Cabinets weren't on time - received broken. Had to wait weeks. Unorganized company considering nobody is on the same page.

Lowes just gave me a $4000+ refund and said they are trying to distance themselves from the Rock Shop! Lowes and Home Depot needs to get a quality installer to work with. We are now going to Preston Feather --- a good choice!

You could see the seams from 30 feet away. I have experience with Ubatuba granite installation at previous residence and the seam was nearly indistinguishable. They returned to "fix it" and after they left, we cleaned the countertop. We could see an obvious dull spot along the entire seam where they damaged the granite polish. Within a couple of weeks their seam repair began falling out. Additionally, they did not align the front edges and scuffed the finish off the oven cabinet during initial install. Compared to our experience with Home Depot's Contracted Installers in Virginia also using Ubatuba granite, the quality of this install in Northern Michigan is HORRIBLE! After greater than10 calls to Lowe's Installation Customer Service and calls to the local Lowe's store Dept Manager, Lowe's finally got the Rock Shop to schedule an appointment on Nov 2, 2022. At this point, if they do not remove the granite and reinstall properly or replace it completely, I am demanding a refund from Lowes and going with another vendor completely. This is a classic, "we got your money and don't care what it looks like."

I wanted to hire someone who was familiar with the area, this often helps with building codes and permitting. I met with Paul in June of 2021 to begin the design process. He met me out at my building site and took some pictures. I gave him a detailed list of must haves and gave him some sketches of what I had in mind. I am designing my permanent residence and mind you, it is only 1500 sqft. He promised that he would take everything into consideration and assured me he would be around through the build process to prevent any issues of design vs build with the builder I choose. The first round of design went ok. Some of the requests I made did not make it into his design. I requested that the garage be connected to the house. In the first round there was no garage design at all. He then designed the garage separate and not connected. I made the mistake of paying him the second half of his fee at this time. There still was no site plan at this time because of some miscommunication between the surveyor and him at this time. Everything went downhill from here. I know that changes take time and time is money. I offered to pay more money than the agreed upon sum to compensate for this. We came to a mutually agreed upon sum. Now he refuses to make any changes and Paul got pretty nasty. Here are some quotes from the e-mailed responses I got from him: "[my name]....You have got to stop making changes. Last summer when we were designing the house, was the time for changes. And its (sic) not a question of money. It has to do with time...my time...the time I have committed to other clients months ago. I can't keep coming back and taking time away from my other projects. I don't want to sound curse (sic), but I can't commit to anymore changes. I don't have the time." "This would have met ALL!!! of my OBLIGATIONS!!!....before you started making changes" Paul failed to realize that, I too, am a paying customer. I found many of his correspondence unprofessional and downright rude. Do I want my house to be designed correctly? Absolutely. Was I willing to pay more? Absolutely. Paul has now gone completely dark and refuses to answer any e-mails or phone calls. I must now hire another architect to complete what I paid him to do. My family has built several custom homes over the years. I have also been responsible for the design and build of several multimillion dollar R&D facilities in my professional career. I have not seen anything like this before. Beware and avoid.

I called many of the local dog daycare/boarding locations but all of them were booked or were not taking new dogs. Then came The Animal Inn to the rescue! They quickly responded to my voicemail and were able to take both dogs that day! After a few minute conversation about our dogs, their vaccination records, and where to locate the facility, we were all set up and dropped the dogs off about an hour later. The whole process was very easy, and once in-person with the staff it is very clear that they are experienced and care about your dogs. They gave us many options and asked us many questions to make sure both us and the dogs would be comfortable with their stay. I also liked that I could bring in bones from home for them, but it was also nice that they have blankets and everything there so I didn't have to bring all of their belongings with us. When we picked them up, the staff member told us that one of our dogs wouldn't come inside after playtime and gave the staff a smiling grin with her squinted eyes - which is a clear sign to me that they let our dogs have fun and that they were enjoying themselves, because that's her exact behavior at home when she's happy. For the two dogs boarded together with additional play time at night and in the morning, it was $57! I still can't get over that. Our daycare at home is $50 per dog per night with no added extras. I would absolutely bring our dogs back if we're in the Marquette area again, and anyone looking for boarding should feel comfortable bringing their pups here as well.

After this last stay, they will never go back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else send your dogs here. Our dog showed up on a harness, which we told them couldn't stay on her. They left it on her all weekend and now she has a huge infected hot spot under her neck. When I called to ask the place about it the owner pretty much said "oh well sorry I wasn't here when your dogs were" and "I guess I'll chew out the other people working there". When I asked to be reimbursed for the vet bill I will now have, she yelled "send me the damn bill I guess I'll pay it" the place takes no accountability for what happens to your dogs under their care.
