They helped with setting up picture boards, putting together a memory slide show, replying fast to all email correspondence and after the funeral sending my mom home with thank you cards, and all keepsakes. My family member that passed away lives in Gurnee so that's where the funeral was. Even out of town planning was easy here. When my dad passed away we looked at other funeral homes as well but this one was the best price as well. They even helped with the transfer of estate checklist and death certificates and where to mail them.

Then…read morethey had the nerve to rush us as if they didnt just spend what seemed like forever trying to get the casket back in place after it tipped over on the faulty platform. Had our family not jumped into action to grab the casket it would have fell over completely. They blamed everyone but themselves for their incompetence. There was no apologies or compassion for what we all were experiencing. The only thing i heard was a loud mouth woman barking orders on how/where we should move the casket to allow them to fix the platform. And please spare me with the VERY rehearsed automated response. There is no way we would ever do business with you again!!

Now, I've stomped a lot of cemeteries in my day but there's just something...unusual...about this…read moreone. True that in it's day it was more like a park than a cemetery with its sprinkler system, well house, two seat outhouse and actual park donated by the Strang family. But the water dried up in 1940 and now the place has a sort of abandoned feel to it even though it's very much cared for. The well house and the outhouse make a creepy central feature, one unlike anything I've ever experienced in any cemetery before. Crumbling, rubble-strewn, abandoned, the well house is unbelievably scary in the fall when darkness falls early over the place. The Southern fence is caving in and I can't help but feel when I'm in there that the woods behind the cemetery want the two areas to merge. The graves date back to the 19th century and it's an excellent place to get a glimpse of Lake county history. It's just a few miles North of Gurnee and it's a place you simply have to visit when your up in Lake County.
