Here for a work event with a pretty large crowd. Overall, a very positive experience. The space was very sufficient and full of character. Lots of beautiful details. Lunch was provided and included tasty wraps, potato salad, and whoopie pies. There were other hot and cold options available, but I didn't try them. I really liked the drink options and helped myself to some Tazo tea and a soda on the way out. There were even complimentary hard candies, notepads, and pens for all. The bathroom and water fountain was closely located. Also, digital signs were helpful to navigate. We did take the elevator up to the 10th floor to check out the ballroom which was truly impressive. The pictures don't do it justice. Everything seemed clean and organized. The only reason I take points away is that parking is a little tough and the ladies room ran out of toilet paper. read more

Spent a night here while visiting my nephew. Valet parking is the only option for $12, so be warned if you want to self park. I checked in on my mobile app and went to the line for elite/mobile app to pick up the key. I had to wait while the gentleman in front of me was sweet talking to the receptionist while getting a key and that dude just wouldn't shut-up. Finally got my keys and went up to my room; opened the door and as I was walking in, I heard voices in the room... so I had to stop and double check to ensure I had the correct room.... so I walked in slowly and it seems they left the TV on.... who does that? Is this part of the checking process where the TV automatically turns on when a guest checks-in? The room had single King Bed and with sofa. The TV was mounted to the wall and if you wanted to see the TV, you had to pull out the TV and turn it in angle... not the smartest design in my humble opinion. I had no other issues with the bed or the bathroom, but I wish they had a mini-fridge. I had to get bucket of ice to keep my medicines cool. The fitness center was nice, looks like they spent a lot of money in here, as the treadmills were connected to the internet, you can watch tv while running... they even had free weights, bikes, medicine balls, floor mats, etc. In the morning, I headed to their ground floor to eat... their buffet is $16 and the foods were your standard items - eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, fruits, oatmeal, cold cereals, yogurts, etc. You also get free coffee and egg cooked to order or muffin. Overall, nice hotel. If I come back and stay next time, I'll have to check out the residence inn around the corner, for sure there, you'll get a fridge :) The staff were nice and friendly and welcoming. read more

Fancyyyyyyy. I think this is the nicest hotels that I've been to. Granted, it's pretty pricey, but it definitely delivers if you want a luxurious stay. Staff: Very friendly and very helpful. If you have any needs, they are more than happy to accommodate. They helped me book a shuttle and watched my luggage even after I checked out. They also granted their guests a lot of freedom to wander around and provided exhibits at different parts of the hotel for entertainment. Rooms: Very luxurious bed and comfy! The bathroom is quite nice, and they have a generous amounts of bathroom accessories. There is a huge screen for Netflix/Hulu/Youtube. There was a good lighting in the room, and I was incredibly fascinated by the different gadgets on the door! I never saw a ventilation option to the door! Whattttt....? read more

Note: I am a platinum spg and Marriott member (I earned them separately). I have frequently stayed at the Sheraton Syracuse university, courtyard at armory square, and residence inn at armory square. Visit #1: I checked in the first week this hotel opened. Check in process was slow but staff was friendly. First room I checked into had no desk. I have never been to a full service Marriott without a desk. I called the front desk for a room change and it took 30 minutes for them to figure out which room had desks - perhaps they hadn't gotten all their furniture in yet? If so, this was not communicated. Club lounge was great, breakfast fantastic, gym has decent selection of equipment, and valet staff were superb. Visit #2: checked in around 8pm in November, the check in process was still quite slow. Given a double room even though my platinum account indicates king bed. The hotel was definitely not at capacity. I went back downstairs and was given a handicap accessible king sized room (bathroom is not so nice). The bed, was terribly made - wrinkly and fitted sheet not fully on the mattress (see pictures). I'm not a fussy guest. Give me a standard king sized bed, clean bathroom, and desk...and I'm happy. After seeing 4 different rooms, I'm surprised to see that each one has completely different layouts and furniture. I would feel ridiculous asking "Can I have a king sized bed, a desk, and a couch...preferably not handicap accessible?" each time I checked in. I have also never been acknowledged for being a platinum member. Overall, I would come back again in hopes that the staff has worked out these kinks. read more

