I typically prefer word of mouth referrals and Accent Paint was one of a few contractors I called to bid for reno work. Specifically, painting the whole house (about 1,800 sq ft) crown moldings and tile work on the first floor. Not only was Accent priced competitively, but the crew was professional and skilled in their craft, running an organized schedule with set up and clean up and everything in between. Recently I had some tiles fall in my master bathroom due to grout that had fallen out and seeped through exposing water damaged Sheetrock and knew I had to call Irving at Accent and this time for a master bathroom renovation (about 100 sq ft). I could have just repaired it for a couple hundred bucks but instead let Accent take over and create what looks like a luxury master bathroom in my humble abode complete with dual fan/light and Bluetooth capable for music AND a barn door that opens to what I couldn't have imagined on my own. Custom shower glass doors with bench and nook, tiles on the floor and half wall with mosaic detailing, high hat and painting with crown molding. It's GORGEOUS. My neighbor and I had agreed to work together on the project; we live on an historic designated street, and the town of Princeton, NJ requires coordination of colors, architectural details, safe removal of lead paint, etc. We agreed to seek at least three estimates and in-person consultations for the work. Joe, the owner of Five Star, was our last consult, and afterward we agreed that if the price was fair, we'd hire his company. The price was reasonable - neither the cheapest nor the most expensive we were quoted. As soon as we received our formal estimates we sent out the required deposits - half of the total price, with the rest to be paid upon completion. Five Star is truly an owner-operated company; the owner, Joe, was onsite virtually every day of the project, directing work, and often working himself. This proved to be very necessary, because the block on which my house is situated is more like an alley - houses are very close together, parking scarce, and the neighbors are, well, very involved and vocal at every stage of the project. Joe and his crew did fine work on these old houses; they went from worn and even dilapidated, to crisply bright and refreshed. Very simply, the houses look good, but getting them there was no easy task: lead paint to carefully and safely remove; frequent repairs to old woodwork and moldings; and, importantly, keeping the neighbors informed and content at every stage of the process. In short, I was delighted with the work of Five Star - everyone at the company, from the office staff to every worker, was unfailingly polite and competent.
