When I get there they are playing cards and drinking something. Then they proceed to tell me it's actually 295?? Fucking ridiculous. I'm a college student. How would one describe Marquette Detailing...... Deceitful? Absolutely. Exploitative? Without question. A scam wrapped in a city contract? Obviously. Marquette Detailing is a business that thrives not because of quality service or community trust, but because they have a monopoly through a city contract and know exactly how to profit off people in distress. After an accident, the police immediately called them to tow my vehicle less than 2 miles away to their shop. I show up to retrieve my car and am greeted with a bill over $500. Why you might ask? Because they charge $70 per day in storage fees --a detail they conveniently don't disclose upfront or anywhere in writing. But wait!--you can't pay with a card. They only accept cash, because, and I quote, "too many people dispute the charges." Gee, I wonder why. Perhaps because it's a scam? I've since talked to multiple people in our community who've had almost identical experiences. Surprise fees. No written notice. No transparency. And the same cash-only policy designed to dodge accountability. Let's be clear: this isn't just poor customer service. This is a systemic, predatory operation that hides behind its connection to local law enforcement to continue exploiting Marquette residents. When you're vulnerable, shaken, and without options, they pounce. And they profit. If you're reading this and you still have a choice--ask for a different towing company immediately!!!! If you've already been burned--file a complaint with the Michigan Attorney General. If you're a city official reading this--do better for your constituents. My daughters trasmission went out and these idiots were who our insurance called. Well we just picked her car up to bring home to repair and just wow!! They had gotten mud all inside and scrapped the whole front end down the lift...her tail pipe tips dug into the ground as well... my daughter and their neighbors who witnessed it took pictures and also a video. This business does not even deserve 1 star! My mom's car broke down recently, and she needed it towed. They agreed to pick it up for her, so I drove her to bring her keys to them. While she ran inside, I did a loop in the parking lot to turn around because there was nowhere to park. Apparently there were vehicles in the back that are under police investigation, though there was no fencing or signage. The owner came out running at my car cussing and yelling like a crazy person. It was actually scary and completely uncalled for. Needless to say, I went and got my mom and said, "We're leaving! Let's go somewhere else!" I would never recommend this company! I wish I could give zero stars. My 89 year old mom blew BOTH passenger side tires and was stranded. It was late at night and I went to pick her up while my wife called a tow truck. The guy that answered was obviously annoyed that he was being bothered and his main concern was "when and how am I getting paid for this? Will there be someone at the car with cash?" My wife said, I can just give you my credit card number right now. He didn't want to do that because he didn't know the mileage yet or what to charge. (it was like 5 miles...). He said, "I'll call you when I drop it off, but I need to get paid." My wife asked, do you have an idea of the time? He said, "hard to say when I'll get to it.... might be 1:30 in the morning. Anyway.... we missed his call (sleeping), so he left a message saying he towed it to his shop (not our mechanic, which is what we wanted). When I finally talked to him, he said, when I get paid for this tow, we can tow it to your mechanic, but I'm not dropping it until I'm paid for that one too! Just over the top rudeness all the way around. The way he talked, you'd think we were criminals who staged a fake double blowout just to get a free tow out of the deal. Hard to believe this place remains in business. The worst part is, my wife TRIED TO GIVE HIM A CREDIT CARD UP FRONT. read more

My car was involved in an accident which totaled my car. I went to get my personal belongings from my vehicle. They refused my request until I paid towing and storage even though they knew it would be involved in an insurance claim. I told it was illegal under Michigan law to deny access to retrieve personal belongings. The owner told me to get off his property. Just got out of court with them and the judge ordered them to allow me access to the vehicle. UPDATE: Went and got my personal property today and items were visibly missing before I even opened the door. read more

I guess I'm going to add a another one star to their long list of them! I am staying at the Beacon House because my husband is having kidney cancer surgery. My truck would not start and I was not prepared to walk to the hospital. I called AAA and the gal told me that this company would be coming out and warned me and she also put it in her notes that they were very rude to her. Well they were very rude to me and what I mean by that is they called another company and they were rude to them and said they didn't want to help me out! I've never heard of a company firing you and passing you on to another company especially when AAA was the one that set it up. From reading the reviews I guess I dodged a bullet! The company that came out also told me that this company was known for being very rude. Do yourself a favor and just skip over them and go to someone else. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. TERRIBLE BUSINESS, RUDE PEOPLE. SCAMMERS! My car was towed here after a crash and they were suppose to send information for the claim to my insurance. Instead they claimed they sent the information, but couldn't (& still can't) show any proof. Then they demanded I take the car back, yet refused to release it until my insurance had paid for their tow services and storage of the car. They never once reached out to me or the insurance company over an entire month, and never were able to tell me what was wrong with the car even though they claimed to have already found out. The man on the phone, Pat, refused to take my email and provide any proof of sending the information to begin with. He also acted both offended and surprised that I asked for the owner to call me to provide some clarity since I was speaking with a man who obviously had no idea how to work a computer, and couldn't provide me with even a hint of information pertaining to my car. Do NOT bring your business here. They refused to cooperate and made me play telephone between them and State Farm for hours. read more