I stayed here for a work conference. I ended up using the valet service. But if you'd like, you can try and find street parking or else one of the nearby garages. Upon entering the lobby I felt I was transported in time. The renovations are stunning with a modern twist. Check in was a breeze. Both the valet and the woman checking us in were very helpful in giving advice of where to go in terms of drinks/food. My co worker and I got a room with double beds. The room was very spacious. It had an accompanying desk and a couch. Note : The room doesn't have a refrigerator. The bathroom has a double sink and a spacious shower. The closet was huge complete with a little coffee maker/drawers/safe/and ice bucket. Everything was so clean and inviting. The bed was probably the comfiest bed I have slept in. I read previous reviews saying that the sheets and towels were too hard/rough but I disagree. I loved the bed so much that I'm tempted to contact them so I could get one! ( I am in the market..... hmmmm ). On the 11th floor they have a great fitness room complete with complimentary apples and head phones. There is even a water machine with spouts for carbonated and distilled water! So bring your water bottles. And the views are amazing!!!! How could you not be excited to work out with that view of Syracuse? I am so glad they brought a great piece of architecture back to life to Syracuse. The beauty of the hotel is amazing. You can see the hard work that was put into this establishment from the first steps in the lobby to the intricate detail wood work in the elevators, all the way to the rooms. I would definitely love to come back and stay here again. It was so clean, warm, and inviting. Probably my best hotel stay ever! I didn't have a chance to check out the restaurant but hopefully I'll be coming back soon! read more

I would give it less than one star if I could. We reserved 2 nights before moving our son into Syracuse U. Hotel was overbooked and no room when we arrived at around midnight - despite the fact that we had guarantee with a credit card and the hotel has a 2 day cancellation policy. Front desk staff were totally indifferent, essentially lied about trying to find somewhere else for us to stay, kept saying that it was "Marriott's fault" (um, I think you are Marriott!), and then they hid in the back office until we finally left and found a place on our own to stay. We ended up at the Best Western at the Fairgrounds, and the staff there put Marriott to shame!!! read more

We stayed over twice on two different dates. Bathrooms stalls and showers were still filthy. In both suites there was a problem with either the sliding door(knob) or shower knob. A lot of dust. Hotel is very large and is lacking the staffing power to accommodate any customers needs. We had in room dining with was surprisingly delightful and totally shocked us as we expected that it was going to be a flop. read more

I attended a wedding here. From a guest perspective, everything was beautiful. The building is just out of this world. I didn't get to see a guest room, though. One issue from a guest perspective is that when first dances, etc, occur, they are difficult to see unless you crowd over to the railing as the dance floor is lower than the dining area. The servers were competent and very friendly. The food was okay; I am surprised it wasn't a bit better, but nothing was bad. read more

Gorgeous restored hotel. We stayed here a single night during Memorial Weekend traveling from western NY. Briana went above and beyond locating a room with a fridge for my baby's milk and securing a pack-n-play with sheets. The cheapest flat rate parking for $10 at Syracuse garage is sketchy but our car was fine overnight. The surrounding area is scary, there are homeless and sketchy people lurking around do not go out by yourself outside of the hotel. We had to get some essentials at the closest grocery and the walk was terrifying. My partner got food poisoning from the pub downstairs. The room was beautiful and the Marriott staff were lovely. read more

What started out as a very minor detail, has now blossomed in to a full fledged complaint pointed at the lack of response, instead of the actual issue itself. Your email (which was the first and only communication received directly from the property, 5 days after the first issue) asked "when is the best time to reach you out". That lack of professionalism is exactly my point. Thanks for making it for me. I grew up in Syracuse, lived there for 40 years, and spent many many nights at the hotel, attended many weddings, as well as actually work in the Hotel Syracuse kitchen in 1981. I can honestly say That I will never stay at this property again, as well as informing several friends and family that live in the Syracuse area about the details of my experience. I have an upcoming at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain for a golf outing for 4 of us. I will be canceling that trip today and rebooking at a Non Marriott affiliated resort. read more

