First things, first. I have been a patient here for close to twenty years - through three different…read morepractice owners/dentists - and have always gotten great dental care. Brenda is probably the best hygienist I've ever been to. Personable and pleasant, thorough and knowledgeable - an all-around excellent hygienist. Dr. Settles is equally great. I cannot say enough good things about them or their treatment and skill level. The office staff, on the other hand, is abysmal. They routinely send out "bills" based on " insurance estimates", even after the participating insurance company has paid. Most recently I called to question a bill that both I and my insurance said was paid and that I owed nothing. This was the second time I received this bill and was now "past due." (Delta Dental told me it was paid within one week of my visit.) "Susan" initially took my call. Three different times I gave her my name and account number, and each time she tried linking me to a totally different patient. Finally, she transferred me to "Tina", the office manager. I have never been treated so rudely nor unprofessionally as Tina treated me. Tina first told me that the bill was automatically generated and there was nothing to be done about it. When I challenged her, she told me that was just the way it was and to ignore it. I pressed her by saying it needs to be fixed and that I did not want to end up in collections due to an automated erroneous "bill" (that is based on an estimate.) Again, Tina blew it off so I followed by saying that she knew there was error and wouldn't fix it, and that if I ended up in collections I reserved the right to sue for false billing; she/her office needed to fix this, that I was done dealing with it. Things went horribly sideways from that point on. Tina said she'd just "de-list" me and I'd never hear anything from them again. I replied by saying I had no intention of quitting the practice, only that I wanted the billing corrected. From that point onwards, Tina constantly over-talked me and wouldn't let me say anything. I tried telling her that I had already called Delta Dental, that Delta Dental told me I owed nothing, and that Wytheville Dental Group had been paid on June 21, 2023 for my June 14, 2023 office visit. I also kept trying to tell Tina that Delta Dental had provided a reference/event number. Tina kept over-talking me and wouldn't listen. I finally told her to "shut up and listen to me for just a minute." Tina then hung up the phone on me. I never got a chance to give her, nor anyone else, the reference number from Delta Dental. I tried calling back for the next fifteen minutes, but my calls were never answered. I can only presume Tina told the front desk to ignore my calls. I then reached out to Wytheville Dental Group via their Facebook page. Within an hour, someone named "Sherry" responded, saying she would call me "around 9 am" the following morning. Edited to add that Sherry is the overall practice manager. She called as promised, and was very professional and very apologetic, and she assured me that this issue will be addressed. I had an urgent need to…read moresee a dentist and was thrilled to find an office who was willing to schedule an appointment so quickly, so I jumped on the opportunity, but the front office was super challenging to work with. They were nice, but impossible to get ahold of over the phone. Kept having to leave a message and then wait for a call back. My employer had an issue transferring corporate insurance over, so it required some communication on Aspen Dental's end, which was lackluster at best. Most of the time when you call, you are leaving a voicemail. Sometimes you'll call, key in and follow all the prompts to the point where you should be able to leave a voicemail and then it just hangs up on you. This happened multiple times. In addition, they were supposed to call in my prescription 2 days prior to my appointment. I wasn't able to make it to the pharmacy the day prior and work a full time job. Was already taking 1/2 day for the appointment & guess what? They didn't call it in when they said they would, so multiple phone calls again to CVS & Aspen Dental. Ended up missing what I had planned the night before because of it. Also, BE CAREFUL! They recommended a variety of filling replacements. Said they were old and should be replaced. Unless I have a cavity forming under one of them, or it falls out, um... no thank you! They wanted about $1200, $900 of which was just recommended. My insurance would have covered some of that, but still. I've never heard of a dentist replacing fillings before. They try to squeeze extra money from you for services you don't really need, so don't fall for it! When I finally came in for my appointment, I waited an hour & finally asked how much longer. Turns out the front office forgot to tell the doctor I was there. Ug! Doctor was nice/professional and I really liked all of the dental hygienists I worked with. But I probably won't be going back. Customer service is not great at all. If you can't answer my phone call sometimes, fine, I can understand that, but not answering phone calls ever means I won't come back. That's unacceptable in my opinion.

Everything is so clean and in such great condition, you know they really take pride in the office. From the moment you call in and talk to one of the wonderful ladies on the phone (Taylor, or Brandi) you feel welcome. They make the scheduling process a piece of cake! When you walk in, you'll most likely receive a warm greeting from Darla! Everyone loves Darla! She's the sweetest! They have beverages you can grab before or after Taylor comes to take you on a tour of the office! My favorite part of the tour is being able to see all the dental suites and their different names! If you're lucky, you'll get to spend some time in Maui! ;) They even give you a new patient gift! How nice is that?! I LOVE my koozie, cup, chapstick, and all my goodies! I use them all the time! They really value customer service here and making sure you're comfortable. Have you see their comfort menu?! This office truly changes the way you will think about going to the dentist. The chairs are massage chairs with heat! You can watch movies with their super cool movie goggles, snuggle up with a blanket and pillow, get some aroma therapy eye pillows, noise canceling headphones, and relax while you know you're getting top notch dentistry! The hygienists(Bethany, Kristy, and Whittley) are amazing at educating you about your oral health and how it directly relates to the rest of your body! They are so knowledgeable, gentle, and compassionate. They do SO much more than just clean your teeth! Dr. Gravitte (and his associates) are some of the most genuine, caring, kind, and talented doctors in the world! He also has a doctor for root canals and oral surgery come to the office so you don't have to go to other places! So convenient! I am blown away at their level of care. All of the assistants truly care about you and are so great at calming fears and anxiety. I feel confident referring my friends and family to this office and I honestly can't wait to go back! If you live in Mt. Airy or anywhere near by, and haven't been to this office, you're truly missing out! They have patient appreciation events(with prizes!) and are constantly involved and giving back to the community. This is a business that makes you feel good about supporting. BONUS!: During the summer they have a valet who will WASH your car while you're there! What?!? AMAZING! No one else will do that! Guaranteed! Dr. Gravitte is the most GENEROUS and KIND hearted business owner in Mt. Airy-guaranteed. The amount of time and money he has donated to the community in a variety of ways is incredible. He has put his life into this big beautiful building to create the best experience possible for every patient. Ex: free car detailing at visits! Yearly dentistry from the heart events, education at the local schools, and that just names a few. They all put patients first and care so much about patient care that they do not allow insurance companies to dictate the treatment you receive! I think this tells you everything you REALLY need to know about Dr. Gravitte and the entire team here. They are the best of the best and this is from someone with prior dental experience(for 5 years) with a careers that allows me to travel to dental offices around the world.
