Im sure you noticed that there are sooo many Family Mart stores opening all over the city. They are…read morealways filled with people lining up to get the soft serve ice cream cones. It's crazy how people love it that much! I will admit that I was once like them and would often crave for it but now I found something else to look forward to in this specific Family Mart. Because it is placed right beside the cinemas, I was wondering why there was a Family Mart there. It's not a usual spot for them. But to my greatest surprise, they placed it there because of their POPCORN! They have so far the best and most affordable popcorn in all of Manila. A regular sized bag is only P50 and a larger one is P100 no matter what flavor. They have the typical cheese, sour cream and bbq flavors but I just love the sour cream one. I sometimes choose to watch a movie in this mall just for the popcorn. It's that good.

Our original plan was to buy some bottled water, but the cookie display near the cash register was…read morecalling me. I had to answer that call. I was happy with the width of the Chocolate Walnut Cookie Php42 and its height was reasonably thin. After closely observing the texture of the cookie through the food display's glass, my gut told me it was chewy; not chunky. And I hit the jackpot! Around halfway through, I was getting a bit bored with the overall flavor. I might've appreciated this more with a glass or bottle of milk (so I can dunk it)!

So you can expect that with the loads of call centres around the fort, this place is forever packed. Something which can be a bad thing because the acoustics in this outlet aren't good. So it can get VERY loud and VERY busy. The service here is pretty fast too, which is a plus. The portions of food and drink are very generous (juices are served in a carafe not in a glass for only 99 bucks!). There aren't that many veggie options and I wish they offered something for vegetarians. But the best dishes here are the rice bowls. The SST (sweet spicy tuyo) is always great. Plus they offer the option of organic brown rice which is awesome!

Recovery Food at the stopover pavillion is more of your anti-hang over cure. The food is recovering, not for your body really, but more for your mind. The menu is limited to FIlipino comfort foods with meats, rice and eggs. Not that is not where you should make your choice. The choice should be if you go for normal.. or full recovery. I always go for full SST recovery with brown rice or talangka rice. The food quality is always consistent. What I appreciate is that they also serve a wine bottle full of fresh calamansi or dalandan juice for only 100 php. The ice tea is from powder so I wouldn't recommend that. Don't show up here during lunch hour btw, there is a wait and the place gets so crowded you can't hear yourself talk anymore.

Food on Four seems to be designed as an upscale version of the usual SM food court so you can expect slightly higher price points. However, they do get credit for having an array of options (Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, etc) Pepper Lunch is often a popular choice but do check out Frankie's for chicken wings, Teppanyaki Brothers for an affordable teppanyaki experience or Brasas for Latin American food. And yes, they do have Eat Pinoy if you want Filipino food. New additions to the area are made-to-order sushi from Sushi Nori and Craft Salad for healthy salads, sandwiches and juice options. They get extra points for cute stall design. If you're feeling nostalgic about classic SM food court food, head over to Sizzling Plate. There's nothing quite like a sizzling T-bone with java rice to remind you that you are still in an SM mall.

My family has very discriminating taste when it comes to food and eating out (mainly because almost everyone in the family can cook), so when I say it's a place I'd bring my mom to, I mean it should meet the highest standard of quality. In terms of actual food choices, I love that they don't offer the usual cheap food fare. The food kiosks there are more like express versions of full blown restaurants. There's Brasas Latin American Street Food, Four Seasons Chinese Cuisine, Yakitori One, Teppanyaki Brothers, Eat Pinoy by Cabalen, 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken, Sbarro, Pepper Lunch Express, Slice, Cinnabon and Crazy Crepes. So, there's actually something for everyone. I love that the ambiance is more similar to the fancy foodhalls we have here than the food courts in older malls.

I tried this place since it was recommended to me by a coffee conoisseur and le best friend. As a…read morecoffee place that focuses on the third wave coffee, I can't help but compare it to Coffee Empire. Maybe I picked some good coffee in the latter that I really so appreciate the nutty taste in the hand brewed Brazil Cerrado. But I'd say Kuppa is just as good as Coffee Empire. The place wasn't as grand as Coffee Empire but it's just apt for a coffee place. Oh they have this bell per table that you can ring when you need their service. I thought it was fancy. Haha. I didn't explore their bar/counter where the cakes were because they handed us the menu when we took our seats. I found it very accommodating. So I tried the V60 Ethiopian Yirgacheffe *high fives for the spelling!* which the barista said had a hint of red cherry in it. I couldn't distinguish that particular taste tho. But I loved the coffee! It was fine, smooth, and light and it looked kinda reddish black in light. So we ordered Wimpy's (open faced burger in gravy and cheese sauce) and it was a delight! Also had the Tiramisu which was super small but it was neat and just the right sweetness. Not fan of their frappes/cold drinks tho. We had the Mocha Java Drink and the Barista's Secret (which was like white chocolate). I found them very smooth. I prefer a rough-textured frappe and well, I haven't had a frappe in a month so maybe my judgment was not good. Anyway, hot coffee here is better. :) I think the prices for coffee was just right but I guess the other stuff in their menu was highly overpriced. I highly recommend this place if you're within the area. But maybe not, I don't want a bunch of people crowding up the place I want to go often (talk of hipster, haha).

Agedashi Tofu It's basically tofu with the famous, crunchy…read morepanko coating. This was deliciously expensive! Chicken Katsu It's a slightly healthier and more affordable option than pork (hire or rosu) but the pork does taste amazing with a little bit of fat. Lychee and Peach Iced Tea I like that the refillable glass was thin enough to control my pacing. The beverage was pretty good but made me stick to one rice only. Menchi Katsu Liking this dish attracts different feedback. It's good but some don't want their cheese mixed with meat. Some do, such as myself, but it turned out to be pretty heavy. Yet, even that characteristic can be super for some... such as myself. Mozzarella Katsu Sticks These were super! The cheese put up a fight after every bite, not letting go of the katsu like it had a life that depended on it, if that makes any sense. I truly enjoyed their flavor since they weren't too salty. Service Thanks to JM for getting all our orders right! She also did well with the refills. Tips For set meals, white rice also comes in brown, which is healthier but just as heavy IMO. If you get Katsu Curry, you might not need to crush your sesame seeds and mix with Tonkatsu Sauce anymore. But if you're adventurous, ignore me completely! The sauce container for the cabbage is pretty difficult since it serves you by the drop. I sometimes take the cover off to hasten the sloth but it can get messy and increase wastage. Get only what you need and wipe it up a bit after closing it again. Or ignore me completely because the management might not like this practice.

Aside from the waitress not tending to us timely after being seated, the food was not appealing or tasty as I believe they could have been. Daughter ordered the pork katsu and although crispy, it lacked seasoning. I had the oriental chicken salad but it was way overdressed for the amount of greens on the plate. On top of that, a customer slipped and fell while on her way back from the restroom. Restaurant can take a lot more care in food preparation and customer safety.