Beware!! They don't hold nonrefundable paid in full reservations!! Got 2 rooms 5 mos. before graduation and 3 weeks before they say they overbooked and are sorry!!?? Not sure I'd trust them to do much of anything if they can't coordinate and respect reservations. Marriott for that matter doesn't feel responsible! I'm a Marriott employee in California. Stayed at this location kind of by accident when I was traveling in NY. Long story short, my boyfriend and I ended uo staying here for a night so I could take advantage of their shuttle to the airport. We arrived one night during my first blizzard, so I was super happy to see the place was GORGEOUS! The lobby was all decked out with Christmas decor, an adorable train set, and the room itself was AWESOME! Best Marriott I've ever stayed at. If you are thinking about staying here, DO IT!!! This is a beautiful renovated hotel with friendly workers. Unfortunately, it appears that the bathroom shower had not been cleaned before we arrived. (There was a large clump of hair on the floor.) I called Guest Services and was assured that the shower would be thoroughly cleaned. When we returned in the evening, that same awful clump of hair was still there! We could also tell that no one had wiped down the sink. No one ever followed up to see if we were satisfied. When we checked out, the front desk clerk never asked us how our stay was. She asked about our convention, but not about our room. We had a breakfast buffet on our last day at the onsite 11 Waters restaurant. No one ever attended to us once we were seated. We sat around for a LONG time waiting for our buffet check. They were short staffed, but we were completely ignored. I advise against staying at this hotel. read more

It's a beautiful historic hotel (used to be Hotel Syracuse). Persian Terrace and Grand Ballroom are arguably best places to have a wedding in the area given the beautiful architecture. It has been restored recently and it's beautiful - although it was in some ways more beautiful prior in terms of some of the way the lights could reflect on the white walls and columns, the hotel itself is nice. This was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. There is no on site parking even though on the website it says there is. So, you have to pay for Valet at 20/day otherwise you have to park several streets over and pay 16/day. None of the features work on the app. The app is filled with the wrong times for room service. The management team is rude and unresponsive. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else unless you want to be disappointed and frustrated by the incompetence. read more

We came in at 12:30 am, and they gave us a room that the heat wasn't working. It was 63 degrees. I called and of course they said they hadn't used the room since Covid. They advised to turn the electrical panel off for 5 minutes and turn it back on. To get more blankets we had to go downstairs ourselves. We were too tired to change rooms. It only warmed up to 64. The bedding smelled like Indian food. I don't think they were even washed. Disgusting. I asked for another towel in the morning, and it never came. The thing that bothered me the most was that it was this feeling of whatever, I don't really care, but then again that's basically how it is everywhere. read more

We have stayed here ever year we visit family. It was another successful stay and being with my Marriott family. Check in was quick and easy. They didn't have our usual room open but we moved to that room in a couple of days later. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. As platinums you get take part in the M club. In the morning you get free breakfast. The best part for me was their latte machine which I utilized daily. Sunday-Thursday they offer appetizers in the M club and adult beverages for purchase. They offer free water bottles 24/7 in the MClub. You don't have to be a platinum to get the Mclub you can just buy it as part of your room purchase. I love that they have two restaurants open now which I will review separately. It is very convenient to just eat in the hotel. We will be back next year . read more

We have our Christmas party for work here every year, and they do a beautiful job, but as for the rooms Last year we didn't have heat in our hotel and they told us they couldn't do anything about it, and then our room this year was dirty. There was hair all over the shower, and I know it wasn't mine since I have purple hair. The toilet had poop on it, and I found some metal ring thing in my towels. When I told them about it they said they would give me extra reward points. Wow. This is a beautiful hotel with big, plush rooms. The lobby is a restoration from its past grandure. With a $70m renovation, this is where you want to stay. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The dining area is bright and cheery. As we were there on the first day of operation, some areas are still being worked on, but thus did not take away from our experience. The area where the hotel sits is a bit nondescript, but that is the only detractor. read more

