If he knows about his produce, I'm sure he wasn't hired unless he knows some knowledge on produce, he could at least suggested a good pumpkin with seeds you can eat! The one we picked, the seeds were hard, and I have to use a nut cracker to get them opened, and they were tasteless! On the other hand, we also bought a Purple Popcorn, packaged by the Amish group. The 2nd time we popped them, I could tell the difference, between the popcorn we're used to and the purple popcorn. They TASTED like you're eating cobs! Even if we used the same technique in popping them, and using the same olive oil, minced garlic & some salt for flavoring. (We took them to the squirrels in Molalla, during my event there!)

I was able to observe them harvest the turnips then go to the processing plant where they were washing and packaging. The operation was very impressive. The vegetables were gently washed then hand packed in 25 pound bads! The Montecucco Family has been in the farming business for over 110 years! They know what they are doing and their produce shows it! Montecucco parsnips, beets, turnips, cucumbers, and rhubarb are grown locally but shipped globally! Their fresh, organically grown, meticulously handled, gently washed, hand-packed vegetables are unparalleled. I tasted the beets, parsnips, cucumbers, and green beans. They were fresh and delicious! They also have rutabagas, turnips and rhubarb. I had heard about the fresh produce that the Montecucco's ship globally but to see their farmland at the edge of the Willamette River was a sight to behold. After 114 years in business you can imagine what a well-oiled machine their production process was. Unbelievable! My grandfather grew artichokes and brussel sprouts on the Northern California coast for many, many years and visiting the Montecucco Family's Farm reminded me of how important it is to support a long-standing and respected family run farm business by purchasing their produce, telling your community to also do so, and asking your grocer to buy from them. It's the American way. If we don't do this, there will be no active family farmland left. Three cheers for Montecucco Farms!

My favorite part of Fir Point is the food and drinks. Their hard pumpkin spice cider is the best I've ever had (although a 12oz can is expensive at $7 each). Their bakery is simply amazing also, they sell dozens of different sandwiches, wraps, salads or paninis that are all made to order with fresh ingredients. They have everything from dairy, grains/baking, local and Oregonian products, fresh produce, meats, wine and beer, and fresh meals from the deli and kitchen. I like that their produce is labeled where it came from, usually from Oregon, Washington, California, or Mexico. They have a variety of sweet potato. I tend to always buy their prunes, carrots, melons, in season berries, beets, tomatoes, and snap peas. Their kombucha is yummy! Brunch is very popular here. It was sold out one Saturday afternoon. If you join the coop, you'll have one day out of the month to get a little discount off of your groceries. I wished it was more days of the month, to be honest. But, they have fun events throughout the month and year, like pizza fridays (family friendly) and holiday dinners on the farm. Come check out this place if you live in the Wilsonville-Sherwood area. Now, they are not found along a major road or…read morehighway, so it's no wonder it took me so long to discover them, but if you live in McMinnville or thereabouts, they are worth a couple minutes drive out into the "country" part of McMinnville. I have taken to stopping here first on my weekly shopping trips. I try to purchase the majority of my produce at Draper Farms, then supplement as needed at the standard grocery store. I live pretty rurally, so I generally don't make it into town for the Thursday farmer's market like I wish I could. Draper Farms is the perfect alternative that I can hit Saturday, Sunday, or any day of the week that is convenient. Offerings cycle with the seasons, but they are growing lots of great stuff here, and there is always an excellent variety of options. A few of my favorites are their strawberries, radishes, corn, leeks, collards, and herbs. No matter the time of year they will have some sort of lettuce, cabbage, spinach, or other greens. I recently grabbed some divine kiwi berries, finished in a single day, and have dreamed of them since. For autumn, they offer an array of pumpkin varieties for 30 cents a pound which is the least I've seen anywhere, and much prettier than what you can find at a grocery store. They also had fall décor, including stunning glass gem corn. There is even a separate fresh cut flower stand! They accept cash, check or Venmo (the latter is such an appreciated option, yay!). They have some bags available, though you should bring your own if you can. Prices are generally less than the grocery store, and for much higher quality produce! There is a good amount of parking. They also offer a CSA.
