When I made it to the register the cashier told me I wasn't allowed to purchase what the associate had put together for me. Almost like a build your own 4 pack or 6 pack. The cashier said you aren't allowed to do this and rambling on nonsense as if I knew this wasn't allowed. I explained the associate put this together for me. She then told him no you can't do this. Poor guy was just giving great service and the lady could care less. I'll drive a little farther away from home to get some good selection and great service.

I don't know about you but when I buy liquor such as a bottle of Hennessy, it doesn't matter if I buy it from a nice store, or a ghetto one, Hennessy is Hennessy where ever you get it, but this place has a good price on their liquor and great friendly service. There was a time I went by there quite a bit, and got to know the guy who worked there and his dad who owns the store, they are really great people and if you ask me, Yelp is about these little hidden gems. Cheers.

The store is small and doesn't have the biggest selection but they have a little bit of everything you could want/need. The prices are a little higher than the liquor stores I frequent in the Springs but that could just be a cost of living type thing. What really stood out to me was the level of customer service we received. Most liquor stores are family-owned mom and pop shops but I never find the staff to be very friendly or interested in providing service. The man working here last night (4/24/2019) was so friendly and kind that my husband and I both commented on his friendliness as soon as we left. It's not hard to be friendly and let your customers know that you appreciate them, but it goes a long way and you'd be surprised how many small business owners miss out on that opportunity. If we lived in the area we would definitely shop here regularly just based on the service alone, even if the prices or selection aren't quite as competitive as others in the area.

This establishment has been in the neighborhood longer than most residents, and Haile, (the owner),…read moreis kind to every customer and takes care of his regulars by stocking his store with their favorites. He and Mike, (his assistant), run the place with a strong arm, so although there are usually vagrants in the parking lot who ask for money, I've always felt safe as a single woman, because I know Haile is watching out for me from his cameras. He is a smart businessman who started as a hotdog vendor in D.C. and built his business by working hard, (he only takes one day off a year on Christmas). His lovely wife and children sometimes help in the store, and I've always been impressed by them, as well. His prices are the best in town, and contrary to what some reviewers have said, he does stock his store with high quality wines and beers--not just malt liquor and "bumwine." I've been a patron for over 20 years now, and I won't go anywhere else. This place is solid.

If there is every a certain beer I am looking for that Hallie (the owner) doesn't have stocked he orders it specially for me and will call me when its in. Hallie goes above and beyond to make sure ALL of his customers - not just the affluent ones - have what they are looking for. Two side notes about how awesome Hallie is: 1) I had a monstrous cold one weekend and I had some guy friends coming into town and needed to pick up brews for them. When checking out Hallie noticed I wasn't feeling well and closed his register, walked me across the street to this unassuming little shop where one of his friends works to buy me an herbal tea that he swore would make me better. 2) Hallie donated (from his own pocket) close to $1,000 to fund the official "Welcome to Cole Neighborhood" signs that are being put up around the Cole Neighborhood. He values this neighborhood and the people that live in it. This is the kind of gentlemen you want running a business in your community. Which brings me to my next point and really why this place deserves 5 stars...Hallie and his team at Royal Drug do a huge service to this community. First and foremost they treat what some people in our neighborhood deem as "vagrants," "troublemakers" and "delinquents" with respect and kind service. I appreciate that Hallie and his staff keep any actual trouble in line as best they can and know most of their customers by name and do what they can to mitigate any kind of trouble in their store by addressing these people one on one. I will forever be a patron of Royal Drug -- and you should too! :) :)
