It's unfortunate that I have to write a negative review because I genuinely liked Dr. Marlowe, but my experience with the billing department has been extremely unacceptable. I had a surgical procedure on October 16th involving a middle ear injection to address eustachian tube dysfunction. This procedure had been scheduled months in advance. A day before my the surgery date, Dr. Marlowe's office contacted me and required a $450 out-of-pocket payment for the injection, stating they would work with my insurance afterward to assist with reimbursement. I paid this amount. On the morning of surgery, I arrived at the surgery center at 6:00 a.m. and was informed that I would also need to pay a $1,200 surgery center fee because it had not been submitted to my insurance for pre-authorization. The office had several months to obtain authorization but had not done so - to my expense. I was told that if I did not pay the $1,200 that morning, the procedure would need to be rescheduled. After waiting months with intermittent hearing in one ear, I felt I had no choice but to pay. It has now been four months, and I have not been reimbursed for either charge due to repeated billing errors. My insurance company has issued multiple denials based on incorrect coding, missing documentation, and failure to submit required retro-authorization forms. Each time I follow up, they tell me "it's resolved on their end." It's "resolved" because I paid it! Unless I consistently pursue updates myself, no action is taken. I carry excellent insurance coverage, and reimbursement should not be difficult. Zero Stars I made an appointment with Dr. Marlowe for FESS endoscopic sinus surgery. I've had chronic sinusitis for years. I have radiology reports back at least ten years stating "grossly deviated septum with spur" and was told I may have skull base tumors. I simply wanted the procedure to clear my sinuses. I brought CT scans, MRI, even my laptop with dicom medical imaging reader. He was rude, had his medical assistant open up the images in another room and didnt go over them with me, despite me bringing my laptop and disc player into the exam room. Despite knowing I need a FESS, despite my insurance already approving the procedure, he came back into the room and told me I was fine and didnt need the FESS. I was very surprised because I went to the appointment with the intend on scheduling surgery. I said, "what about my deviated septum, can you fix it" and he looked surprised and LIED to me (his facial movements and eyes let me know he was lying) and says, "its not that bad". I also brought along my medication list. He saw I already take 40mg of Protonix for GERD, and yet the only thing he did do was write me a second Rx for Protonix, that I didnt need. This was a waste of my time, waste of $45 copay, waste of health insurance payout. Do not beLIEve the 5 star reviews as he pays people to write them. Worthless. This guy Marlowe is worthless. Find another ENT. EDIT: to add the CT Scan from 2021 he said "looked fine" has this Radiology report: "septal deviation, convex, airway obstruction 50 - 75% and septal spur". A simple google search: "A convex septal deviation with 50-75% airway obstruction and a septal spur indicates a significant deviation of the nasal septum, likely causing noticeable breathing difficulties and potentially other issues like sinus infections. The deviation, especially when combined with a septal spur, can create a significant narrowing of the nasal passages, leading to impaired airflow." This doctor, Dr. Marlowe is a loser who is afraid to do ENT surgery. AVOID HIM. EDIT #2. When I showed Marlowe the Afrin/Lidocaine nasal spray that ENT Associates of Manatee gave me a few years ago, he looked stupid and asked me why they would give something like that to me. IDIOT. I had an absolutely horrible experience with Abbie Heupel. She is extremely stuck up and arrogant. She did not care to listen to how I was feeling and my symptoms. She is a prime example of a pill pusher and why we as a country have failed our people so many times within western medicine. She didn't care to hear me out and seemed to just want to quickly diagnose me and prescribe medication rather than further look at what the root issue could be. She prioritized a quick fix rather than comprehensive care. This was by far one of the worst experiences I have had with a "doctor." read more

My appointments were with Dr. Marrs. He is no longer at this practice. They didn't say he retired or died just that he was no longer a part of the practice. I saw him three times. Each time I saw him he showed me some hearing loss in one ear. He said high pitched voices, like women and children would be affected. He urged me strongly to get a hearing aid which they sell. I told him I didn't care. I didn't want a hearing aid for such a minor loss. I went every year to have wax removed. The suction was painful and he told me not to complain. Now he's gone from the practice but I am not going to see Dr. Marlowe. I will look elsewhere for ENT care. My insurance company has dropped them from my providers list. No explanation. I cannot recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I lost hearing in my left ear on a Friday. I went to Venice Hospital Emergency on Saturday morning, but found no answers. I was very anxious for answers. On the following Monday, I searched for Eye, Ear and Throat (Otolaryngologist) Doctor. I called five and only Dr. Marlowe found the time to see me that day and within an hour. The visit included an audio test followed by a consultation. I was diagnosed with a nerve damaged ear and Dr. Marlowe set forth an aggressive recovery plan with medications and an ordered MRI. I thanked Dr. Marlowe for seeing me so quickly. He said that these situations require quick action if there is any hope of recovery for this condition, which is only 50% at best. read more

I think everyone who was a patient of Dr. Chad Mars in the practice of Marlow & Mars has the right to know that Dr. Mars is still in practice in Sarasota on Clark Road & is not allowed to reach out to his patients that he has opened his own practice. The office of Dr. Marlow is unwilling to tell you this information and keeps him from the patients that he had cultivated. They are not patients of the practice but of Dr. Marlow but patients of Dr. Mars who happened to be affiliated with the practice of Dr. Marlow. It happens to be that he was never made a partner in this practice that he was promised when relocating here to Sarasota. I have found all this out by talking to other patients and find this unethical on the part of Dr. Marlow. Surely they realize that people will find where Dr. Marrs is and will think poorly of the practice of Dr. Marlow for withholding this information. It would be better for his practice if he took the high road and held no animosity. Dr. Marlow's practice solicited me in several phone calls to reschedule my appointment with a new person in their practice but not disclosing that Dr. Mars was still in Sarasota when out right asked where he was their response was they were not sure if he was still in the state of Florida. I find that distasteful and would never go to their practice after this experience. You have your patients; let him keep his patients. This makes Dr. Marlow look really bad. read more

I have been a patient with Marlowe ENT for 5 + years - mostly as a hearing aid client but I had an ear problem they also helped me with. I have received excellent care from the Audiology Team in keeping my hearing in best shape and promptly doing repairs when the inevitable oopses happen. Went to Dr. Marlowe for chronic sinus infection. PA did "low tech" exam just like my primary care Dr did. She asked Marlowe what to do, they took an xray which didn't show anything. He prescribed heavy duty anti-depressant for migraine which I have never had. He never examined me. I went to a new Dr. today who did a thorough exam with camera in sinus cavities. He saw infection in at least one of the crevices of the sinus. Then he ordered a CAT scan saying Xray's are not detailed enough to show crevices of sinuses. I had to have molds taken of both ear canals and I was treated so nicely by Dr. Marlowe and his assistant, Brittany. It was slightly uncomfortable, but I was made to feel relaxed while we had an ongoing conversation punctuated with laughter! Both were professional and kind. They are the best! An update to my prior post.... So upon being turned away at this clinic, I subsequently received a faxed apology. Sounds good, right? Nope! The manager, Jeanne, first misspelled my first name which was was only spelled for her on a couple of occasions. Secondly, Jeanne seems to like to apologize in one sentence and then say a snarky comment in the second sentence to be followed by another apology and then more defending of her point which is poorly defended by her. The bottom line is that she was completely in the wrong when I was turned away. Should you wish to go to a clinic that treats clients like they are wasting their time and show zero empathy, then this is the place for you. For the manager to handle the situation in the poorest way possible is laughable. Plenty of other good places to go in the Sarasota area so I would pass on this establishment at all cost. read more
