Cracked door

The hotel is seriously dated and rundown with slipshod repairs, uncleanliness in some areas, doors and WIFI not working along with a front desk that was sometimes understaffed so if you called them, they would not answer the phone or would hang up right away. The two positives were the banquet staff along with the banquets they provided and the shuttle. The banquet staff was a symphony of precision and the shuttle was nice and smooth. The first room I was given was 247 which I can only describe at probably the worst hotel room I have ever been in: Dirty carpet, poor repair and paint jobs that still showed the work afterwards, shower curtain half hanging on. I tried to reattach it but it fell again. The shower spray nozzle on a cord was wrapped around the grip bar and could not be unwrapped--for some reason. I have no idea. You had to be a midget to use the it. The closet was very low too for hanging clothes and storing items. Drawers missing screws and off track. I wonder if the room was an accessible room because I did not need it. I tried to leave the room but was locked in. I had to call for help. Maintenance man seemed to blame me for the door not working and getting locked in room. He basically said I did not slam it hard enough when I closed it. It happened twice. Luckily, I was switched to room 445 but it an inconvenience after I had already unpacked. The new room was quite a bit better--cleaner, some chipping on door and paint along with substandard repair jobs. The only real negatives for this room, there was a stain on the sofa bed and the room was quite crowded and the layout of furniture did not make much sense. WIFI, locks to pool sometimes worked, both pools were dirty on the bottom, corners, and tiles. The first two mornings we had a nice breakfast with a coupon in a big dining room with big round tables. The last day since our group was smaller, we were in the across the hall smaller dining room which had booths and tables. A sign said seat yourself which I did. No one came and greeted me almost the whole time I was there until I was almost done eating, and then I was asked if I needed something. I had sat myself in a booth, and the lady who appeared that she was a head server did not like that I sat in a booth as a solo diner. No one guided me at my entrance. She made another older man with a cane move to a regular table. She waved her hand at me one time like I should be ignored which appears I did not follow her unwritten rules for the dining room. The buffet staff and their food were great. They served many of with some good food in a timely manner. Very smooth operation. Shuttle ran smooth too. This hotel does not match the Marriott name and the worst one I have ever stayed at.

Marriott Albany has super nice employees, they are definitely the highlight of this hotel. The hotel itself is need of a facelift, from its outdated hallway carpets to its outdated rooms, the hotel itself feels super dated. But when I'm here it's for work, not for fun, so I don't mind too much since it's clean and close enough to the airport.

This place was probably state of the art when it was new but that was years ago. There have been some renovations but watch your step as you walk from the carpet to the tiles door way as the new tile was laid on top of the old. The windows may have opened at some point but now they are inoperable and the dust coming from the air vent is disgusting...filled with hair and feathers and lint. The key card lock is about 10% less effective than a NYC Metro Card. The door latch is janky and loud and you will hear your neighbors struggle with their doors as if they were coming in your own room. This is a $60 hotel at best but they charge double that.

Attended for a conference recently. Hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and it looks like this decision is timely. Staff was amazing, friendly and professional. They were incredibly organized and some of the hardest working staff I've seen in hospitality. They truly set a high standard. I have to knock off stars for the renovation situation. However will update accordingly on the next visit.

The pits. One star because a) you have to n b) I love mobile check in/out/key. Old hotel. Dingy rooms. Stayed 2 nites, No housekeeping provided. Awkward parking situation. Poor lighting in the room. No light by the mirror. No ventilation in bathroom. The remote doesn't work for the tv. Can hear everything going on in the hall. Lobby is lovely, that's about it. Book any other hotel in Albany, you'll be much happier. I wish I did.

This morning, I went to the Albany Marriott for work. I attended an information session in one of the conference rooms at the hotel (Salon AB). The venue was ideal for a meeting like this. There were 140 people in the room but it didn't feel cramped. A continental breakfast was provided and it was very good. You know, sometimes these things are pretty sad in terms of eats, but the food was good. The Marriott staff were friendly and really good about directing attendees to the meeting location. As soon as I walked through the hotel main entrance, a gentleman approached me and helped me out. The tech configuration was well done, the AV set up was good and looked professional (no tangled wires or potential tripping situations). The best thing was the free parking at the deck, which is a short walk to the hotel. I found a good spot and got to the meeting in no time. The hotel is also close to the airport and easy to get to by car. From the perspective of a visitor going here for meeting, the Albany Marriott is a very good venue to hold a business meeting or conference.

Stay away from this hotel! The staff is terrible, our room was dirty and the hotel is as good as a Motel 6.

It's literally so close to the airport (for perfect transportation) but it's not too loud. We were never disturbed. The kids thought it was really cool to see the big planes. The lobby was stunning. I loved seeing the live plants. This hotel felt more of like an experience. We loved the pond in the courtyard with the koi fish. Cons: Our room didn't have a microwave. The sheets were crisp and clean but reminded us of wax paper. They made a ton of noise with every twist and turn. The pool had a lot of algae so we didn't swim. So that's a bummer. Breakfast wasn't included only if you wanted to pay more.

I was blown away by the new lobby area and it's modern and inviting setup. The layout of the hotel can be like a very big maze since there is enough space to host multiple events or one very large one. My overnight room was in the mansion section which I appreciated being so close to the front desk. The room was well setup and the bed was probably one of the most comfortable I've slept on recently in a hotel. The one item that did hit a snag was the ice machines didn't seem to be working the first night. We tried several. From a conference planner side/. I found the staff to be very easy to work with and any changes were quickly accommodated. The food was good and they were very careful with the meals for our celiac/gluten free folks. I hope to be hosting other events here in the very near future.

