I can't say that about any of the Target's in Brooklyn. The best Upstate Target has to be the Fairmount location. Love its sparkly clean interior and I've never had trouble finding anything - I'm always popping in to stock up on essentials when I'm visiting upstate.* My dad always asks "isn't there a Target, like, 3 blocks from your apartment Brooklyn!?" well, yes Dad, there is... and while its probably the best in BK... nothing beats an upstate Target, particularly the Fairmount location. *Upstate Targets are always a couple dollars cheaper too.

OMG why did nobody tell me about the existence of Ollie's Bargain Outlet? We totally stumbled upon…read morethis place by accident as part of our road trip to upper NY State. So Ollie's sells overstocks, clearance, liquidation and almost expired items. Like things that didn't do well at retail stores (strange chip flavours, unusual products, etc.) or limited edition things that are no longer cool. I saw some pink lemonade flavoured ice cream syrup (the one that freezes into a hard shell once you pour it on the ice cream). The stuff is dirt cheap. I got boxes of granola bars for $0.99. Fibre One cereals were going for $1.99. Beef jerky for $3. Vegetable Chips for $1.99. Rice-a-roni in a bag for $0.69. Family-sized Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup with Double the Noodles(!) for $1.49. They have non-food items too, like stickers, school supplies, toiletries, pretty much stuff that you would find at bargain stores. We got 3 large bags of food for less than $20. Yes, it's all processed food that's probably not that good for you, but I'll be the first to admit that I love that kind of food. At least the vegetable chips were baked and not fried and Fibre One cereal...fibre is good for you! I love bargains, so I love this place. It's also fun to poke around and look at weird food items. I felt that the area that this store is in was a little sketchy, but it was kind of dark when we went and it's in the middle of an auto park. We didn't see anything suspect, it just felt kind of creepy. However, this would not deter me from going there again (in daylight). If you love Big Lots, you will love Ollie's.

Inez and Mary are great fun to talk clothes, TV, and current events with, all while you're trying on the clothes in their incredible store--pieces that are all works of art. While I was in the changing room, Inez was always checking the store for other things I might like. She was incredibly helpful. Even the cute dog popped into my dressing room once! I went with my dear friend Amanda who received the same exact wonderful and welcoming treatment--and she didn't buy anything. Only I did. Amanda used to work for Anthropologie and I've always been a clothes horse. We both feel that Ms Fit is not only the most unique and best store in Syracuse, but that it rivals the clothing stores we haunt in New York and Chicago, where she and I live. The only place I've seen clothes as beautiful, stylish, well-made and fashion forward as the ones in Ms Fit is Milan, Italy. I encourage anyone who wants to find stunning pieces to visit Ms Fit and to ignore the other negative reviews posted here. The first time I went, back in 2005, it was the best time shopping I'd ever had and I left with several items from the New Zealand designer Trelise Cooper--which I still have 13 years later. Not only did I have an equally grand time shopping at Ms Fit yesterday, but Inez remembered me from all those years ago. How much more welcome could a person be made to feel?
