I dined here over four years ago, while in Rome for a study abroad program. I didn't want to eat…read moreanywhere that that was touristy, so after some extensive searching, I found this gem. Though we did not speak any Italian, the shop owner was very welcoming and polite! We told him (as best we could) that we were from America and he treated us super kindly. He offered us appetizers (on the house!) so that we could sample true Italian seafood. He sent over grilled shrimp on crusty Italian bread with grilled asparagus, followed by a fritter of sorts which consisted of a ball of extremely tiny fish. The "fritter" is something I wouldn't have considered ordering as eating small fish whole isn't something I'd normally do, but it was good! For our meals, we ordered the fried seafood platter which consisted of calamari, anchovies, and other small fish and crustaceans. Wow. I was blown away! We cleaned the plates!
I recently began planning a trip to Italy for next year and knew that I'd have to mark this place for a return visit. It's truly a testament to how good the food is if, after four years, I can vividly remember what I ate! Can't wait to go back next year!