I've used similar extended stay hotels in the past & always had a good to great experience. Same with the Staybridge. Overall, it was a very good experience. The front desk staff were nice enough, for the most part, up until our last eve & check out morning, did we encounter a new front desk gal who was extremely upbeat & helpful. We asked for a picture together as the waitress at the Ruths' Chris steakhouse pretty much gave us the brush off when we asked if she could snap a photo before we left. The gal gladly obliged & seemed excited to learn that we were newly discovered siblings who found each other a few years ago & this was our first time away together to do some bonding... Here's the rundown of some of my thumbs up/thumbs down/meh... *I was told there would be coffee waiting if either party arrived before check-in. Unfortunately my sibling said the coffee wasn't hot & it was apparent that it was sitting out for awhile. That's a thumbs down! *About the bathroom in the suite - Floor seemed kind of sticky, I found some dust build up on the TP holder & the tub floor had no kind of slip prevention. It almost appeared there was a long time ago & maybe it wore off or was removed? There are marks on the tub floor but that was all. I recently had a knee injury & I was trying to step very carefully while holding onto the 2 small shower racks on the wall which you can place your soap on or whatever. I felt this was an accident waiting to happen & should be taken care of asap before someone takes a slip in that tub. And also, they could do better with their TP. I drove to the hotel & brought some softer varieties from home. But seriously, c'mon! Extended stays should splurge a bit for something like that imo. *We had the breakfast on Sat & Sun morning. Meh... The coffee was ok the first morn (Sat) but not so great on Sun or Mon morn. There's a decent variety of stuff but nothing to write home about. It's definitely a money & time saver to have the option for the complimentary breakfast though so it mostly should hit the spot. It worked for us. *The room overall was nice & cozy. There was a coffeemaker in the room (didn't use it) but I was disappointed there was no Keurig. I guess because they provide coffee but a lot of people like their Keurig's these days & can easily bring their favorite coffee along which I did. Oh well... *The bed was pretty damn comfortable. The room was quiet for the most part but then I was woken up several times during the nite to some weird noises that seemed to be coming from the hall. I have no clue & could not say what was going on. Could have been just a neighboring guest coming in or out because the doors close super hard with a big loud bang (EEK)! *Upon check out we had to do a split bill which I was hoping would not cause any confusion but we had the help of the nice gal from the nite before & a super nice manager who jumped in to make the check out an easy one & didn't mind taking the extra steps to help. Big thumbs up! *Parking was no issue, there's a big lot there. I know it seems I'm focusing a lot on the 'thumbs down' most of all but I write this to point out some stuff in hopes that management will see it & take stuff into consideration & also so people know in advance what to possibly expect. There's always room for improvement but with all that I would definitely consider using a Staybridge again if needed. This hotel was better than a lot of places I've stayed in the past so that says a lot... Overall, a thumbs up experience!

We would ask her questions about the menu and she looked like she didn't want to answer them. It also seemed as though she was rushing us through our order. My friend wasn't done telling her the specifics about her order when she turned to me and asked me for mine. I had to redirect her back to my friend so she could finish taking her order. The food was okay-ish. The noodles I got were hard to chew and the grilled chicken add on ($8 extra btw) was hard and grilled too crispy. We paid our bill in full and left no tip because the service left something to be desired and the attitude of the servers were more focused on other people. As soon as we go downstairs...another patron comes downstairs with OUR bill (that had our signatures on it bc it was a split bill) to harass us about not tipping the waitress. She mentioned that she used to work there and that she was given the bill and followed us downstairs. We were ordering our ride and she sat downstairs to wait for us to leave and said she wasn't leaving until we got our ride. We begin to go back and forth so that she can leave us alone, when one of my friends goes upstairs to find a manager (who wasn't there). A couple of minutes later, one of the bartenders comes downstairs (She has blonde ends and lip filler) and instead of trying to apologize for her friend's rude behavior just looks at her and says "It's fine" and tries to get her to go back upstairs. No apology was given nor did she try to make us feel like she was sorry it happened. I don't know what kind of establishment gives the bill of customers to other patrons, but I did not appreciate being harassed for something that wasn't her business in the first place. Overall, the lack of remorse and apologies has left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning.

The building itself is impressive, although maybe not quite as impressive as the castle-looking building next door. Our party of seven settled in at the bar as there otherwise did not seem to be a large enough table for all of us to gather around in either the main lounge area or a small room off to the side. The dark wood paneled walls, large fireplace, assortment of easy chairs, couches, and high desktop table gave off a feeling of warmth and welcoming. The friendly bartender introduced herself (sorry I've forgotten her name) and informed us that spirit-wise, the bar was capable of preparing the standard, traditional drinks like Manhattans, martinis, etc. All beers were poured from cans, and at my request, she recited the names of about six that were available. I don't believe anyone in our party inquired about the wines that were available. The building simply calls out for an explanation of its history. Upon our request, the bartender offered to provide either the "brief" or "full" option. We requested the full history. She was obviously well up to the task. You would be amazed at the variety of things you could learn here. Just to touch on a few key topics that were mentioned, consider Alexander Hamilton's wife, puffed rice, Bab-o cleanser (cue up the jingle), Bishop Gibbons, and an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know what the normal food arrangements are in the Lounge. I'm guessing that our out-of-town hosts requested some snacks for us as a few bowls appeared with mixed nuts, crackers and cheese, fresh grapes, humus, and warm pretzel/croissant rolls, and a plate of prosciutto wrapped cream cheese.