The hotel is not ready for prime time. I am a syracuse native who has moved away and was excited about seeing the refurbishment....it's awesome, the hotel looks beautiful, .although not completed. We had many problems mostly due to the fact that the communication between departments does not exist. Our room was still not attended to at 7pm. A group we were traveling with had major problems with the valet service losing their keys. They had to get a rental car to go home!!!!! There is no refrigerator in the room and no local establishments to get sundries. The in room coffee make has paper cups. At the price of a room...mugs are in order. It's a beautiful hotel and I think once they get the kinks out, it will be the hotel we all loved growing up. BUT, it's just not ready. The bars and restaurants are not open, the sevice is spotty and the communication is just plain confusing. Wait and let's hope they get their act together. read more

Our niece had her wedding and reception here and I have to say it was the best one I have ever been to. It was held in the Persian Terrace. They have done a great job restoring the hotel. I got to go into one of the rooms which was very nice and spacious . After the wedding we went into a room next to the reception Deck and was served the most delicious food, I was wondering how the dinner could beat that but it did. Dinner was delicious and all the servers very friendly and eager to help. read more

When I first moved here I stayed here for a couple nights to.get to know the city a little. The hotel looks like something out of the great Gatsby and my room was comfortable but nothing super fancy. They did have Netflix and good water pressure though. Didn't have a view but wasnt really in the room the whole time. Front desk staff was very friendly. This was by far the worst hotel I have ever encountered. To start the location is very questionable and feels extremely unsafe. Even as a hotel guest staying for multiple nights they charge an absurd amount for parking per day. Front desk staff were extremely rude with 0 hospitality skills. I am shocked that these individuals were given the responsibility to greet and manage guest reservations. The standards at this hotel are significantly low compared to other Marriott's. Upon arrival the staff were nothing but rude and refused to accommodate us as we had our elderly mother who needed a refrigerator for her ensure shakes. The staff didn't even pretend to want to help us. They simply said we have multiple events here and no refrigerators. Sorry. When we asked for some sort of compensation they refused. Our room was subpar. Cleanliness is very questionable. The bathroom needed better cleaning as the grout was old and dirty. Although the hotel is historic it certainly does not make up for the lack of hospitality. Save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere. read more

What a real nice experience. The bar food was really good in Shaugnassy's. The rooms were spectacular and beds were comfortable. The Exercise room was awesome with views of downtown. Hospitality in the M lounge by the young lady made me feel so welcome. She's an asset to Marriott. I didn't venture outside due to really cold weather but didn't need to because it's a full scale hotel. I'll be back for sure. read more

I have spent 31 nights at the Marriott Syracuse since 08/15/19 so I have enough experience to give a fair assessment of the hotel. The rooms are fine of adequate size and clean. Not a huge fan of the sliding bathroom door but that is an architectural choice. Valet and concierge staff are terrific. Housekeeping was hit and miss, one evening I came back to my room and the tip was gone but there were no towels or toiletries. My biggest issue was with the front desk and security. On my last stay I left my laptop in its bag in my room. I didn't notice this until I got back to Connecticut. I called immediately and security reported that they had it. I was told if I filled out a credit card authorization form they could have it shipped back to me which I did. The following day I called to find out the status and was told the person who handles this hadn't come in yet. I called again at the end of the day and was told "the person " didn't come in but should be back Monday. I told security that wouldn't work for me and if necessary I would make the 265 mile drive to get it. Security said they would leave a note on my bag that I would be picking it up. When I did get to the hotel Sunday morning there on my laptop bag was the credit authorization form with all my information on it for anyone to see who went into the office. Each time I called I started with the front desk. Not once did anyone take the initiative to help me with this issue. Very disappointing. read more

absolutely a great place to eat and dine the staff is amazing corporate not so much I was working there once through a temp agency and I did so well they asked if I wanted to interview for a job I was working there for a year and a half through the temnp agency I was honest with them about my background and they not only denied my application but the took my job through the temp agency. It is very backwards there I would have to say for being honest and showing true integrity they punished a good hard working man trying to change his life around not happy with marriot down town Syracuse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
