I cannot believe it's taken me this long to visit this amazing local bakery! I have heard rave…read morereviews of their sourdough & breads, and I can see why it has become such a staple of the locals in this area. Crust is located on the bottom floor of a condo building - a treat for the residents who get pass by for morning coffee & pastries I hope! Who doesn't like the smell of fresh baked bread & pastries? While there is very limited high top seating inside the bakery itself, there are plenty of tables inside the condo lobby just outside the bakery entrance. Service wasn't standout, but that's not a deal breaker in this case. I definitely recommend stopping by to pick up their baked goods. You could probably skip on the coffee - it was good, but not the star in my opinion. I treated myself to a blueberry custard tart & flaky pain au chocolat - both were incredibly delicious and I can't wait to come back to try more! Note that there is parking at the back of the building if you turn onto Yongehurst Rd.

I highly recommend the breads if you enjoy fresh baked loaves with a crusty crust as our family does. We will be back! Getting to the store. There is no parking at the front entrance to the store. I did not do my research prior to find out about available parking at the back of the condo. We pulled up into the side lane while i jumped out to pick up the breads. Next time i will check out the parking so we can make our purchase more leisurely.

I liked their croissant but I think if they heated it up before serving, that'd ascend it to the next level. It could also be crisper. I'd like more savoury flavours. The bakery itself is small and I've seen lots of people come in for their breads. It's a very cozy vibe and cute! A good spot to get a quick treat as you're enjoying the walk down main street.

There's another location in Scarborough on Midland Ave. south of Ellesmere. While I jumped in for some cookies and a cappuccino, I was browsing their freezer section which was teeming with my weakness - frozen lasagna! It came in large family size trays or smaller trays. Their Italian Hot Table is well known. Popular hot plate items are lasagna, chicken or veal cutlets, stuffed chicken breast, eggplant lasagna, pasta, meatballs, vegetable side dishes, arancini di riso (rice balls). The bakery has fresh breads and delicious pizza. For sweets they have cookies, cannoli, sfogliatelle, tiramisu and pastries, and for drinks they offer espresso, lattes, and cappuccinos. They're open daily from 8 am to 5 pm, and closed on Sundays. They do catering for parties and special events.

It's not because I'm a health buff or anything, far from it, it's just that the donuts at Timmy's are so bad and all the fancy donut places are all downtown. After driving past this place many times, one lazy Sunday afternoon I've decided to pay Donut Counter a visit. Interior wise it's got a classic look. It's got the feel of a neighbourhood gathering place for the elders and the members of community. I got to the counter and looked at the wide selection of donuts they offer. I was counting on the young gentleman at the cash to tell me which donuts were the most popular and he wasn't able to really pinpoint specific ones and really gave me a broad brush type of answer. I opted for a safe choice, chocolate glazed and a slightly more adventurous choice, a chocolate cruller (I've actually never heard of a chocolate cruller before), even though the look of it did not resemble a cruller. I counted my change handed them over to the gentleman and off I went. The chocolate glazed was quite enjoyable. It's a light bready style of donut and not the melt in your mouth type offered at Krispy Kreme. It's clear that the donut was deep fried with fresh oil and it was not overly sweet. After eating it , you will get the false impression that you did not eat something that was truly 'evil'. The chocolate cruller on the other hand was quite sweet. As with a lot of donut places you can hardly taste chocolate flavour (which I can live with at a non-fancy donut place). Colour wise it resembled Count Dracula cereal. After eating it I still didn't get why it's called a cruller since the texture resembled more or less apple fritters. The shape that it was made in may also present some issues with the donut. The shape of it resembled a flat volcano. In the very heart of the donut the texture either felt as if it was slightly under cooked or some of the ingredients were not totally mixed in evenly. It wasn't bad, but it certainly had some flaws. I'm not about to go as far to say that I should count my blessings or my lucky stars that I had dropped by this place. But you can count on me to come back to try other donut varieties if #1 I have a donut cravings, or #2 I'm in the area. So by the end of this review, who actually tried to count how many times I actually used a word that had count in it?