Beware! If you call this company for towing, make sure you ask what they are going to charge you BEFORE they pull you out. We got stuck in a drifted area of a scenic lookout east of Marquette and called our auto insurance company to get a tow truck for us. They did warn us that there MAY be an additional charge depending on how difficult the tow was. When the employee arrived, he set a poor tone right off the bat by being unfriendly and condescending. He initially was going to pull us out from the front (where the snow was deeper), but we pointed out that there was virtually no snow behind us--2 other drivers had pulled up behind us to ask if we needed help--so it was obviously easier to pull from behind. Seems like he started out right from the beginning trying to make it more difficult that it really was. The Jeep he brought pulled us out in about 5 minutes. He then said it would be $125 MORE than the $75 our insurance would cover. When we questioned why it was so much, he said it was because (1) we were in an unplowed area where we were not supposed to be (untrue--it was a plowed lookout that had simply drifted over in a few spots), and (2) because we needed a "specialty" vehicle because a wrecker would not fit in the area (also untrue--the area could easily accommodate a normal tow truck). It got ugly and he and my husband got into it, with the employee shouting "It's $125" over us while we tried to point out that his reasons were untrue. When my husband suggesting calling the police, the guy lowered it to $100. Looking back, I wish we had called the police and accused the business of gouging us because we were in a bind. I should have at least videotaped the scene , and his behavior, for proof he was exaggerating the conditions. This business is a terrible representative of Marquette! read more

My car was towed here after a car accident in October. I have avoided leaving a review and was going to just let it go. My car was estimated to be done in two weeks. After two weeks I was told itd be done the following Friday. I called back and they said they hadn't even ordered the parts and had no idea why I thought it would be done. This continued until my car was there for about a month. They would tell me it was almost done and then extended it even longer. They left plenty of scratches to the hood, left my front hood unlatched when I picked it up, told me to bring it back later in the week because they hadn't finished everything, and the paint on my new door doesn't match. I would have let that all go. But now I went to get a flat tire fixed and I found out that they put the wrong size tires on my car meaning I just spent $300 replacing all of them. I would never reccomend this place and in fact I tell everyone to stay far away. read more

BEWARE!!!!! Price gouging seems to be a thing with this business. Police had them tow my car after an accident (cops chose this company) and they won't tell me if they looked at my car or not; and are charging me $1000.00 for having my car there. They said- they tried to call me but, they DID NOT and won't let me take my car and/or won't fix it. I never signed anything stating a per day charge nor, was I told. They didn't even have business cards. Now, I have to hire a lawyer to get my car. Beware students and women. Marquette police should find a better BBB certified non-scamming towing company to pick up cars! This is obscure and so wrong! read more

I was in an accident on a Saturday and AAA covered a tow to their shop. We were about a mile from the location. The tow truck showed up in about 10 minutes. I was warned that there would be a daily fee for "storage" and that they weren't going to look at it for 2 days (not the day of- Saturday, and closed the next day- Sunday). The tow truck driver suggested we go down the road another 1/2 mile to a hotel. He didn't have room for our 2 car seats (I asked AAA for a tow that could carry the car seats, but there wasn't one.) My husband walked our two kids and all our stuff from our vacation the 1/2 mile down the highway to the hotel. The driver dropped me off at the lobby and helped me collect our car seats from the car and drove off. The next day (Sunday) I checked reviews for this place and saw that they were incapable of completing repairs on time. Meanwhile, I'm paying $100 a day between a rental car and their storage fees. We decide not to let them repair it, but we still needed an estimate on damages for the insurance. They gave us the quote in a timely manner on Monday but that's where the courtesy ends. We show up the next day (Tuesday) to collect my car. The place is a dump. It looks like a salvage yard. The interior lobby area was coated in so much dust you couldn't see the color of anything. There were overturned chairs, paint cans, 2 broken down cars, and just filth everywhere. I was shocked that this place was affiliated with AAA. Then a different man than the tow truck driver (who was right there too) started to hand-write the bill. He charged us for 4 days. We were there picking it up by 10 am on Tuesday. I complained about being charged a day's storage for just 2 hours, in addition to them only having the car a few hours on Saturday as well. He smirked and changed the bill to 3 days. Also they only take cash. No checks, credit cards, or debit cards. And they have no ATM. He pointed to one at a nearby gas station. We had to wait for them to move 2 flatbed trucks before we could navigate our way out of the yard. The yard was covered in glass. Brown, green, and clear glass everywhere. Thankfully I didn't get a flat from it. Also the quote to just make it "driveable" was $1000 and at least 3 days for parts. My dad hammered the metal away from my back tire and inspected everything. The strut was a 1/4" low so he moved it back up. It was then perfectly safe and driveable for the several-hour trip home. No $1000 and no parts. read more
