I've been going to Dr. Frank Leung for a few years now for cleanings. He comes off as very…read moredisinterested and uncaring. He didn't want to do surgeries, x-rays, and avoided doing deep cleanings. At first I thought this was good as it seemed like he didn't do unnecessary and expensive operations on me, but after a while I realized he didn't really care and in my opinion, being lazy and coasting. I brought up issues with my gums, and he shrugged them off. For months he saw my gums were red. I told him days after cleanings they turn red, and he said to take peroxide to deal with it. He kept saying "the only way for me to know if there's an issue is if I check underneath the gums", without any intention to do a deep cleaning or x-ray or anything else. He says all the time about how he COULD do things, without any intention of doing it. How can I trust someone to do something if they aren't being serious about it or advising me I should do it? He has given me bad advice. He told me the incorrect way to floss, by flossing all the way down my gums as far as possible, which actually causes serious damage. Sometimes he even misunderstands when I'm explaining something to him, no matter how many times I try to clarify, he doesn't seem to be understanding it well. He's very old, and I think his listening and comprehension skills aren't what they were in the past based on these past reviews. I realize now my mistake was with him and am not seeing him anymore.

As an adult, I have decent teeth and most of the credit goes to him. He's located in the centre of Chinatown and I have fond memories of coming downtown from Mississauga and shopping after dentist appointments. Nowadays, I still go to Dr. Leung because if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I actually came to Dr. Chu many years ago to get 2 of my wisdom teeth removed and finally the other…read more2 caught up to me and I needed those out as well. Being out of town, I went to another dentist to ask about the troublesome teeth but ultimately there isn't anyone that I trust more than Dr. Chu. Regarding the parking situation, there is a big lot that should have spots available. There's a security guard that is very diligent about watching the cars because Scarborough General is literally a block away and people try to park in this lot for free. The signs in the lot say that there is a 1 hour limit for parking. Inside the office, you'll see that there is a sign that says there is a minimum of 2 hours for parking. The receptionist will provide you with a little slip that you can put on your dashboard indicating that you are authorized to park there. The office is located in the plaza with the Shoppers which is convenient because you will likely get prescribed something for pain/antibiotics if you're getting your wisdom teeth out like me. Look for a hanging blue sign and an entrance that will take you up a set of stairs. The receptionist desk is right there and they can check you in. Both receptionists are really friendly and helpful. I was a little nervous about my appointment and one of them talked with me a bit assuring me that everything would be fine and that little kids and adults alike handle their surgeries well. I actually fall into the category of big baby so this was good information. There are two areas in the waiting room. One of them had a TV playing CBC News. There were many magazines to peruse through as well. After a bit of wait, I was shown back to a room. A nurse took down some additional info before Dr. Chu came in. Dr. Chu is very calm and professional. He explained my case to me and let me know that it was completely my choice whether or not to go ahead with the procedure. This was very important to me. I'd rather be given the option (if there's no foreseeable consequence to not doing it) than pushed into surgery that wasn't entirely necessary. I was told the extraction took about 15 minutes (I was completely out). After my extraction I was shown to a recovery room and a nurse sat with me for a bit and explained my after care instructions and answered my questions. She wasn't pushy about getting me out at all. She gave me the option to stick around some more to let me get my bearings but I had my parents with me and was okay to be on my way. I'm happy to report I didn't end up looking like a chipmunk and I was able to just take Advil to deal with the pain during the healing process even though I had the option of getting stronger painkillers. A few of my family members have also had their wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Chu and the consensus was that he's very good at what he does. A big thank you to Dr. Chu and the team!
