my husband had an appointment for 5 extractions - made appt - sent info from our dentist and scheduled appointment - went sat for 2 hrs and then he sees him and says he needs to consult and was not pulling his teeth. That should have been made clear from his office staff no mention of consult. So we left $280 less money for nothing and never wil. go back He is rude and arrogant. #2 the following week my son had an appt to get tooth pulled - again 2 hr wait and he broke his root coming out and his tooth still hurts but we are afraid to go back he pulled so hard that my son's root canal on the bottom of his mouth required an endodontist $2,000 to fix. read more

I have PTSD, depression and anxiety. I went to Dr. Kurtz to have 2 teeth extracted. I requested nitrous oxide. I had a panic attack in the middle of the procedure. With snot coming out of my nose I couldn't breathe. Dr. Kurtz put his hand OVER MY MOUTH SO I COULD NOT BREATHE AT ALL AND TOLD ME TO "SHUT UP". This made me panic even more. Although Dr Kurtz extracted teeth from both my children with no issues, I had a more complicated situation and my experience with his practice was very negative. I am sharing in case others have had similar experience and to help future patients avoid my situation. I had two teeth extracted in Sept 2020 with the plan to get implants. Over the years I dealt with them, I found the office to be very disorganized. It was difficult to get timely appointments (I realize it was during pandemic, but during treatment over 2 years, that did not change). At every appointment (except the surgery itself) I had wait times of over an hour, at minimum. Even for what was supposed to be a "quick follow up". The office was inconsistent and unclear in their pre operative instructions with respect to prophylactic antibiotics . Thankfully, they did give a post-op pamphlet which I read and followed to a T. Before one surgery they asked me to sign a consent and waiver of liability for surgery...but they had listed the WRONG surgery (it was not what I was scheduled for and was confused with another patient) on the form. Overall, my outcome was not successful. Of course - there are always small odds of failure. However, my personal feeling was that the disorganization of the office contributed to the lack of success. Of course, to be fair, there is no way to prove this for sure. But, for example, for a second surgery after the first implants failed (and Dr. Kurtz did tell me he would not charge me for a second surgery), we agreed on a plan of action to place an implant. However, when I awoke from surgery, Dr. Dr. Kurtz told me he had decided that I would not be happy with outcome so he decided to perform another procedure, to rebuild my ridge, and not place an implant. I feel that if he had taken time to look at my mouth, and taken and additional X-rays (which he had not done), he would have better planned for the extensive surgery he ended up giving me. Whatever the reason, I got a very bad infection and lost all feeling in my upper left side of lip. Yet Dr Kurtz was slow to believe I had an infection and was hesitant to prescribe the right antibiotics. He finally did prescribe a cocktail of antibiotics after a few weeks of me being miserable. The infection started to clear up within 24 hours. When I told him I was upset that I lost all feeling in my upper left lip, and asked if it would ever return he replied, "Probably not. This is what we call making a big deal out of nothing". I will never forget that moment! I felt that he was dismissive of my concerns so I started to bring my husband to my appointments so Dr. Kurtz would take me seriously. (I am a professional who works consulting with top management of companies, so not exactly a shrinking violet). Dr. Kurtz told him "It is better when you come with her, she is less hysterical". Dr. Kurtz did have to operate again to remove the infected matter. When I asked what the plan going forward would be, he told me he would try the same surgery again (and again for no charge so I did appreciate that). I asked if there is anything we should change for a better outcome and he said no he would do it the same way. I left and never made another appointment. That was mid 2022. His office never called or followed up. I still have a very large deficiency and two missing teeth in my mouth (I have worked with my dentist to create and wear a temporary prosthetic for aesthetic purposes ever since). Dr. Kurtz, in New Milford and Danbury CT, is a cruel, cold, callous dental surgeon that I would not recommend to my worst enemy. I had multiple teeth extracted ,implants and bone grafts done during one surgery . Needless to say I was in a great deal of pain post surgery. Unbeknownst to me, he only prescribes tylenol, even though I was in excruciating pain. Fortunately I called my primary care Dr. and she was able to send stronger pain medicine to the pharmacy. She was shocked that he did not prescribe something stronger than tylenol. I only needed it for a day but I should not have had to suffer like I was post surgery. Unfortunately I had to go for a follow up appointment to check on my implants. There was a bone chip that was sticking out of my gum. When he touched it with the dental tool it hurt tremendously and I screamed. He told me not to scream and did it two more times. Both times I screamed in pain. He then proceeded to tell me to stop screaming as it will disturb and scare the patients in the other rooms, and I told me I would have to come back to get it treated ! Of course I will never go back to him. He had no concern for my pain and only cared about about what patients would think. I am older and have seen many dentists. ALL of them were always sensitive to any teeth pain and treated me with considerate care. As soon as I left his office I called my dentist office ( who is great) told them the story and said they should not refer anymore patients to Dr. Kurtz. They understood and were very sorry I had such a terrible experience and would suggest other surgeons in the future. Apparently I was not the first patient of his who made similar complaints. In short if you are in need of quality ,compassionate dental surgery I would run as fast as you can if Dr. Kurtz is recommended. Shevaun M read more

I recently had my wisdom teeth taken out at the New Milford office with Dr. Kurtz. The staff in the office was great and very helpful. I had an issue with my insurance company and they helped me sort it out. They were all very nice and you feel very comfortable. Dr. Kurtz is extremely personable, friendly and makes you feel comfortable. My surgery was quick and painless, even afterwards all I needed was Ibuprofen for any discomfort (which there really wasn't any). They even give a follow up call the next day to see how you're doing. All in all for getting teeth pulled it was a great experience and I would recommend Dr. Kurtz and his staff. read more
