So I had found Willard Brothers while doing a search for local places that sell hardwood. Your…read moretypical big box store may carry a few things but really lack quality and selection typically. When I went to their website they had a lot of different woods listed and probably one of the most extensive lists of hardwoods I've seen locally. I decided to head down there to see what I can find and to pick up some things for a variety of projects as well as some future things. Driving there was a little difficult and not due to any fault of theirs but the GPS had taken me to their neighbor's lot and so I had to ask and drive over one more. If I had paid attention I would have noticed that the numbers did not line up but it told me to make a left turn and it wasn't like 10 ft away from the next entrance so I did and it was an odd conundrum to be in. They had a lot of selections laid out in an ancillary building with a ton of slabs and giant rounds, it reminded me of an old table My grandmother has that was a thick finished round probably 4 to 5 ft in diameter that was live edge. That table is easily over 50 years old but I would imagine if you wanted to make something like that you could come here. Inside they had a ton of boards you can buy ranging from rosewood they had some ebony as well as common things like maple, oak, and walnut. I ended up buying a few boards of purpleheart for projects for my wife. The staff here were very helpful and we're able to cut some boards down to the length so I needed. I think the rule is that the board has to have at least 6 ft left to do a cut of a smaller piece. But I would just confirm that before you ask them to do anything. On all if you do any type of amateur or I guess more professional woodworking this is a great place to stop I feel like their prices were pretty good their selection was amazing and the people here are pretty nice

From online reviews, I contacted Levan, the owner, who responded very promptly to come over and…read morelook at two lamps that I needed to have repaired, even though it was at the end of a long day for him. He quickly understood what he thought would be necessary, said he'd pick them up the next day and, once he took them, had them fixed and ready to go in just a few days. He also brought them back with new bulbs, including one that dims (which I hadn't had before). The price was extremely reasonable and he was personable and very polite. I recommend him without reservation for your electrical needs.

I put in a request through yelp. He had the best price and moved his scheduled around to accommodate my current needs (house selling, inspections, etc) He was there early and had finished by the time he was actually supposed to be there. It was a simple outlet issue and instead of charging for the outlet, he showed me that the outlet was good just needed to be rewired. He really could have ran the price up but chose to be genuine and when you have someone like that (much like a good barber or mechanic) you don't go elsewhere and you go out of your way to tell people about them. I will certainly be contacting him on the future. Levan is based out of Newtown and really "could" charge Newtown prices but is an honest and trustworthy guy. Highly recommend. -J

Who knew that replacing a medicine cabinet could be such a monumental chore? I spent several days…read moreand way too many hours surfing the internet to find a replacement for a 24"x 30"x 6" recessed cabinet made of faux wood purchased 18 yrs ago at Pottery Barn. Amazon is mostly loaded with junk made in China and none of it matched my specs. Wayfair did NOT have what I needed, and what they had listed was already on Amazon anyway! So then I decided to try and find a NJ based woodworking business that could make my dream a reality. I really lucked out when I came across https://ridderworks.com/ Within the same day that I contacted Philip Ridder (the master woodworker-in-chief of #Ridderworks) a plan was set in motion for him to come to my home to inspect the space and take measurements. I gave him a photo of the item I was looking for as well as the original mirror that I salvaged from the old cabinet. The final quote arrived 2 days later, and I just picked up my dream yesterday (11/25/23) at Philip's very impressive workshop and showroom in Hamilton, NJ. I feel true craftsmanship is very difficult to come by in 2023 and I'm so done with paying $$$ for junk of inferior quality. Philip is very easy to work with and he kept me apprised of the progress of the build. His pricing is competitive and the quality of his work is far superior to what's out there in cyberspace, so I have just commissioned him to build another small storage cabinet for my powder room that is now undergoing renovation. Watch this space for more photos to come!
