that, they have. Basically every Cistercian monastery in the world sells something. It might be beer, wine, chocolate, eggs, coffins, furniture, or flowers. Lasermonks isn't too different, except that instead of selling something they grow, they sell toner cartridges. That's right; you can support a Cistercian monastery by buying ink for your printer. In case you don't know, Cistercians are the ones who pray a lot. You've probably never seen a Cistercian unless you've been to a Cistercian monastery. Thomas Merton was a Cistercian (a Trappist, technically), but he was a rare Cistercian indeed. So back to the service. I've ordered replacement cartridges from so-called green distributors before. They had been cheaper than buying the real thing at Office Depot, but I was always skeptical of the whole recycled aspect, as what I usually got was a newly packaged, knockoff version of the original. I expected the same when I ordered from Lasermonks, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and found that the cartridges were, indeed, recycled cartridges. So in addition to saving money, you're actually preventing old cartridges from ending up in the landfill. In terms of sustainability, though, each cartridge came with an added piece of plastic that did not look recyclable. Boo. So why buy from Lasermonks? Well, you're saving money over buying brand-name toner cartridges from your local office-supply store. You're also making use of recycled cartridges. Oh, and you're supporting Cistercians. That's cool too. My favorite part of receiving the cartridges in the mail, though, was the nifty postage-paid bags included. I got to send off my old ink cartridges for free. I didn't have to take them anywhere. I just sealed them and dropped them in the mail. Fun.

I place a order with them and never received it. When I would call the operator, she would tell me…read morethat I would receive my product the next day, via priority mail. After a couple of calls and no product, I ask for a refund. i was told that I would receive my refund that night. 4 days late I call again to tell the operator that I still have not receive my refund, she got up-set with me, like I did something wrong. The operator then placed my refund in the system and sent me a confirmation email. Laser monk service is the worst.
