My friend purchased a sign-in book for the ceremony and wanted her husband's name on the front. My friend asked me if I could write it nicely, or if I knew anyone who could. In that instance, you know you should entrust that kind of thing to an expert, and Ana is an expert. She responded very promptly and had questions that put me at ease immediately: what was the book made of? Was it something porous? Going back and forth with a grieving family was slow-going, but Ana was patient and communicative, even with the tight turnaround. She was clear and upfront about what we should expect, and the price for her work was very reasonable. And the finished product was lovelier than I could have imagined. It was thoughtfully placed and even packaged beautifully. My friend loved the book so much and was so happy with the result. The whole experience was so positive and easy that I won't hesitate to add calligraphy to any special events that come along, because of Ana. Thank you Ana, for helping this grieving family!

I reached out to Lara via email and easily set up a private brush class for myself, my mom, and 2 girlfriends. The class went above and beyond our expectations! Lara was prompt on arrival, supplied everything needed for the class, and taught with a clear, patient, and flowing style. After two hours we each felt comfortable practicing on our own and couldn't wait to purchase more pens to play with. This holiday season I saw on her IG she was selling small and large ornaments with gorgeous calligraphy saying anything and everything you'd like on a globe. If you're interested in learning calligraphy or need services, do not overlook this warm and friendly scribe! We look forward to expanding our skills with either her writing class or advanced brush class in the very near future.

I can't believe I waited two years to FINALLY write this review…read more Losing a loved one as anyone knows is a heartbreaking experience and getting the services together is equally painful. How will you honor them, who will speak, what kind of ceremony would they have wanted. I must say the death of my beloved Grandmother hit me pretty hard. I thought a memory board with some carefully selected photos would be a great way to honor her. I began looking at memory boards online for inspiration and I thought calligraphy might be a nice touch. I contacted several calligraphers but it was too short of a notice. My Grandmother passed away Sunday and and I needed the board within a few days to assemble the photos. Queeny could not have been more kind or professional. She replied quickly to my request on Yelp and we discussed ideas and fonts. I sent her a photo of a board I liked as inspiration. I bought a black poster board at Michael's and Queeny picked it up at my place of work. The finished product as you can see was beautiful. At some point I really need to have this framed as it has become a treasured piece. Queeny thank you so much for your extraordinary work. I really appreciate you working with me on a tight timeframe but yet still doing precise and detailed work.

We were referred to Rona by Flax Art in SF from where we had bought a beautiful sheet of art paper…read more(20x30"). Our vision was to have our initials and wedding reception date in calligraphy on the paper and have our reception guests sign it. We would then frame it and hang it in our home. I called Rona immediately since we were 3 weeks away from our event and she called me right back. We talked about what I was looking for and she told me her rate of $75/hr, which I think is very reasonable for what we needed. She also asked me to send photos of the art paper and a sketch of what I wanted. Rona said she could work on our calligraphy that weekend so we dropped off our art paper to her and waited to hear back from her. We picked it up the following week and it was beautiful. She left a lot of space for our guests to sign around our initials and after our first guest signed it, we realized just how challenging it must have been for Rona to do the calligraphy on the art paper. It is handmade from bark so has texture and is absorbent, and the gold paint is not easy to mark over. Our archival and non-smearing ink pens did not write over the gold paint on the paper but it turned out fine. Thank you again Rona. Your art will be part of our home and life as a married couple!

In this era, when everything is cranked out on a computer, what Rona does feels like a miracle. She's also a beautiful human being, with a heart and a soul, who knows literature and music--it was such fun to visit with her. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I can't wait to find the next project so I can work with her again. Oh, and considering the caliber of her work, her prices are reasonable.
