i am beyond impressed with this place! It is incredibly well priced and the service was top tier. Our server (Eve) was attentive and gave great menu recommendations, the manager (Brian) checked on us more than once and was very kind. The place was clean and nicely decorated. The serving sizes are great (definitely at least two meals for me!) and tasted amazing. I tried their brisket, grilled chicken, and pulled pork, my favorite was their brisket. the onion straws were crispy and a great starter. and the buttermilk pie.. it melts in your mouth. also... mention its your first time! they gave us a free bottle of their BBQ sauce (to die for) and free dessert. overall a wonderful time and i can't wait to come back. Just a quick shout out to this Fern Creek location. They had the BEST Halloween gathering a few days before, for all the customers kids. Decorated to the nines, lots of fun and activities and treats. The kiddos had a blast. When u go, consider trying their turkey, chicken sandwiches, and lemon pepper fish. We love all....plentiful servings, lightly crusted chicken and fish, the turkey is piled high and delish. Although I'm a creature of habit with their potato salad, we opted for the sweet potato and baked potato today. It's been a few years since I ate a Marks Feed store. I used to work close to this one (Highlands) and this is where we would order from. Anytime my friend and I want to go out to eat, it ranges from our regular spots to something we never tried or don't go often enough. Marks Feed store randomly came up. They do have private parking and street parking at this location, we of course chose the private parking. We go inside and it wasn't very busy so being seated by the hostess was a breeze. We were also quick to be waited on and were able to order our food. We both ordered the same thing, pulled pork sandwich meals. And for having the Yelp app i was able to get the free Buttermilk Pie slice. We were both very satisfied with our meals and the fries were delicious. Mark's original BBQ never disappoints and is always a favorite. We both also loved the Buttermilk Pie Slice that we split. Thank you Yelp for the free slice. Then I met Austin the Manager and he educated me on some of best home made menu items. I ended with a piece of buttermilk pie which was amazing. Popped into Mark's for some carry out BBQ a few minutes before closing time. On the positive side, the staff was incredibly friendly. They offered suggestions on favorite sides, sandos, etc. Food was ready in 5min, so it was speedy. The food was a bit underwhelming - none of the bbq could stand alone as it all needed seasoning of some kind. The accompanying sauces are very sweet, if you like that type of sauce. The sides were not my fave - they were a bit bland and were pretty cold from sitting out all night. I'd go back in a pinch since there isn't barbecue on Bardstown. I bet the timing of our order had a lot to do with the food since it was pretty late. read more

Decided to try this location since they had good reviews and were craving some barbecue. Two adults and two small children were in our party and we went for their lunch specials. Chelsea was our server and was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and overall really helpful. Two people in our party are gluten-free, and when I advised Chelsea, she made sure to tell us they could not guarantee there would be no gluten due to cross contamination as they use the same fryer for all items. Neither one of the gluten-free individuals in our party have celiac disease, mainly gluten intolerance. However, that information is super helpful and important for folks who do have celiac. They offer several sides that do not contain glutenous ingredients, as well as their barbecue sauces being gluten-free. If selecting a sandwich, you can add a gluten-free bun for an additional $1.25. We ordered three lunch brisket sandwiches, and one pork lunch sandwich (with 2 with gluten-free buns). The brisket was tasty but rather fatty. The pork was dry and not much of a smoke ring. The gluten-free buns were very big, and more like a large roll rather than a bun, with that being said, it made the sandwich even more dry. I would not order the gluten-free bun again, I personally would rather just have the meat with the barbecue sauce on it. We also order an add-on 3 bones of ribs, which were delivered to our table ice cold. We advised Chelsea and she took them back and went to the kitchen to tell them we needed some fresh hot ribs. Once the hot ribs arrived, they were delicious. The sides we tried were macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries, baked beans, green beans, and homestyle chips (without their spicy seasoning). One child had the macaroni and cheese and liked it. The sweet potato fries are coated in cinnamon and sugar and were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The baked beans were absolutely delicious and enjoyed by everyone in our party. The green beans were savoury but needed some salt and pepper added. One child had the homestyle chips with the dipping sauce and loved them. I checked in on Yelp! and received a free slice of buttermilk pie, which we had packaged to take home. We all had some lunch leftovers, not enough for a full meal but definitely will make a nice snack. read more

There is a parking lot but it was very tight spaced and you are depending on others to stay within the lines. The atmosphere was busy and fun. Service was a little slow or at times thought may have forgotten our table. The sides (Mac n cheese and spicy fries) were tasty, but the meat seemed a little dry and required a lot of the sauces. My husband & I stopped here for dinner with our 4 year old and 1 year old on a kids-eat-free Tuesday. Let me tell you--they FAR exceeded my expectations! All of our food was delicious, the waitress was so kind to us, and the overall atmosphere was perfect for dining with young kids. Rolled up to plenty of parking after loading the daughter's college stuff into the car around 1pm or so on a Saturday. The place has a nice vibe and the gal that seated us was quick and friendly. The place was clean with interesting decorating choices that made it unique. The bathroom was cleanish, but a bit run down. I ordered the BBQ dinner and the daughter ordered the Skinny or maybe Lite Dinner, both pulled pork. I got a sandwich, which our server said was the dinner (I clarified). So either the BBQ dinner (around $15 or so) has about 2/3 of the bbq the Lite or Skinny Meal (about $9 or $10) has or I got a sandwich (that is what I probably got). Okay, I'm a bit annoyed if this is the case but, oh well life happens. Their BBQ is wet and lacking flavor so I added BBQ sauce and skipped the bun since that is a carb no no for diabetics. The baked beans were really good and the green beans were okay. The service was a bit slow after we ordered for the 4 tables inside the restaurant, but they had a constant to-go kind of order thing going on. Was it awful, no. Will I be back, not a chance. Maybe BBQ on that side of the state isn't up to par with West KY BBQ. I wish I had taken the extra 20 minutes drive to Mission BBQ. read more

