I guess I had been lucky with no dental issues well into my adult years. The luck had run out. He did the root canal, put a temp. crown on it and sent me on my way. A number hours later, the pain returned in full force. After arguing with his horrid receptionist for 15 minutes re: if I had a dental emergency or night. They told me to come in. He does his thing. Takes pics of my teeth and WHAM!!!!!! tells me he did the route canal on the wrong tooth!!!!! YES! He did the root canal on the WRONG tooth! He was anxious to get on with is Friday and leave for the day, since it was only a half day! He did a quick routine procedure to relieve the pain in the tooth that was causing severe pain by now. I got lucky by going to another dentist on Monday. That confirmed the damage that had been done by Larry Howell! The loser who screwed me over than proceeded to aggressively seek payment for doing a root canal on the wrong tooth! Sound fair???? Be warned!

I was told that I was scheduled for a limited visit that did not include x-ray or exam. After driving forty miles and canceling another appointment upon arriving I was told by the receptionist that I would only receive x-ray and a exam and no treatment for my issue. I had just had these procedures at my primary dentist within two weeks. Why couldnt someone call me to let me know what I was told was incorrect before I went through all this. I brought my daughter in for a cleaning - that went very well. The hygienist was friendly and made her comfortable. However, when she came back on a school day for dental work, Chancey himself was impatient and walked off after about 30 seconds of my (5 year old) daughter displaying nervousness. Absolute waste of our time and horrible disposition for a dentist. He shouldn't take patients that are small children if he can't deal with them. Still, I figured his inability to deal with children didn't make him a bad dentist for grown ups, right? Unlike the other reviewer, I didn't have any issues with the hygienists - but they may not even be the same people as before. Chancey also did some work in my mouth (a cavity in an upper canine) and I suffered from nerve damage afterward. Couldn't smile on one side of my face for weeks. Extreme pain after the procedure. He did not warn me about how he would be working through my gums so this damage was a huge surprise. Everything was a surprise and "take some tylenol" was the least helpful follow up response I have ever gotten on anything. After all of that, the work was never smooth - it wasn't buffed/polished properly but I was too scared to ever go back into that office to get it fixed. My mother STILL went to him and she has since found a new dentist, since his work on her turned out to be shoddy as well and did not stand the test of time. I begun taking my daughter to a pediatric dentist in Dothan and personally am still scared of dental work. ugh. I admit it has been a while but I still really wouldn't recommend this dentist.