Service is always kind, fast, and helpful. The booths are comfortable and the bbq sauce on the table is great. However, the food is usually mid and under seasoned. I really want to love Mark's, and maybe my standards are too high because I'm a retired chef, but their food leans a little *too* homemade for me. Meaning, for the price you're paying for restaurant food I expect restaurant quality. They could easily turn this around and step it up without much more cost or effort with a few tweaks (like using salt and watching their temp times on meat). If you love BBQ it's still a good place to check out but mostly and only for their sauces. read more

This review is purely about the food as I had it delivered to my room by a known delivery service. I splurged and got many things including their onion strings, famous wings and a platter that included pulled pork, brisket, ribs, potato salad, baked beans and toasted white bread. The pulled pork was juicy and adding their signature sauce gave it that nice BBQ spice that I tend to like with my BBQ. The ribs fell right off the phone which to me is a sign that they are cooked to perfection. They tasted great too. The potato salad was made with red-bliss potatoes and I could eat multiple cups of them including their baked beans...YUM! Their wings are coated with flower (it seems like) and fried, but throw some of their sweet and sour sauce onto them and they are device. I would eat dozens of those in a single sitting. The brisket was even pull apart deliciousness with just the right thickness of bark needed to infuse that smokey flavor into the juicy meat. Even after taking 20+ minutes to be delivered, the food was still hot, tasted great and would be a 2-3 time a week dinner for me when I am traveling to Louisville. I love BBQ. I ate at Mark's Feed several years ago and had a great experience, so I was excited to visit again with my family, especially since it was a short walk from our AirBnB. Our server (Chelsea) was polite and courteous, so I've got nothing but good things to say about her and the service. She promptly brought my wife another side when she said she didn't like her choice. As for the food, it was quite average. I had the #1 Combo (pulled pork, brisket, ribs, honey wings with homemade chips and corn on the cobb). The pork and brisket were dry. The honey wings were tasty but fatty. The homemade chips were cold. My wife had the turkey sandwich with mac and cheese and sweet potato fries. The smoke on the turkey was barely noticeable. The bun was slightly stale. We would have rather had Kraft boxed mac and cheese. My girls shared the #1 combo. Proteins were ok but they weren't fans of the Mac and cheese or spiced apples. What was good? The fried pickles were excellent. Ribs were tender but wasn't a fan of the sauce. Sweet potato fries hit the spot. Maybe it was just a bad night. I use Yelp regularly and have rarely not enjoyed any meal that meets my criteria (at least 100 reviews with 4 star+ rating). I left Mark's Feed regretting my choice tonight. I will never go to or order fromMark's Feed Store again. I have ordered online twice for pickup for my husband and myself.. Both times I CLEARLY asked for extra barbecue sauce and then stressed it again in the notes, and then my husband asked the person working there when he picked it up and they assured him that there was extra barbecue sauce. The first time , there was only ONE very small container of barbecue sauce, (for two people), and then another lighter colored vinegar-y sauce that I could not identify. The second time, last night, we got two small containers of that vinegar like sauce with no barbecue sauce. That was especially maddening because we called ahead AND we checked when we went in AND we made every attempt to make it clear on the order form online that we wanted extra extra barbecue sauce and we got none. as far as the food goes, I've ordered twice from Mark's because I like their country pork very much. It's very tasty WHEN you have barbecue sauce, and my husband loves their turkey. So I figured the fooD IS really good it's just a service that they have a problem with. UNTIL I ordered a side of macaroni and cheese. I have never ever in my life had worse, macaroni and cheese. It was worse than Kraft instant ( made with powder.). It was worse than school lunch macaroni and cheese. It was watery and tasteless and unbelievably bad. As I said our experience with the meats and the fries and the coleslaw were very good -I don't know why they dropped the ball with the macaroni and cheese and making their online ordering easy to use and explanative as far as the sauces go . But I won't be going back ever because even though the food was good, I can find good barbecue elsewhere (WITH BBQ sauce) and I really don't like being treated that way whether I'm at the restaurant or ordering online. When you order online and you pay the same amount, (including a 20% tip!) that you would if you went to the restaurant, I expect some effort to go into bagging the food up. I've had Marks catetered on multiple occasions but I was a bit disappoint when I visited the store. I went for their burger week burger and the actual patty was a bit burned and very crispy. The toppings and sauce was delicious but the burger was dry. I also ordered a sweet potato which was delicious. I'll stick with a pulled meat next time. The downstairs of the restursnt was a bit smoky, but smelled good. The upstairs was a bit warm. There were 3 screaming children in the downstairs section.
